A new understanding of code as a creativepractice in itself gains momentum

This course will explore ideas that now seemsomewhat obvious, but were all but unimaginable adecade ago.

Furthermore, these ideas are in a state of constant

flux, based on technologies and market mechanismsthat are barely out of beta.

Definition:

The description of a model or form as a form-generating system, controlled by defined parametersand executable by a computer. Typically involves

generative systems, simulation, data as input etc.

Aka: Computational design, generative art,parametricism etc.

Key concepts:

Separation of form-generating logic and theparameters that produce a specific form

A type of meta-design: Design the process, not

the specific object

Systems become parameter spaces of possibleoutputs, to be explored and harvested, oftenproducing unexpected results
