paint. This painting class teaches the wet-on-wet meth-

Enhance your digital photos, restore old family pictures or just print with confidence using these professional

photo editing tools. Get the most out of digital imaging by learning Adobe Photoshop Elements 11. This is

an easy-to-learn, easy-to-use version that is very user-friendly!

Students will learn how to upload photos and documents, print them, and save their photos and documents in

Learn the basics to Country Line Dancing. This class will start you out at the beginning of each dance with

Test dates will be December 13 & 14 Our certified welding class prepares students to become

certified in one area in both vertical and overhead posi-

tions. Students prepare to take an in-house certification

following standards and guidelines from the American

Welding Society. Certification is available in either Mig,

Tig or Arc Welding.

90% attendance is required for certification.

It is strongly recommended that students have some prior experience in welding or have taken the Weld-ing Basics class prior to taking the certification class.

Students will learn basic electrical concepts and be

exposed to starting and charging system operation as

well as diagnosis and repair. This is a fast-paced

course with a lot of information covered in a short

term. After 5 weeks, students will be prepared to take

and pass the State Certification test in Electrical.

Learn the strategies involved in the thought-filled game of Mahjong. Join the class as individual or bring your own

team of four. Students will need to have league cards (approximately $9) If you have your own tile set, bring it

Pharmacy Technician Program $1,199 (includes books) Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:00 - 9:30 pm

Instructor: TBA Oct 21 - Dec 11 50 hrs + 60 Clinical hrs This comprehensive 50 hour program will prepare students to work as a pharmacy technician

in a retail or other pharmacy setting and to take the Pharmacy Technician Certification

Board’s PTCB exam. Course content includes: pharmacy medical terminology, the history

of pharmacy, the pharmacy practice in multiple environments, pharmacy calculations and

measurements, reading and interpreting prescriptions and defining drugs by generic and

brand names. Through classroom lecture and hands on labs, students will review dosage

calculations, drug classifications, the “top 200 drugs”, I.V. flow rates, sterile compounding,

dose conversions, aseptic technique, the handling of sterile products, total parental nutrition

(TPN), dispensing of prescriptions, inventory control and billing and reimbursement.

Clinical Medical Assistant Program $2,599 (includes books) Tuesday-Wednesday-Thursday 6:00 - 9:30 pm

Instructor: TBA Oct 7 - Jan 22 140 hrs + 160 Clinical hrs This program will train students to assist physicians by performing functions related to the clinical responsibilities of

a medical office. Instruction includes among other things preparing patients for examination and treatment, routine

laboratory procedures, diagnostic testing, technical aspects of phlebotomy and the cardiac life cycle. Students will

review important topics including phlebotomy, pharmacology, the proper use and administration of medications, tak-

ing and documenting vital signs, cardiology including proper lead placements, a professional workplace behavior, eth-

ics and the legal aspects of healthcare. This program includes 140 hours of classroom lecture and hands on labs and a

clinical externship opportunity at a local healthcare provider. To be eligible for the clinical rotation, students must

successfully complete the 140 hour program, submit to a thorough background check, drug screening and meet other

requirements.

Note: Upon successful completion of this program, students would be eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer

Association (NHA) Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) national examination.

Dental Assistant Program $1,199 (includes books) Mondays and Wednesdays 6:00 - 9:30 pm

Phlebotomy Technician Program $1,799 (includes books) Mondays and Wednesdays 6:00 - 9:30 pm

Instructor: TBA Sept 15 - Dec 17 90 hours

This 90 hour Phlebotomy Technician Program prepares professionals to collect blood specimens from clients for the

purpose of laboratory analysis. Students will become familiar with all aspects related to blood collection and develop

comprehensive skills to perform venipunctures completely and safely. Classroom and lab work includes terminology,

anatomy and physiology; blood collection procedures; specimen hands-on practice; and training in skills and tech-

niques to perform puncture methods.

*Note: This program does not include the arranging of a free clinical rotation on behalf of students.

Although not required to work as a Phlebotomy Technician, students that wish to pursue a clinical

rotation should contact local health care organizations to arrange their personal clinical schedule.

The purpose of this course is to familiarize the student with all areas of pre-clinical dental assist-

ing and provide training in the professional skills required to function as an assistant in the den-

tal practice. This course covers the following key areas and topics – Administrative Aspects in-

clude: the history of dentistry and dental assisting; introduction to the dental office; the legal

aspects of dentistry; policies and guidelines. Clinical Aspects include: introduction to oral anat-

omy; dental operatory; dental equipment, introduction to tooth structure; primary and permanent

teeth; the oral cavity and related structures; proper patient positioning; dental hand-pieces; steri-

lization; and other areas. In addition to entry-level administrative jobs, this course is ideal for

students interested in pursuing a future formal Dental Hygienist program.

Medical Administrative Assistant Instructor: Alanna DeBono

$250 + books Wednesdays, September 17- December 10 (12 weeks) 4:30 - 8:30 pm Learn the different rolls of a Medical Administrative Assistant in the hospital and ambulatory care settings. Students

will learn the attributes that the Medical Administrative Assistant should strive to develop, the members of the health

care team and their roles, techniques to help you communicate effectively and appropriately with patients and families,

HIPAA compliance, patient confidentiality, the basics of Microsoft Office and Microsoft Outlook, telephone etiquette,

basic ICD-9 and ICD-10 coding, career development and life skills.

Upon successful completion of this program, students would be eligible to sit for the National Healthcareer Association

(NHA) Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) national examination.

Medical Billing Instructor: Deb Sherman

$225 + books Thursdays, Sept 18 - Nov 20 5:30 - 9:30 pm; (10 weeks)

Understanding Health Insurance and the guide to billing and reimbursement is all

covered in this 10 week course. The objectives are to introduce information about

major insurance programs, provide basic knowledge of national diagnosis and pro-

cedure coding systems, and simplify the process of completing claims.

Coming this Fall!!! - We are looking into online internship opportunities for Medical Coding and Bill-

ing. These classes would be self paced and optional for past and present students to gain experience and ex-

posure to many different medical coding scenarios. This will be a great addition to your resume.

Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) $900 (includes tuition, book & clinical hours)

The Certified Nurse Aide program is a 10 week course,

which includes 8 weeks of class work and 16 hours of

clinical work at a medical care facility. Students learn

basic health care procedures including pulse rates, taking

temperatures, respiration, blood pressure, and patient care.

This program will prepare students to take the State test.

American Heart CPR &

First Aid Instructor: Pat Beauchamp

This CPR class is an American Heart Basic Life Sup-

port for Healthcare Providers & Heartsaver First Aid

training, including AED training. This class will cover

adult, infant, and child CPR/AED, and first aid. Learn

to identify when CPR is necessary, how to administer

it, the CAB's of emergency care, and practice on the

CPR mannequin.

BLS training is also available –ask for details.

Medical Terminology Instructor: Deb Sherman

$225 + books Mondays, (10 weeks)

Sept 15 - Nov 17 5:30 - 9:30 pm

This class is designed to teach students easy

ways to apply prefixes, learn how to correctly

pronounce medical terms, and remember

roots and suffixes. Learn how the parts of the

terms combine to form medical terms.

ICD-10 Medical Coding Instructor: Deb Sherman

$225 + books Tuesdays, Sept 16 - Nov 18

5:30 - 9:30 pm; (10 weeks)

ICD-10 is expected to be implemented soon. Deb has

taken the American Health Information Management

Train- the-Trainer and became a Certified ICD-10

trainer. This class will teach ICD-10 Diagnosis coding

used in both hospital and physician offices.

National Certification is available for students com-

pleting the Billing and Coding courses.

Computers for Beginners Instructor: Pam Smith

Are you new to using computers? Do you wonder what people mean when they say the

Cloud, Windows, browser, ISP, etc.? Perhaps you would just like to know more about

how computers work? When it comes to learning the basics, Computers for Beginners has

it covered. Come for one class or all.

Please bring a USB flash drive for to save your work for all computer classes.

Sept 24 Getting to know your computer: Students will learn the different computer parts, basics of the Windows operating system

including opening programs and how to get around on their computer.

Oct 1 Learning to use Windows including Windows 8: Students will learn how to access programs, create and organizing files, move files by

dragging and dropping, and how to save your work.

Oct 8 Accessing the Internet and understanding Email: Students will learn how to set up their internet browser, “surf the net”, how to use Search

Engines, and safe guarding their computer from viruses. Students will also learn how to

create emails and how to add and save attachments in their emails.

Oct 15 Understanding Files and Folders Students will learn to create files and place them in folders, find and print files, save and retrieve files.

Learn to work with customer/vendor transactions, create a set of books for a company,

deal with physical and selling inventory, use QuickBooks for payroll, do their banking

with QuickBooks, and much more. This course is a self-paced approach.

(140 day student software included).

Students will have the option of taking a Certification Exam to become a “Certified QuickBooks User” for a

small additional cost.

Reiki Instructor: Tracy Chalcraft

Reiki is a form of hands-on, natural healing that uses universal life force energy.

It is not meant to take the place of a physician’s treatment, but instead to work

with it. Reiki is an alternative therapy for holistic health with benefits including

stress reduction and relaxation which help the body heal. This is not a religion

and does not interfere with any religious practices or beliefs. This technique is

used in the Cleveland Clinic and St John’s Hospital. In Level I, students will learn

the techniques of Reiki. Upon completion of this class, students will be issued a

certificate and be able to perform Reiki on themselves and others.

Winter Vegetable Growing Instructor: Kirk Forsyth

$30 Thursdays, September 18 - October 9 (4 weeks) 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Would you like to have fresh vegetables during those long winter months? Learn how to plant and take care of vegetables in your home. These classes will go over

the basic information you need to get started. Students will be starting their own plants and getting a head start on having fresh winter vegetables. The seeds will

be supplied. Students will learn the best type of containers and soil to bring for the

remaining classes. This is a “hands on” class. Be prepared to get your hands dirty!
