Wide variety of issues discussed included funding, oral exam, written exam, programming competition, bonus point system and such. New competition additions for 2015 will be discussed at the next meeting slated for December 6.

HSCC PC Image Setup

� This year, I received 2 notebooks 2 weeks before the competition.

� Next year, I hope to still get Windows 7 64-� Next year, I hope to still get Windows 7 64-bit. This will depend on if Microsoft is still offering downgrade license. This will need a conformation early.

� I wipe the notebook, re-install Windows, drivers, service pack(s), run Windows Update.

During the Competition

I have tech support volunteers on-call for issues that judges or I cannot solve

If using IDEs, show students how to run If using IDEs, show students how to run their project without the IDE if they have problems. This rules out the IDE as the issue

Remind students the last change is usually what broke the program

During Presentations

The main presentation issue I noticed is some students try to type/drive the laptop while standing up. Sitting down laptop while standing up. Sitting down while typing/driving the laptop is much easier than standing.

Steps to take before the Competition

� Go through a Windows 7 or Windows 8 install

� Go through installing Window Service Go through installing Window Service packs and using Windows update service

� Go through installing MySQL and installing your technology, so students know how to configure their environments
