Hot sun lightens the flower color and the substance is excellent. One of the widest petaled northern hardy flowers I know of with such nice teeth and it still opens well. Carnivorasaurus will repeat bloom on some years in my zone 4 garden. It reminded me of the teeth along the Sarlacc pit they were going to throw Luke Skywalker into in the movie Return Of The Jedi. TRIBUTE TO JIM BRUNNER

It was with sorrow we learned of long time customer Carol Brunner’s husband Jim’s loss of his battle against prostate cancer.   This mid late bloomer is a hardy, vigorous fertile plant with thick strong well budded scapes. BLAZING CANNONS(Waldrop 2013)(Spacecoast Blood Diamond x Home of the Free). Sev. Tet. Early to mid-season blooms. 31” tall, 5-way branching, 25 buds, 7” flower. BLAZING CANNONS is a cross between two champions. A champion “pod parent” from the Kinnebrew garden, and another champion “pollen parent” from the garden of Larry Grace. These two parents produced a brilliant red flower that is 7” in diameter. BLAZING CANNONS has grown very well here in North Georgia, and I’m pleased to also report that it often produces proliferations. BLAZING CANNONS received its name after I watched many episodes on the history channel about the Civil War. Pod and pollen fertile. $150.00.SF

BROOKE’S BRIGHT STAR(Waldrop, 2011) (Diana’s Evening Gown x Judy Farquhar). Dormant.  Tetraploid. Mid season blooms. 28” tall, 3-way branching, 20 buds, 7” flower. Sadly, Brooke lost her life as a result of an automobile accident on a wet road, and one of her friends wanted to honor Brooke, and asked if I would use her name with one of my 2011 introductions.  Of course, I said “yes.”  There are four significant and important factors that make BROOKE’S BRIGHT STAR to be much more than simply another yellow daylily.  The first important fact is that it is 7 inches in diameter.  The second important fact is that it has beautiful carving on the face of its petals.  The third important fact is that it has wide ruffled edges that emanate from J. T. Davis, one of the parents of Diana’s Evening Gown.  The fourth very significant point is that BROOKE’S BRIGHT STAR is dormant.  I would note that BROOKE’S BRIGHT STAR does not grow well in the Greenhouse; it likes the cold winter nights that prepare it for outstanding summer blooms.  I must say that it is difficult to produce such a big, bold daylily, that is dormant.  Nevertheless this has been accomplished.  How do you like the small measuring device that I used to actually show the circumference of BROOKE’S BRIGHT STAR?  Pod and Pollen fertile.  $50.00.

CROOKED SMILE

(Waldrop 2013)(Virgil’s Suspenders x Windmaster). Ev. Tet. Unusual form. Early to Mid-season blooms. 36” tall, 4-way branching, 22 buds, 11” flower. Although this beauty is an evergreen, it is tough. It does well here in North Georgia regardless of our cold winter temperatures. Perhaps this should be expected because one-half of the parentage of the pod parent is Tet. Indian Giver. Also, CROOKED SMILE is like LYDIA’S REGAL ROBE and LITTLE JACKIE PAPER in that it has a tight bud and it hardly ever spots or looks untidy. CROOKED SMILE is pollen fertile, but a difficult pod parent. $75.00

DIANA’S PEACHES AND CREAM 2014 Intro

Terry Lyninger).  Sev.  Tet.  Early to mid-season blooms.   27” tall, 4-way branching, 24 buds, 5.75” flower.  DIANA’S PEACHES AND CREAM  has a beautiful orange color,  with a brighter, glowing firelight color in the eye.  There are wonderful ruffles on the edges of the petals.  This daylily achieved its name from a lovely dessert my wife Diana makes during the summer.   Pollen fertile, but a difficult pod parent.  $100.00.

HEAVENLY SUNRISE2014 Intro

 ((Summer Hymns x J. T. Davis) x Ram).  Dormant.  Tet.  Mid to late season blooms.  32” tall, 5-way branching, 23 buds, 7” flower. Looking back over this past summer this flower was the most exciting plant that I saw in my garden.  Mid season came and so did the blooms.   Over many years of looking at yellow daylilies, to my eye, this is the best that I have seen.  One parent comes from Dan Trimmer, another parent is a Stout medal winner from Larry Grace, and perhaps the big contributor to size is Whatley’s RAM.  The substance of HEAVENLY SUNRISE is especially nice, and it is not particularly impacted by the summer heat.  I picked the name HEAVENLY SUNRISE after thinking long and hard about the impression the flower has on me when I see it bloom.  If you buy anything from me this year I would recommend that you include this magnificent plant.  Pollen fertile and a difficult pod parent.  $150.00.

IRISH CROWN 2014 Intro

 [(Leslie Renee x Angels Gather Around) x (Leslie Renee x Angels Gather Around)].  Sev. Leaning to dormancy.  Tet.  Early to mid-season blooms.  I’ve been asked by friends about this year’s “green edged” introduction. Well, here it is:  IRISH CROWN.  It is a bitone.  The Petals are a royal purple, and the sepals are a lighter shade of the same color.  It has an ivory colored halo around its throat.  Then there is a distinct green color in the throat, and an even more distinct band of greed edges around the petals.  The name IRISH CROWN was suggested several years ago by my friend David Williams.  Thanks David for the name.  Pollen fertile, but a difficult pod parent.  $100.00.

LITTLE JACKIE PAPER

(Waldrop 2013)(Tet. Star Child x Lydia’s Regal Robe). Sev. Tet. Early to mid-season blooms. 29” tall, 4-way branching, 15 buds, 4.4” flower. This flower is packed with the power of conversions. Obviously, the pod parent is the conversion, Tet. Star Child, and one-half of the parentage of the pollen parent is Tet. Indian Giver. Its plant habit is like its pollen parent, LYDIA’S REGAL ROBE, in that it almost always opens without imperfections. I particularly like the lovely purple color and the darker eye, along with the intricate green throat. The ivory edges on both the petals and sepals are very distinctive. Pod and Pollen fertile. $100.00.

LYDIA’S REGAL ROBE(Waldrop, 2008) Semievergreen but leans toward dormancy. Early to midseason blooms. 37”tall, 6”flower, three-way branching,24 buds. Lydia’s Regal Robe has an alluring and beckoning ivory edge on both its petals and sepals. Its color is a combination of deep purple with a lovely overlay of blue violet. It has a lighter shade of purple in its eyezone, combined with a beautifying green throat. We should recall that the diploid INDIAN GIVER is only registered to be 20” tall, whereas LYDIA’S REGAL ROBE is a full 37” tall. Also, the diploid INDIAN GIVER flower is only 4.5” in circumference, but LYDIA’S REGAL ROBE is a full 6” in circumference. Truly this grand daylily is deserving of its namewhich comes from the esteemed Biblical business woman, Lydia, who was known by all for the high quality of her purple cloth. Although LYDIA’S REGAL ROBE has such a lush, deep color, it nevertheless holds well in both hot sun and in the rain. At the end of a hot day it still looks fresh. Pod and pollen fertile. $35.00.

MARLEE JANE 2014 Intro

(Varsity Orange x (Lonnie Leroy Carpenter x Kennesaw Mountain Hayride)).  Sev.  Tet.  Mid season blooms.  42” tall, 4-way branching, 27 buds, 7.5” flower.   It has a very strong  coral color  with a yellow edge on the petals.    This incredible daylily was recognized by popular vote as the best seedling in Region 5 (Georgia), during the Regional Meeting in 2012 in Savannah, Georgia. The name, MARLEE JANE, recognizes our close and dear friend Marlee, who has contributed so much to the world of daylilies.  Pod and pollen fertile.  $150.00.SF

MYSTIC AMETHYST (Waldrop, 2011)(Leslie Renee x Tet. James McCaskill).  Dormant.  Tet.  EM.  29” tall, 3-4 way branching, 20 buds, 5 ½” flower.  This is the only introduction that I have produced using Tet. James McCaskill as a parent, and to my knowledge, there is only one other introduction where Tet. James McCaskill was used a parent.  The attraction of MYSTIC AMETHYS is its fine lavender color.  Its green throat, its dark stamen, and its lovely ruffled edge, all enhance the charm of this daylily.  Pod and pollen fertile.  $50.00.

RED EYED QUEEN2014 Intro

(God Save the Queen x Red Eyed Radiance).  Sev.  Tet.  Early to mid-season blooms.  32” tall, 3-way branching, 16 buds, 7” flower.  The name for this beauty was selected because it combines the names of its two parents.  Daylilies with eyes and edges are particularly attractive, and RED EYED QUEEN makes the most of these attributes.  In fact, I sometimes see teeth on the edges of the petals.  The colors include a light rose on the petals and sepals, with a light red color around the throat, and yellow edges on the outside of the petals.  Pod and Pollen fertile.  $100.00.

THE STING 2014 Intro

(Wild Hair x Fantastic Fringe).  Sev.  Tet.  Early blooms.  37” tall, 4-way branching, 24 buds, 5” flower.  When this flower first bloomed in the Greenhouse it was lovely, but not until it spent a winter outside, and then encountered the summer heat did it truly express its beauty.  It takes the summer heat for the “teeth” on both the petals and the sepals to truly be like the stinger on a bee.  I chose the name and included an exclamation point as part of the name because the teeth on the flower are so remarkable.  Limited supply.  Pod and pollen fertile.  $200.00 SF
