Jupiter  Stadium  Improvement  Project  May  13,  2014  

 We  need  to  raise  an  additional  $23,000  to  meet  our  initial  goal  for  the  project,  so  please  make  your  contribution  today.    If  we  raise  these  funds  now,  construction  will  begin  in  June.    Please  join  us.    Current  funds  and  commitments  from  the  Town’s  2014  Capital  Improvements  Budget,  sponsorships,  business  and  individual  donations  have  gotten  us  to  this  point.      Velocity  Community  Credit  Union  has  donated  $100,000  and  will  be  the  lead  sponsor  of  the  stadium  for  the  next  five  years.    Other  major  sponsors  include  Braman  Motorcars,  Florida  Turbine  Technologies,  Family  Lands  Remembered,  Gentile  Glas  Holloway  &  O’Mahoney  and  Caullfield  &  Wheeler.    Permanent  recognition  to  all  contributors.    We  are  also  working  with  the  School  District  to  resurface  the  track  as  part  of  the  project.  The  Jupiter  Stadium  Improvement  Project  will  enhance  the  experience  for  our  local  athletes  at  all  ages,  band  and  other  activities,  and  further  link  the  school  with  the  community,  its  residents  and  businesses.    If  you  have  not  yet  made  a  donation,  please  do  so  today.    All  donors  will  be  permanently  recognized  on  the  master  board  on  the  home  concession  building,  including  graduation  year  for  students  and  alumni.    If  you  know  a  business  that  would  like  to  be  a  sponsor,  please  let  us  know  –  major  sponsorship  levels  at  $50,000,  $25,000  and  $10,000.    We  work  with  major  sponsors  to  craft  a  Business  Partnership  Agreement  that  reflects  their  interests,  including  recognition,  program  or  academic  involvement.    We  are  working  to  build  lasting  and  mutually  beneficial  relationships  with  local  businesses.    Donations  By  Check  If  you  would  like  to  contribute  by  check,  please  make  it  payable  to  “Jupiter  High  School  –  Stadium  Account”  and  mail  it  to  Jupiter  High  School  Athletic  Boosters,  500  N.  Military  Trail,  Jupiter,  FL  33458.    Online  Donations  If  you  would  like  to  contribute  online,  you  can  do  so  through  the  Jupiter  High  School  Edline  Page  –  just  like  all  other  school  payments  at  www.edline.net/pages/jupiter_high_school  1. Florida Bandmasters Association2015 ALL-STATE CONCERT BAND AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

(For the 9th and 10th grade All-State Band – auditioning in September of 2014 for the January 2015 FMEA Conference)

WOODWINDS1. All-State Concert Band membership rules and regulations:

a) The student must be in the ninth or tenth grade.b) The decision of the selection committee is final.c) Only instruments listed on the All-State Application or in the 2015 All-State Concert Band Requirements printed in the handbook may audition.d) String Bass students audition for the Florida Orchestra Association.e) The student must be a member of the band program at their school and have their name submitted on the proper All-State Application form. The

Application form must be typed and signed by the band director and principal. The Application form must be submitted by the proper deadline date as setby the District.

f) The band director must be a member of FBA/FMEA by September 1, 2014.g) Students selected for any of the All-State groups must bring their own music stand, instrument, band uniform, etc.

2. All-State Concert Band Audition Requirements for Woodwinds:When the student enters the room, he/she will be asked to perform:

a) The specific prepared exercises for their instrument(s) as listed in the All-State Concert Band Audition Requirements. Note the suggested tempi.b) A chromatic scale covering the range for their instrument (as given in the All-State Concert Band Audition Requirements.) The scale will be performed in

even sixteenth notes at a minimum tempo of MM quarter note = 100. The scale will be tongued ascending and slurred descending where applicable. Scaleis to be memorized.

c) Twelve major scales, (in 2 minutes or less) from memory, complete with arpeggios, at a minimum tempo of MM quarter note = 120. Scales are to beperformed a minimum of 2 octaves where possible. Students who wish to play a 3rd octave may do so. All scales must be performed within the allotted timeframe. Scales must be performed in complete octaves. The scale pattern is . The arpeggio pattern is . The scales will be tonguedascending and slurred descending where applicable. Scales will be performed chromatically, starting with the concert key of: G, Ab, A, Bb, B, C, Db, D,Eb, E, F, Gb.

d) A short sight-reading exercise(s) to demonstrate the student’s reading ability. The student will have thirty seconds to study the piece before playing it.

Florida Bandmasters Association2015 ALL-STATE SYMPHONIC BAND AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

(For the 11th and 12th grade All-State Band – auditioning in September of 2014 for the January 2015 FMEA Conference)

BRASS & PERCUSSION

1. All-State Symphonic Band membership rules and regulations:a) The student must be in the eleventh or twelfth grade.b) The decision of the selection committee is final.c) Only instruments listed on the All-State Application or in the 2015 All-State Symphonic Band Requirements printed in the handbook may audition.d) String Bass students audition for the Florida Orchestra Association.e) The student must be a member of the band program at their school and have their name submitted on the proper All-State Application form. The

Application form must be typed and signed by the band director and principal. The Application form must be submitted by the proper deadline date as setby the District.

f) The band director must be a member of FBA/FMEA by September 1, 2014.g) Students selected for any of the All-State groups must bring their own music stand, instrument, band uniform, etc.

2. All-State Symphonic Band Audition Requirements for Brass and Percussion:When the student enters the room, he/she will be asked to perform:

a) The specific prepared exercises for their instrument(s) as listed in the All-State Symphonic Band Audition Requirements. Student will determine tempi.b) A chromatic scale covering the range for their instrument (as given in the All-State Symphonic Band Audition Requirements.) The scale will be performed

in even sixteenth notes at a minimum tempo of MM quarter note = 120. The scale will be tongued ascending and slurred descending where applicable.Scale is to be memorized.

c) Twelve major scales, (in 2 minutes or less) from memory, complete with arpeggios, at a minimum tempo of MM quarter note = 120. Scales are to beperformed a minimum of 2 octaves where possible. Students who wish to play a 3rd octave may do so. All scales must be performed within the allotted timeframe. Scales must be performed in complete octaves. The scale pattern is . The arpeggio pattern is . The scales will betongued ascending and slurred descending where applicable. Scales will be performed chromatically, starting with the concert key of: G, Ab, A, Bb, B, C,Db, D, Eb, E, F, Gb.

d) A short sight-reading exercise(s) to demonstrate the student’s reading ability. The student will have thirty seconds to study the piece before playing it.(Percussionists must audition on snare, xylophone and timpani. Sight-reading will be required in all areas.)

3. All-State Jazz Band Audition Requirements for Saxophone, Trumpet, Trombone and Piano, Guitar and Bass.When the student enters the room, he/she will be asked to perform:

a) The specific prepared exercises for their instrument as shown in the All-State Jazz Band Requirements. Performersshould use appropriate jazz articulation (not necessarily indicated).

b) Lead Trumpet - This is a separate audition, however you must also audition for section trumpet.c) Improvisation (optional) will be two choruses of “Fast Blues in F” from Jamey Aebersold’s Volume 2 Nothin’ But

Blues AND students will play the melody to “There Will Never Be Another You” then improvise one full chorus of“There Will Never Be Another You” (track 8) from Jamey Aebersold’s Volume 44 “Autumn Leaves”. Improvisationis mandatory if you wish to be considered for a solo chair.

d) Doubling (Saxophones Only.) After improvisation on main instrument students will improvise two choruses of “FastBlues in F” from Jamey Aebersold’s Volume 2 Nothin’ But Blues AND the melody to “There Will Never Be AnotherYou” then improvise one full chorus of “There Will Never Be Another You” (track 8) from Jamey Aebersold’sVolume 44 “Autumn Leaves”.

e) Sight-reading exercise to demonstrate the student’s reading ability. The student will have thirty seconds to study thepiece before playing it.

4. All-State Jazz Band Audition Requirements for Drum Set.When the student enters the room, he/she will be asked to perform:

a) The prepared exercises for drum set listed below.

b) The indicated number of measures in the four different styles listed below to demonstrate steady time keeping andrhythmic creativity. They should imagine themselves in a jazz combo situation backing a horn soloist.

1. Rock (16 bars) quarter note = 762. Bossa Nova (16 bars) quarter note = 1203. Swing (32 bars) quarter note = 1444. Jazz Samba (32 bars) quarter note = 100

c) Drummers will play the first portion of “The Lady is a Tramp” p. 22 from For Drummers Only: Jazz BandMusic Minus One Drummer (New Digitally Remastered Edition) Disc B, Track 4, (up to 1:19 mark on CD)

d) Sight-reading exercise to demonstrate the student’s reading ability. The student will have thirty seconds to study thepiece before playing it.
