Gone Camping

By Jade Wong, Gabriella Byrne and Jessica Hare

Page 2: 2014 competition entry_presentation

Who?

People who go to camp, e.g. families

What?

Our app is there when people may have enquiries,

would like to expand their knowledge, data they have to

know in an emergency situation

When?

It would mostly be used for the people going camping

or a game for people who are interested in camping.

Where?

Anywhere it suits our users. For example, in the

campsite, in a forest or on the tube.

Why?

So people get the information they need all about

camping and the emergency precautions that we must

take in worst case scenarios, put forth in different ways,

like games, search boxes etc.

Page 3: 2014 competition entry_presentation

A specific problem may be…

-You are doing a trek in the woods with a camping

buddy.

This camping buddy suddenly turns pale, is feeling

really unwell and exhausted all of a sudden, their

breath is short and ragged, nausea, decreased

appetite, swelling in the lower limbs and he/she starts

to cough up blood tinged phlegm. These are signs of

heart failure and this app will tell you the necessary

precautions to keep your buddy from getting into a

worse state.

How should you act in worst case

scenarios?

What should you do if someone is having a

heart attack, seizure etc in a rural

environment such as a plain?

Page 5: 2014 competition entry_presentation

Everyone should be equipped with the correct

knowledge for helping someone in need.

But sadly not everyone has this training…

This app tells you quickly and effectively what

precautions you must take to help someone who

needs help.

Especially because when you go camping you are not

always surrounded by people so sometimes your help

is all the person who is in need is relying on.

The point of this app is to help these people when

they are faced with situations which they do not know

how to react to. Hopefully this app will help these

people in their problems.

Our team , “Gone Camping”, is developing a

mobile app which target camping people or

people who are simply interested in camping

and are curious to expand their knowledge.

Page 7: 2014 competition entry_presentation

At first, we were going to do an app about how to act in

real life, if someone needs help, like on the street or on

the tube. However, from our user profiles they thought

that this app wouldn’t be successful and not engaging

enough that they would buy it. The majority thought that

a survival guide for camping would be much more

successful and that if it were well executed they would

buy our app, and we hope that our idea will get to this

stage.

There are some camping apps already available

on the app store. However, their apps focus only

on answering questions about what their users

may find useful but we are approaching this in a

totally different way.

Our app is separated into 4 components. A

search box, knots, locations, quizzes and games.

Page 9: 2014 competition entry_presentation

The sections in our app that are essential to

meet the needs of our users are:

-Home page (to get to all our sections)

-A search page (provides useful and

interesting facts on camping)

- Knots page ( guide to doing all types of

knots

- Games ( different mini games, e.g.

crosswords, and story maker)

- Quiz ( multiple choice questions in a digital

board game)

- Location ( recommended places for camp

sites)

The key wireframes of our app are: -Home page

This is our main screen.we have five different screens that you can use, these include:

A Search- here you can just read interesting and useful facts you should know if you want to go camping, it also includes a quick search that doesn't use internet, if you are in a rush for an answerKnots-this includes a wide range of useful knots

that we think you should know, it also includes when you should use themLocations- This is a list of recommended places

for camping. This allows you to look for good places to spend with your kids, or as a fun time with your friends etc..Games- here we would provide some fun games

that help you remember your camping skills,Quiz- we also have a fun quiz to play with your

friends, and to test your camping knowledge

Locations

On our LOCATIONS page, we offer good locations for people to go camping.you can specify weather you want it to be fore kids, or for a trek with friends, our search can find you the best locationsWe would ask the people running the sights to pay us to put their location on our app, so we are advertising it for them, this would be how we get our main source of money

Page 14: 2014 competition entry_presentation

Our app’s content is tangible information, as we

will be able to find all the information we need

from camping experts and emergency specialists

and other reliable sources. Our app will need a

database but it will not need to be as big as

Google or recipe websites that need masses of

information for that app to work.

Page 15: 2014 competition entry_presentation

We have chosen to use Business Model 3. We believe

that our app is good enough that it would be a success

in the market however if we charge users, they will not

want to buy an app which is expensive especially

because if we are a new business people will not want to

buy an app that they are not sure is good quality. We

believe that at first, we will have business model 3 and

then if our app is a success we will move it on to

business model 3.

We will get our money from camping sites that would like

publicity through our app because we will put their

locations into our locations page.

Page 16: 2014 competition entry_presentation

1) Our marketing strategy is to spread through social

media websites e.g. twitter, facebook, so that more

people will know about our app. The people who have

tested it for free, if they like it, will publicise by the

product by themselves.

2) On these pages, we will put links to the app, which

will be easily accessible to users. we have decided to

make it free for a certain amount of users as a taster of

our app.

3) Planning events to entice people to buy our app.

Engaging and fun workshops, targeting families who

love camping and would really benefit from buying our

app.

App Design Mock-up

We presented our app idea to Martin

Stanford, a marketing expert from Laughing

Phoenix which is a site who helps to

transform business concepts into

something which can work.

He told us that our idea is “ an engaging

way to bring about vital information that

people need to know when camping”.
