Course OverviewThe 7th Annual Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Leadership Summit is a national forum for healthcare leaders and clinicians to share information, develop a consistent platform and map out solutions for universal and reoccurring struggles involving the administrative, managerial, policy and practice aspects of advanced practice providers (advanced practice nursing roles and physician assistants).

Attendees will benefit from networking with other healthcare leaders and clinicians and will gain support and resources to enhance advanced practice at their organizations. Novel strategies and approaches to a variety of advanced practice topics will be shared. Interactive discussions with advanced practice leaders will help attendees learn about state, regional and national challenges, successes and changes.

Educational Objectives• Compare and contrast various advanced practice

leadership roles. Determine successes as well as pitfalls to avoid.

• Illustrate successful methods for recruiting advanced practice providers and list strategies for retention.

• Discuss new APP roles and methods of implementation in different environments.

• Analyze state practice restrictions and discuss methods for change.

• Examine the future of advanced practice leadership in terms of leadership fellowships.

Target Audience• Advanced practice administrators, managers, leads/

chiefs, chairs of shared governance/nursing/medical councils & committees

• Hospital and healthcare administrators and executives, physician leaders and nursing leaders involved directly or indirectly with advanced practice

• Advanced Practice Providers (APPs): PAs, NPs, CNMs, CRNAs and CNSs

• Other clinicians involved with APPS (e.g., physicians, nurses, pharmacists)

Accreditation

Advanced Practice Nurses (CNE)The University of Colorado College of Nursing is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Colorado Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

This educational offering for 12.25 contact hours is provided by the University of Colorado College of Nursing Office of Lifelong Learning. A CNE certificate will be emailed to participants within 30 days of the program.

The University of Colorado College of Nursing and the University of Colorado Hospital are both located on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora, Colorado.

Aurora is part of the Denver metro area and is near downtown Denver and the Rocky Mountains. The campus is designed is designed for collaboration and is a diverse teaching and learning community that creates, discovers and applies knowledge to improve the health and well-being of Colorado and the world. Anschutz Medical Campus integrates patient care, research and education in one of the nation’s newest health sciences cities.

Colorado University’s health sciences-related schools and colleges are all located on the campus. These include the School of Medicine, the Skaggs School of Pharmacy, College of Nursing, the School of Dental Medicine, and the Colorado School of Public Health as well as the graduate schools for various fields in biological and biomedical sciences. In addition to the University of Colorado Hospital and the research and education facilities, the Anschutz Medical Campus is home to Children’s Hospital Colorado and will soon include the new Denver Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center.

The University of Colorado College of Nursing was founded in 1898 and now enrolls more than 950 undergraduate and graduate students. It established one of the first bachelor’s programs west of the Mississippi in 1920 and in 1965 instituted the first nurse practitioner program in the United States.

The University of Colorado Hospital (UCH) was founded in 1921. UCH is one of five Colorado hospitals that make up University of Colorado Health. It is nationally ranked in 9 specialties. As a 551-bed hospital, UCH has over 28,620 admissions per year.
