If you had a month’s long sabbatical from work, what would you do? Hit the beach? Catch up on your DVR? Spend time with family?

Judy Van Der Linden, marketing manager for InterDyn Artis, a GPUG® Partner Member, used her sabbatical to help Rotary

International’s End Polio Now initiative by climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. Don’t feel bad if your plans seem a little more, say, mellow. Th is was

Judy’s third sabbatical, and the fi rst two were spent with her family. It was time for a challenge.

September 2011 to March 2012 was spent in preparation, with Judy doing cardio workouts in the gym and hiking in her community with trekking poles and a 35-pound backpack. She learned how to use a Camelbak water system to practice drinking while walking. She tested water fi ltration tablets because the water in Africa needs to be boiled and fi ltered before consumption. She received the immunizations required for African travel and researched altitude sickness medication since an allergy prevented her from taking the standard. She researched and purchased equipment that would keep her alive in the extreme temperatures and altitude.And then the unthinkable – Judy broke her leg. “I asked my doctors if I would still be able to make the climb, and

they said yes,” says Judy. “I later found out they didn’t know anything about climbing or the terrain I’d be in.” With their blessing, she continued her preparations as best as she could, climbing to 6,683 feet, the highest she could go in North Carolina, but still almost 13,000 feet below the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro. On September 7, Judy and her husband, Scott, departed Charlotte, North Carolina, for Tanzania. As they boarded the fl ight from Amsterdam to Tanzania, Judy was pulled out of line. Travel to Tanzania requires passports to be more than six months from

expiring, and Judy’s was less than fi ve months from its expiration date. Th ey wouldn’t let her board.Twenty-six fellow climbers continued the journey to Tanzania, while Judy and Scott waited three days in Amsterdam for the U.S. consulate to open. When it did open, they told Judy she would not get an extension.

Th at’s when Judy broke down. Th eir group had started their climb that morning, and she hadn’t planned for this trip for a year to stop before she started. Th ey worked through the red tape, and Judy and Scott fl ew out on Tuesday morning to the Mt. Kilimanjaro Airport.

“Our Rotary group is so much like family that they arranged for us to do our safari fi rst, and then join a second climbing group,” says Judy.

Judy and Scott enjoyed a safari from Wednesday through Saturday, and then it was time for them to face the mountain on Monday morning. Th ey joined their new group (as good fortune would have it, this group was from their home church), but were fortunate to have the same leader as planned, a fellow Rotarian who was setting a world record by summiting four times in four weeks.Th eir three-hour bus drive to the base of the mountain overlooked the Kenyan plains, which Judy said was absolutely beautiful. Th ey began their six-day, 52-mile climb that afternoon, meeting village children coming home from school.“Each day was fi ve to seven hours of actual climbing. You have to take it very slow to acclimate to the altitude,” says Judy. “Th e summit climb started the evening of the fourth day. We got up that morning and walked six hours, then stopped at camp for lunch and rest. We had dinner at 5:00 pm and then went back to sleep or prep for the summit. We started the summit climb at 11:00 pm. It was pitch-black, and while the stars were stunning, it was so dark that I couldn’t see my hand in front of my face.” Th e group walked in a single fi le line, guided only by a headlamp and the sound of feet. Th e terrain was like walking in quick sand, extremely steep, and extremely cold. “We went slow, I can’t even explain it,” says Judy. “I felt like a zombie. Th e elevation and altitude slowed us down so much. It took me from 11:00 pm to 4:00 am to go from 15,400 to 17,900 feet. Th at’s when I vomited the fi rst time.”Th e head guide asked Judy if she wanted to continue; she said yes. She continued on a little further, and they stopped for a break where she was sick again, a sign of altitude sickness. Th e only cure is to descend since altitude sickness can be fatal if ignored.

“Th e head guide said, “no more mama, we go down now”, and with that he took my arm, one of my poles, and said we must go down and quickly,” says Judy. “I told my husband to continue, that he had to summit for both of us.”

Judy didn’t know that Scott was having trouble breathing and suff ering from altitude sickness, just not showing outward signs. As Judy descended, she continued to vomit. When she and the head guide reached base camp, she felt back to normal and was able to communicate with her guide, a sign that her body could handle that altitude, but unfortunately not the summit altitude. “As I arrived at base camp to rest in my tent, the sun was coming up. It was the most beautiful sunrise I’d ever seen. My husband and others said that at the summit you can actually see the curvature of the earth. Just the most amazing sight.” It’s also amazingly cold at the summit. Twenty degrees below zero means you don’t get to enjoy the sunrise very long on top of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

As Scott descended, it became clear that he was seriously ill. By the time he reached Judy, Scott collapsed in his tent, unable to breathe. Judy ran for oxygen and the head guide said they would need to take him down the mountain immediately.“When they take you down, it’s on a gurney with one wheel,” says Judy. “Six porters in four-man shifts, running down the mountain. Th e trail is only four feet wide, very rocky, and diffi cult to even walk. Unfortunately this is the only way off the mountain.”

Judy did not have the option to accompany Scott down the mountain, but would walk six hours alone with her guide to meet her group at the next base camp. Worried about Scott’s condition, they descended so quickly that they passed some of the group members who had left camp hours earlier. Judy’s guide was able to get a cell phone signal to the hospital. “I got to talk to him,” says Judy. “It took them eight hours to get him off the mountain, and he was in the oxygen ward. I didn’t understand what was happening.”

Th e next day was another eight-hour trek down over rocks and a faster pace than the ascension. Once they reached the base, Judy boarded a bus to the hotel, and then a few hours later they went to the hospital.

“I only started crying when I saw the hospital,” says Judy, refl ecting on the conditions that we take for granted in more established areas of the world (her story of the hospital could be another article in and of itself). “Scott was diagnosed with pulmonary edema, where his lungs fi lled with fl uid and his heart enlarged, and was in the hospital for three days.”

To get out of the hospital, Judy and Scott had to pay cash. Th ey went to reimburse them, they were shocked to fi nd that three days in the hospital, the ambulance ride, x-rays, two specialists, and four cab rides to the hospital was $283. As mentioned, a little diff erent than other parts of the world.

“Th e hospital was nasty, but he received very good care,” says Judy. “Th e people that helped us, especially Scott’s guide, I can’t begin to describe the concern he had for Scott. All in all, it truly was a life-changing event.”

Life-changing indeed, with so many things happening along the way.

“When I broke my leg, I never thought of not wanting to climb anymore. When we were stuck in Amsterdam, I could have given up. When the altitude medicine gave me hives on the third day, I could have given up then,” refl ects Judy. “But I’m just not a quitter. I had to do this because I kept thinking about people who are stricken with polio. Th ey didn’t choose to get polio, but they did, and they make the best of it,” says Judy. “Th at’s the one thing my husband really taught me, to turn any situation into a positive instead of a negative. I’m also showing my grandchildren that if you set your mind to do something, no matter the obstacles you’re faced with, you can overcome them.”Judy and Scott returned home 18 days after leaving their home. Scott was still ill, but the African doctors wanted him to see his regular doctor in the U.S. In addition to Scott’s hospitalization, another person in their group had two toes amputated from frostbite.

“When I tell people about our experience, they say “oh, that’s nice,” says Judy. “I don’t think they really realize what’s involved. I guess I didn’t really realize what would be involved. I kept hearing it would be the hardest thing I’d ever do in my life, and it defi nitely was. You have to have a lot of heart.”Judy is certainly not lacking in that area. You might think that one run up the mountain would be enough, but Judy needs to see that summit sunrise for herself and will be returning to Mt. Kilimanjaro.

“I know what to expect, so the fear of the unknown doesn’t exist,” says Judy. “My husband thinks that God was looking out for me since the boulders were still ahead and fellow climbers crawled over them, it scared them that much. I don’t think my leg would have made it over the boulders.”

Judy will spend the next year getting stronger and preparing for her next summit bid. She’s working with doctors who have climbed before and has renewed her passport, so those obstacles are behind her. When she returns to Africa, she hopes to spend more time with the children she saw on her ascent.“Some of the children we saw are orphans because their parents have died of AIDS,” says Judy. “I would love to go and spend some extra days with them. Th e way these children looked at us, asking for chocolate (the only English word they knew) and thinking about their life, I want to be able to help them in some way.”Th at heart and determination, an amazing combination, are sure to move this sweet woman to achieving her goal and seeing that magnifi cent sunrise.

An Exciting ConvergenceThe team is looking forward to Convergence (coming up March 18-21 in New Orleans) as it will be an opportunity for a large group of Users to see the web client, Windows 8 integration, and new features at the same time. “My Suggestion is in There!”There are 150 new features packed into Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013, many of which came as suggestions from Users via the Connect tool (connect.microsoft.com). “A couple Customers mentioned to me that they were excited to see their feature requests show up in the product,” says Errol. “They really felt part of the process as a result of that.”

Applause Gets NodsClap louder, folks. The product management team uses your response during events to pick the features that get promoted in their materials. According to Pam, “If Users clap and

cheer, we promote that feature in future events and list it as a community favorite.” GPUG

Moving On Up“For Users on older versions, now is a really good time to move up,” says Pam. “Even if you’re not on Microsoft Dynamics GP 2010, you can move up to Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013. There are features in this release that people have been waiting for, and looking at the feature list to see what you can take advantage of will help you in your decision-making process.”

Where Can I See More?All GPUG Regional Chapter meetings will feature 90 minutes of content on Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013. In addition to that, the 14-part Webinar series available at www.GPUG.com/member-resources/dynamics-gp-2013 offers a lot of information and can be accessed anytime. It’s Never Been Better“There’s never been a better time to be a Microsoft Dynamics GP User,” says Pam. “Users now have the power to choose how they want their product implemented, providing real impact to their bottom line and ROI. It’s not just cool technology, but it has real business value.”

The Betas Love ItUsers that participated in the beta program for Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 are happy campers, enjoying features such as the UI changes, BI, Word templates, and SRS reports. “Several Users went live within a matter of hours,” says Pam. “Many were on version 10 or older, so it was great for them to see the new enhancements very quickly.”

What’s Coming Next?As Jeff Trosen mentions in the Microsoft Member Showcase on page 22, work on “GP Next” has already begun. The product management team constantly reviews feedback requests that come in via the Connect tool, which makes for a “very innovative and fluid development process,” according to Chad. There isn’t a deadline for you to enter requests into Connect, but it’s better to get in there early so people can vote on your idea. “Majority wins, so you need to make sure your colleagues are voting,” says Pam.

MOST EXCITING FEATURE IN MICROSOFT DYNAMICS GP 2013It’s a tie between “Choose Printer at the Time of Printing” (for obvious reasons) and “Quantity Tolerances”.

The ability to track serial and lot numbers for drop-ship purchase orders.

Many to choose from, but “Choose Printer at Time of Printing” really hit home with me.

Multi-tenancy.

WHY ARE YOU SO EXCITED?Choosing the printer might be the most requested fix ever. I’m excited about “Quantity Tolerances” in the receivings area of POP as it now works for non-

inventory purchases as well as tracked items.

This feature is long overdue. Printing inconveniences

can potentially lead to lost or delayed documents, which can have significant consequences on business operations. I don’t know

how Users have lived without it!

It will enable hosting Partners to provide multiple instances of Microsoft Dynamics within the same database instance.

WHY SHOULD USERS BE EXCITED?Choosing the printer will officially relieve that horrible realization Users sometimes run into during the day. “Quantity Tolerances” will provide

greater controls within the procurement process around received quantities.

They’ll be able to truly track serial and lot number activity for all sales and purchasing transactions. This information can be very important for service and warranty work, as well as tracking returns.

Selecting a printer gives Users additional flexibility instead of locking them into one printer on their network.

I expect this feature will bring the cost of hosting down. It will also allow developers to manage multiple deployments with less overhead, facilitating a more economical management of multiple development cycles and versions.

Plan accordingly when it comes to educating your Users on the 100+ new features. This release contains scores of enhancements based on Users’ suggestions, so chances are good someone in your office has already

been asking for these improvements.

Be methodical. Do a test upgrade with thorough scenario testing to make sure that the system is functioning as expected and necessary before putting it in production.

A critical step during any implementation or upgrade is to ask, “Do my ISV solutions align with Microsoft’s strategy for the ERP?” If they don’t, then I encourage you to take a look at other technology

investments for both short-and long-term success.

Prior to upgrading, rethink the possibilities that multi-tenancy could provide. User organizations will be able to have a fully parallel test system housed in a single instance of SQL, and that could be of great benefit to your organization.

Dynamics GP solution. If you joined us in Seattle for GPUG Summit 2012, you got an

excellent opportunity to experience our community fi rsthand. What a great event it was, and

it was so fun to see Members truly helping other Members.

To commemorate the start of a new year, we thought it would be fun to run down some

2012 highlights of GPUG:

January: Th e GPUG Advisory Board welcomed two new board members: Tom

Weaver and Drew Rosen. Th ey bring great experience from a Member’s perspective, and we’ve

received valuable feedback and direction when it comes to webinars and Academy off erings.

February: We started the new SharePoint Special Interest Group (SIG),

reaching beyond Microsoft Dynamics GP to help educate Members on how integration to

technologies like SharePoint helps speed processes.

March: GPUG hosted more than 1,000 Users at DayONE at Convergence in

Houston. We also hosted 22 interactive sessions, birds of a feather roundtables, and more.

It was a great month to build awareness and grow the GPUG family!

April: Th e Education SIG started, helping those who use Microsoft Dynamics GP as

their fi nancial solution in the education market.

May: We held more than 41 events – lots of learning and networking!

June: With Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 coming in December, we reignited an Upgrade

SIG lead by Howard Swerdloff . Here Users learn best practices as they prepare for upgrades.

July: It was a busy month with GPUG Academy courses. While some Members were

on vacation, many others took the opportunity to attend virtual online courses.

August: Many Microsoft Dynamics GP Users are also Microsoft Dynamics CRM

Users – so we started a new SIG just for them! Now Users can learn more about how the

products work together.

September: It was all about “connections”. We hosted a dozen Regional Chapter

meetings in September alone, and folks learned more about SSRS as reporting decisions are

being made.

October: Th is was our favorite month of 2012, as we hosted 550 Members at GPUG

Summit! It’s like a big GPUG family reunion where Users reconnect and learn from one another.

November: We kicked off our Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 webinar series,

including 14 webinars to help Users prepare for the landmark new release.

December: Th is is a great month to get together on the local front at Regional

Chapters since many chapters are gathering to see Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 and learn

year-end tips and tricks.

Th is issue of GPUG Magazine concentrates on the exciting release of Microsoft Dynamics

GP 2013. You’ll read interviews from Users, Partners, and Microsoft on what to get excited

about and how it will help you move your business forward.

Th ank you to all who make GPUG what it is today. Let’s continue to connect, learn, and

Th e Research & Development Corporation of Newfoundland and Labrador (RDC) is a provincial Crown corporation responsible

for improving Newfoundland and Labrador’s R&D performance. RDC works with regional businesses, academia, and government

agencies and departments, making strategic investments in people, research opportunities, and infrastructure.

RDC has been a Premium Member since March 2012. Located on an island on Canada’s east coast, they are physically removed

from the larger Microsoft Dynamics GP community, but “participation in the online community has blurred the boundaries

Go Green with Agri-Cover, Inc.

Agri-Cover started a “Go Green” program in 2008. Within the fi rst

year of going green, the company cut its amount of waste going to the

local landfi ll in half. Here’s how Agri-Cover is delivering on its green

initiative:

#1: Reduce Waste Output: Implement a company-wide

recycling program

» Recycling bins were set up to be easily available in designated

stations around the plant fl oor; recycling eff orts include all

materials that the company’s local recycling center accepts

» Changed all pop machines to aluminum cans instead of plastic

bottles; money earned by recycling aluminum cans goes into a

fund for employee lunches

» Company-supplied drink cups are given to all employees to

reduce the amount of waste created by paper and Styrofoam

American Public University System (APUS) recently celebrated

the opening of its new, energy-effi cient Finance Center located

in the Charles Town-Ranson Corridor of West Virginia. Since

relocating its headquarters to Charles Town 10 years ago, APUS

has invested more than $47 million in local construction and

building renovation projects, including the state’s largest solar

array that opened in the spring of 2012 and the Academic Center

that opened in late 2010. Th e Finance Center includes offi ce and

meeting space for APUS’s more than 400 fi nance and administrative

staff who support more than 100,000 online students worldwide.

Th e building’s construction aimed for LEED certifi cation at the

Gold Level or higher, per standards set by the US Green Building

Council. Additionally, solar panels provide covered parking while

producing power for the building.

GPUG’s very own vice chairman, John Lowther, received

fantastic news this fall when he was named a Microsoft Most

Valued Professional (MVP). John is one of 13 Microsoft Dynamics

spend a lot of time helping to develop and educate their User and

Partner communities. John has more than 20 years’ experience

as a developer, 15 years as a database administrator, and 10 years

While most businesses probably prefer that the ERP system remain quietly behind the scenes, this is

particularly true for PANDORA Jewelry. Though famous for the charms that go into bracelets, the company offers other items as well. Guided by a dedication to making each moment matter with jewelry that is elegant yet affordable, it’s almost impossible to fathom finding terms like “general ledger” and “warehouse inventory” in the same sentence as PANDORA. That is, until a conversation with Susan Moore.

Susan moved across the country 18 months ago to join the company’s IT team as the business systems administrator. With the parent company in Denmark, a factory in Thailand, and thousands of franchises and customers everywhere in between, PANDORA is a truly global operation. Susan’s job is to oversee the third-party systems that feed into Microsoft Dynamics GP, which serves as the core ERP system and integrates financials, warehousing, and inventory in the U.S. and Canada. Her job description may be confined to North America, but when it comes to reporting, the requirements are worldwide.

And Microsoft Dynamics GP, she says, delivers. Susan has been working with Microsoft Dynamics GP since the mid-1990s and is often called on to lead technical sessions at GPUG® Summit.

There are many things she likes about the technology, but the ability to customize financial reporting remains at the top of her list. “Our parent company has rigorous reporting requirements,” she says. She found the default to customer class and ID number in the general ledger functionality within Microsoft Dynamics GP to be very limiting. So she hired WilloWare (www.willoware.com), which has already developed many Dexterity-based customizations for PANDORA, to create a business rule that overrides the general ledger default and splits out data from the thousands of invoices posted each day for

much more granular reports. “I set up the new customizations and the Users ignored it,” Susan says with a laugh. “It’s that simple.”

Running a close second on her favorites list are the eConnect interfaces, which allow external applications – including web services, point-of-sale systems, and legacy applications – to integrate with Microsoft Dynamics GP. PANDORA uses it to connect via the company’s cloud application, which Susan says is quite popular. “Our direct customers are franchises, and 75 percent of the orders come in through the cloud app, which we’ve integrated via eConnect,” she says. “It’s seamless, and it’s robust enough to easily handle thousands of orders per day from our franchises.” The cloud app performs so well, Susan says, that PANDORA’s global markets are standardizing on it.

PANDORA’s performance as a company is stellar as well. “The volume here is astonishing,” Susan says. “We’re on track to ship almost 30 million units this year.” And Microsoft Dynamics GP is on track to help. “The system and seamless integration have allowed us to grow,” she says. “Instead of having 25 people banging in orders and occasionally answering phone calls, we have an entire customer service department that really services the customers.”

In addition to her duties at PANDORA, Susan is the leader of GPUG’s Baltimore Chapter. Susan has a goal to have future meetings hosted onsite by Member organizations so that attendees can really get a feel for what’s being done with Microsoft Dynamics GP in Member organizations. Her other goal is to maintain the level of informative and interactive content that has been featured in their Chapter meetings.

The release of Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 is right around the corner. There is excitement over new features, anticipation of new efficiencies, and anxiety over the best way to upgrade successfully.

First, while upgrades are typically performed by IT, they are “business projects” and not “IT projects”. I stress this point because all departments impacted by ERP upgrades must be involved in completing the project.

In looking at upgrade best practices, whether related to Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 or other software, there are two key areas that need the most attention: planning and testing. This sounds simple, but it is imperative to know what you are upgrading from and what you are upgrading to. Identify all of your add-on products, custom reports, integrations, and customizations. Be sure you look at compatibilities and upgrade paths.

During the planning process, identify all products that touch your system in any way. This can be add-ons from independent software vendors (ISVs), legacy systems with ERP integrations, or custom reports or customizations specifically created for your company. Speak to each vendor; look at each system and document upgrade paths, and review compatibility. Typically, all ISV products must be upgraded along with the ERP system. Plan your timeline accordingly based on add-on release dates. Leverage CustomerSource and the Microsoft Dynamics GPUG® Community for information on upgrade hot topics. Look for warnings related to sequence of events, special items to be aware of, table or field changes, and any other pertinent documentation.

Review the “What’s New” documentation provided with upgrades. Look for new features and take the opportunity to “un-customize” your system. It is surprising to see how many features get customized only to be

included in a future version. Look at other customizations and challenge them. Remove any customizations possible so you have less to maintain and upgrade. Reduce complexity as much as possible prior to upgrading.

System requirements are also important during the planning process. While your general infrastructure may exceed the system requirements, look for those hidden infrastructure costs. There might be one or two percent of Users with older workstations that won’t run the upgraded software efficiently. There could be a new feature you want to leverage that will require new hardware purchases. Be sure you have planned and budgeted for these items.

Involve all departments in the planning process. Their assistance is needed to identify and review business processes for testing. This is a great opportunity to document how you do business and to look for opportunities to improve processes. Develop a test plan with the assistance of the other departments to validate, support, and/or improve all current processes. Test plans should be broken down into functional areas. A person from each area should be assigned responsibility for business process testing.

Write out testing scenarios using actual data. Detail data to be entered as the test with expected results. Number your test scripts and create a log to maintain the results. Create a second, smaller set of tests to be used for validation of the final upgrade.

During the planning process, assign a team to work on the project. There will be resources required for the upgrade, as well as developers or report writers, but most important is the test team.

The timeline also should be developed during the planning process. Be realistic. Accounting is not going to test during a month-end closing week. Payroll will not test on payday, and nobody will test during their scheduled vacation.

Develop a recovery plan as well. In the event something goes wrong during the upgrade, how do you recover, and how long will it take? Be sure backups after each step of the upgrade are part of your plan. Upgrade in test and move to production as the final step. That way if something does go wrong, recovery is easier.

Communicate the plan and be sure everyone understands all pieces of it, especially what is expected of them.

With a good plan in place, set up a test environment and begin the upgrade testing process. I always recommend maintaining a test environment as close to, but as separated from, production as possible. By this, I mean you want a system that replicates your production environment – including legacy products, customizations, and integrations – but you do not want any of it to actually touch the production environment. When it is time to test an upgrade, I recommend a third test environment, so you can leave a test environment in place at your current version. This is a good practice for comparison purposes if you need to compare data from pre and post upgrade.

Create your initial test environment, including servers and workstations to replicate production. Be sure your testing team has access to the new environment. Perform a “brief” test to validate the testing environment is working as production does. Once that is complete, you can begin your test upgrade. Follow the plan you created and validate the plan as you go through it. Do you have each product upgrade in the correct sequence? Is there anything that came up during the upgrade process that you need to be aware of? Add it to the plan. Record how long each step of the upgrade takes so you can validate that you’ve given yourself enough time for the upgrade of the production environment. Be aware of automated processes that may run during your anticipated upgrade time. Stop them if possible before upgrading the live system.

The testing team should run through each test script and validate the results. Maintain an issue log of anything that does not pass, but keep testing other components. Complete the remediation of any pending issues and record the resolution. Retest that piece and close the issue. Be sure the resolution is added to your upgrade plan if necessary.

Grant Users access to the test system so they can continue testing. Add test scripts for any new items to the testing documents. (This is extremely handy for the next upgrade.)

Don’t be afraid to test multiple times. The week before the final upgrade, conduct testing with the full User community so they

know what changes to expect and how to use the new features. Following testing and resolution of issues, you are ready to upgrade. Disable production

systems so no Users can change data. Move production data to the test environment and upgrade data there. While the data is processing, code can be upgraded on the production servers and workstations. When the data is completely upgraded, validate it and move it to production.

Have a test team available to validate the data in production and test some of the items that failed initially so you can make sure all applicable fixes were applied.

At this point, your upgrade is complete, and Users should be able to take advantage of the new features. GPUG

Lisa Armstrong, senior consultant with SSi Consulting, and Christina Phillips, supervising consultant with BKD, LLP

share their talents with GPUG® Academy by teaching in-depth courses to Microsoft Dynamics GP Users. We caught up with Lisa and Christina during their downtime to get the value of the classes for Users, why they think the hands-on environment works well for learning, and what they most enjoy about teaching.

Focused on ValueLisa specializes in financials, Microsoft Dynamics GP

administration, purchase order processing, and accounts payable while Christina specializes in project management and methodology. Both women feel the greatest value in Academy classes is that Users have the ability to access a lot of practical experience at a fairly low cost.

“By taking a class, you hear from people who work with the product every day in addition to the instructor,” says Christina.

If you sign up for a web-based class, you have the added benefit of not having to leave the comfort of your home or office.

“If you have an Internet and phone connection, you can take the class anywhere,” says Lisa. “It’s less distracting because you can sit anywhere, allowing you a little more flexibility.”

Active Learning Through Hands-on Experience

The hands-on nature of Academy classes is key to understanding what you’re doing rather than just watching the

instructor click through slides or demo the product.“Role-playing helps you learn more quickly and effectively

than if I just demonstrated what to do,” says Lisa. “Agreed,” says Christina. “You can passively participate in a

seminar or webinar – you can even passively read – but you can’t be passive in an Academy class because the hands-on piece forces you to commit to understanding the material.”

User Success Leads to SatisfactionBoth Lisa and Christina have received positive feedback from

their classes, hearing stories about how Users have been able to shave considerable time and annoyances off their projects.

“I’ve received emails from people who have gone back to their desks and changed things that have been bugging them for years,” says Christina. “In some cases it was a 15-minute fix – maybe changing a tab sequence or building a SmartList that actually has the data you want.”

Those wins for Users keep Lisa and Christina enthused about what they do and looking for new ways to make Users more efficient in their roles. The Academy classes are also an opportunity for them to connect with Users who really want to achieve success with their implementation.

“Organizations tend to cut back on training dollars, but hands-on training is the one thing I’ve seen that improves a Customers’ satisfaction with the software,” says Christina. “Overall, organizations that understand that notion are happier with their software than those that don’t invest in training.” GPUG

If you had a month’s long sabbatical from work, what would you do? Hit the beach? Catch up on your DVR? Spend time with family?

Judy Van Der Linden, marketing manager for InterDyn Artis, a GPUG® Partner Member, used her sabbatical to help Rotary

International’s End Polio Now initiative by climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro. Don’t feel bad if your plans seem a little more, say, mellow. This was

Judy’s third sabbatical, and the first two were spent with her family. It was time for a challenge.

September 2011 to March 2012 was spent in preparation, with Judy doing cardio workouts in the gym and hiking in her community with trekking poles and a 35-pound backpack. She learned how to use a Camelbak water system to practice drinking while walking. She tested water filtration tablets because the water in Africa needs to be boiled and filtered before consumption. She received the immunizations required for African travel and researched altitude sickness medication since an allergy prevented her from taking the standard. She researched and purchased equipment that would keep her alive in the extreme temperatures and altitude.

And then the unthinkable – Judy broke her leg. “I asked my doctors if I would still be able to make the climb, and

they said yes,” says Judy. “I later found out they didn’t know anything about climbing or the terrain I’d be in.” With their blessing, she continued her preparations as best as she could, climbing to 6,683 feet, the highest she could go in North Carolina, but still almost 13,000 feet below the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

On September 7, Judy and her husband, Scott, departed Charlotte, North Carolina, for Tanzania. As they boarded the flight from Amsterdam to Tanzania, Judy was pulled out of line. Travel to Tanzania requires passports to be more than six months from

expiring, and Judy’s was less than five months from its expiration date. They wouldn’t let her board.

Twenty-six fellow climbers continued the journey to Tanzania, while Judy and Scott waited three days in Amsterdam for the U.S. consulate to open. When it did open, they told Judy she would not get an extension.

That’s when Judy broke down. Their group had started their climb that morning, and she hadn’t planned for this trip for a year to stop before she started. They worked through the red tape, and Judy and Scott flew out on Tuesday morning to the Mt. Kilimanjaro Airport.

“Our Rotary group is so much like family that they arranged for us to do our safari first, and then join a second climbing group,” says Judy.

Judy and Scott enjoyed a safari from Wednesday through Saturday, and then it was time for them to face the mountain on Monday morning. They joined their new group (as good fortune would have it, this group was from their home church), but were fortunate to have the same leader as planned, a fellow Rotarian who was setting a world record by summiting four times in four weeks.

Their three-hour bus drive to the base of the mountain overlooked the Kenyan plains, which Judy said was absolutely beautiful. They began their six-day, 52-mile climb that afternoon, meeting village children coming home from school.

“Each day was five to seven hours of actual climbing. You have to take it very slow to acclimate to the altitude,” says Judy. “The summit climb started the evening of the fourth day. We got up that morning and walked six hours, then stopped at camp for lunch and rest. We had dinner at 5:00 pm and then went back to sleep or prep for the summit. We started the summit climb at 11:00 pm. It was pitch-black, and while the stars were stunning, it was so dark that I couldn’t see my hand in front of my face.”

The group walked in a single file line, guided only by a headlamp and the sound of feet. The terrain was like walking in quick sand, extremely steep, and extremely cold.

“We went slow, I can’t even explain it,” says Judy. “I felt like a zombie. The elevation and altitude slowed us down so much. It took me from 11:00 pm to 4:00 am to go from 15,400 to 17,900 feet. That’s when I vomited the first time.”

The head guide asked Judy if she wanted to continue; she said yes. She continued on a little further, and they stopped for a break where she was sick again, a sign of altitude sickness. The only cure is to descend since altitude sickness can be fatal if ignored.

“The head guide said, “no more mama, we go down now”, and with that he took my arm, one of my poles, and said we must go down and quickly,” says Judy. “I told my husband to continue, that he had to summit for both of us.”

Judy didn’t know that Scott was having trouble breathing and suffering from altitude sickness, just not showing outward signs.

As Judy descended, she continued to vomit. When she and the head guide reached base camp, she felt back to normal and was able to communicate with her guide, a sign that her body could handle that altitude, but unfortunately not the summit altitude.

“As I arrived at base camp to rest in my tent, the sun was coming up. It was the most beautiful sunrise I’d ever seen. My husband and others said that at the summit you can actually see the curvature of the earth. Just the most amazing sight.”

It’s also amazingly cold at the summit. Twenty degrees below zero means you don’t get to enjoy the sunrise very long on top of Mt. Kilimanjaro.

As Scott descended, it became clear that he was seriously ill. By the time he reached Judy, Scott collapsed in his tent, unable to breathe. Judy ran for oxygen and the head guide said they would need to take him down the mountain immediately.

“When they take you down, it’s on a gurney with one wheel,” says Judy. “Six porters in four-man shifts, running down the mountain. The trail is only four feet wide, very rocky, and difficult to even walk. Unfortunately this is the only way off the mountain.”

Judy did not have the option to accompany Scott down the mountain, but would walk six hours alone with her guide to meet her group at the next base camp. Worried about Scott’s condition, they descended so quickly that they passed some of the group members who had left camp hours earlier. Judy’s guide was able to get a cell phone signal to the hospital.

“I got to talk to him,” says Judy. “It took them eight hours to get him off the mountain, and he was in the oxygen ward. I didn’t understand what was happening.”

The next day was another eight-hour trek down over rocks and a faster pace than the ascension. Once they reached the base, Judy boarded a bus to the hotel, and then a few hours later they went to the hospital.

“I only started crying when I saw the hospital,” says Judy, reflecting on the conditions that we take for granted in more established areas of the world (her story of the hospital could be another article in and of itself). “Scott was diagnosed with pulmonary edema, where his lungs filled with fluid and his heart enlarged, and was in the hospital for three days.”

To get out of the hospital, Judy and Scott had to pay cash. They were shocked to find that three days in the hospital, the ambulance ride, x-rays, two specialists, and four cab rides to the hospital was $283. As mentioned, a little different than other parts of the world.

“The hospital was indescribable, but he received very good care,” says Judy. “The people that helped us, especially Scott’s guide, I can’t begin to describe the concern he had for Scott. All in all, it truly was a life-changing event.”

Life-changing indeed, with so many things happening along the way.

“When I broke my leg, I never thought of not wanting to climb

anymore. When we were stuck in Amsterdam, I could have given up. When the altitude medicine gave me hives on the third day, I could have given up then,” reflects Judy.

“But I’m just not a quitter. I had to do this because I kept thinking about people who are stricken with polio. They didn’t choose to get polio, but they did, and they make the best of it,” says Judy. “That’s the one thing my husband really taught me, to turn any situation into a positive instead of a negative. I’m also showing my grandchildren that if you set your mind to do something, no matter the obstacles you’re faced with, you can overcome them.”

Judy and Scott returned home 18 days after leaving their home. Scott was still ill, but the African doctors wanted him to see his regular doctor in the U.S. In addition to Scott’s hospitalization, another person in their group had two toes amputated from frostbite.

“When I tell people about our experience, they say “oh, that’s nice,” says Judy. “I don’t think they really realize what’s involved. I guess I didn’t really realize what would be involved. I kept hearing it would be the hardest thing I’d ever do in my life, and it definitely was. You have to have a lot of heart.”

Judy is certainly not lacking in that area. You might think that one run up the mountain would be enough, but Judy needs to see that summit sunrise for herself and will be returning to Mt. Kilimanjaro.

“I know what to expect, so the fear of the unknown doesn’t exist,” says Judy. “My husband thinks that God was looking out for me since the boulders were still ahead and fellow climbers crawled over them, it scared them that much. I don’t think my leg would have made it over the boulders.”

Judy will spend the next year getting stronger and preparing for her next summit bid. She’s working with doctors who have climbed before and has renewed her passport, so those obstacles are behind her. When she returns to Africa, she hopes to spend more time with the children she saw on her ascent.

“Some of the children we saw are orphans because their parents have died of AIDS,” says Judy. “I would love to go and spend some extra days with them. The way these children looked at us, asking for chocolate (the only English word they knew) and thinking about their life, I want to be able to help them in some way.”

That heart and determination, an amazing combination, are sure to move this sweet woman to achieving her goal and seeing that magnificent sunrise. GPUG

’Tis the season to be thinking about the holidays, family, what you want in the upcoming New Year, and yes, it’s also time to be

thinking about your annual year-end close in Microsoft Dynamics GP. Does that last item seem burdensome? Well, it shouldn’t be, even if you’re new to Microsoft Dynamics GP! There are tons of resources on CustomerSource as well as all over the blogosphere, and GPUG® offers up an annual webinar each December to help Members smooth out the wrinkles. You’ve buttoned-up the 11 previous months, so doesn’t it make sense that the final one won’t be all that different in the grand scheme of things? Of course it does, and here are a few tips to help you successfully plod through this important series of tasks:

» Make a backup of your data once you’ve got everything posted and you’re ready to begin the year-end close process. If you’re not familiar with this process, make friends with someone who does as this process is not overly time-consuming and can make your life easier should you make an error along the way.

» Close your subledgers first, saving the General Ledger for last. Review each subledger area to make sure that all batches that should be posted in the current year aren’t overlooked.

» If you’re a Fixed Assets Management module User, be sure to close Payables Management first as the former feeds the latter, and finding out that you missed a capital asset isn’t good. Fixed Assets Management module is a subledger, too, so if you have it in your arsenal, don’t forget about it.

» If you’re a US Payroll module User, don’t forget to download your tax tables before you process pay runs in January. They don’t take long at all and will have you up-to-date with any applicable rate or withholding changes.

» Leverage your new backup friend from the first step to create a new database backup after each subledger close has been finalized so that you’ll never have to go back more than one step as you progress.

» Before you begin closing the General Ledger module, check to see that the “Allow: Posting to History” checkbox is checked in the General Ledger Setup window. If checked, Microsoft Dynamics GP will automatically update Retained Earnings going back one closed year so you won’t have to. You can close your year and not sit waiting for your auditors’ inevitable entries.

» Create a SmartList to verify that your account Posting Types are correct, and then save it as a “Favorite” to your User ID so you

can use it every year. If an account is mislabeled and isn’t caught before the General Ledger close process is completed, KB #864913 provides a remedy. Trust me, finding these edits via SmartList before you run this routine is a much easier avenue to travel.

» If this entire process still makes you nervous, restore a database backup onto a TEST database and run through the entire process there first. You’ll know exactly what to expect and how long it will take. Restore your backup more than once and get your speed up!

» Don’t forget to create a calendar for the New Year so that Microsoft Dynamics GP knows about the next set of fiscal periods.

Hopefully some or all of these items will assist you in making this important, annual routine as easy as possible. Seek out help if you need it, run backups frequently as you go, and try a test close first if that makes you more comfortable with the whole routine. As time goes by, you’ll find that this yearly ritual isn’t as overwhelming as some might think. GPUG

Fast forward 27 years, and

the shipping process is the

click of a download button,

but the commitment to a

quality product is still

there. GPUG® sat down with Jeff to talk about

the nuts and bolts, technical aspect of releasing a product, a nice

bookend to what you normally hear on the product management

side of life (not to worry – we have an interview with the product

management team on page 24).

GPUG: When did your team start developing Microsoft Dynamics

GP 2013?

Jeff Trosen (JT): We’ve been in development for two and a half

years and were working with prototypes before that. Th e product

will be released to market (RTM) and available for download in late

December.

GPUG: Th e beta version of Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 was fi rst

available in September. What type of feedback did you receive

on the product?

JT: Th e beta version of the product has 125 new features and across

the board, the feedback has been very positive. We have a fun story

where a Customer in Wyoming that’s been with us for a while wanted

to get the beta version as soon as possible, so they fl ew their private

jet to Fargo to pick up their favorite support engineer and developer ,

then fl ew back to Wyoming for the install.

GPUG: What kinds of adoption goals do you set once a new

version is released?

JT: We have historical milestones that show us adoption over the

fi rst six months and year, so we track our adoption against that.

Convergence will be within three months of the launch, so that will

be a great way for us to poll people, and our support organization in

Fargo is constantly in touch with Users and then sharing information

with us regarding the types of calls and questions they’re receiving.

GPUG: Th e product management team has numerous launch

events scheduled. How does your team fi t into those?

JT: My team taught many of the technical presentations at the

Microsoft Dynamics GP Technical Airlfi t this fall. We also brought the

development team over to the General Session, and they got a standing

ovation. It’s fun for them to be in front of that. Th e product management

team also gathers feedback from the launch events and feeds them back

to my team. When you’re in the home stretch, getting that feedback from

Customers and Partners helps fi re the team up to cross the fi nish line.

GPUG: I just have to ask – how quickly will you start working on

the next major release?

JT: We started specifi cation planning for “GP Next” last summer.

Th is December’s release is diff erent than what we’ve done in the past

as we’re introducing the web client. When we ship in December, all

functionality for fi nance and distribution will be ready, with HR and

project planning functionality to come. Every three months we’ll

update registration keys, and when Partners and Users download

those, they’ll get the new functionality. (Side note – for our desktop

client, all modules will be available on day one.)

A small part of our team will stay focused on this current release and

delivering that functionality, and the rest will move on to “GP Next”,

focusing on innovations with Windows 8 and the next two releases of

Microsoft Offi ce so the technology works well in the cloud and with

the stack. We’ll also review the top-rated Customer suggestions that we

didn’t get a chance to include in this version. TM

JT: We built our Business Analyzer,

which has touch motion through

diff erent reports and graphs, for the

Surface. If you build for Windows 8, you

get the benefi t of being able to use the

product on Surface and other mobile

devices.

A new thing for us is that when we

release Microsoft Dynamics Business

Analyzer for Windows 8, it will be

available in the Microsoft app store. So

whether you want the latest version of

Angry Birds or Business Analyzer, it’s all

there.

GPUG: You mentioned building out

the technology for the cloud. What’s

the cadence for making sure products

work well in a hosted environment?

JT: We have the technology to take our

products and ISV products to the cloud,

but it’s putting them through testing and

performance tuning to make sure they’re

optimized for the web client.

GPUG: Will any of your beta installs

be on the web client?

JT: We are working with fi ve hosting

Partners and hope to have some of the

beta installs live by RTM.

GPUG: How do you recommend Users

choose between the desktop and web

clients?

JT: Users who aren’t in the offi ce as

much, perhaps sales managers who

need to access forms or people working

diff erent hours or from home, are good

candidates for the web client. We also

recommend it for larger Customers

that have their Users in a larger

geography, not sitting together in one

building. Being able to pull up Microsoft

Dynamics GP in a web browser makes it

easier for them to access what they need,

when they need it.

GPUG: You’ve shared a lot of great insight here, Jeff . Is there anything else you’d like to

share with our readers?

JT: With the portfolio of products we have in the market, I just want people to understand that

there is a dedicated group of people thinking about Microsoft Dynamics GP every day and how

to bring it to the next level. We take a lot of pride in what we do and were the early adopters of

Microsoft Offi ce integration, web client, and more. GPUG

on page 22, work on “GP Next” has already begun. Th e product

management team constantly reviews feedback requests that

come in via the Connect tool, which makes for a “very innovative

and fl uid development process,” according to Chad. Th ere isn’t a

deadline for you to enter requests into Connect, but it’s better to

get in there early so people can vote on your idea. “Majority wins,

so you need to make sure your colleagues are voting,” says Pam.

GPUG: You started Integrity Data 16 years ago. How did the

company get its start?

Patrick Doolin (PD): I started out in the channel working for a

Partner organization and decided to branch out on my own to

provide Microsoft Dynamics GP customizations for Partners. I

named the company Integrity Data as that’s what we wanted to

represent to the market – the highest quality product and service

from somebody Partners and Users could trust. We continually

gained business from new Partners and Users who heard of our

work and reputation. Our strength has been our ability to listen

to the User’s situation, quickly determine a solution, and present

it to them without sounding too “techie.”

Our fi rst resalable product was developed in 2000 and

managed leave time for employees. After that took off we started

to build additional tools for payroll and human resources. In

2003, we branded ourselves as the HR/payroll ISV, and it worked

out very well for us. Many of our products became part of the

core Microsoft Dynamics GP HR and Payroll product off ering

in 2007.

GPUG: After you partnered with Microsoft to resell your

products under their brand, how did you decide what to do

next?

PD: We knew that Partners and Users would perceive us as having

been acquired by Microsoft, so we immediately began designing

products to fi ll places where there were still needs. Th e dynamics

of the market were such that we could deliver functionality faster

than Microsoft as we didn’t have to wait for major releases of the

product.

GPUG: Tell us a little about the products you off er today.

PD: We now have 11 products that are add-ons to Microsoft

Dynamics GP HR and Payroll. Th ey help with tasks such as

managing leave time, entering negative deductions, calculating

paychecks based on hypothetical situations, and emailing direct

deposit and W-2 statements, to name a few (you can view the full

list of Integrity Data’s products on their catalog at http://tinyurl.

com/7zlgthg).

In addition to our HR and Payroll products, we also identifi ed

a huge need for fl exible workfl ows and notifi cations across all of

Microsoft Dynamics GP. A few years ago we started investigating

how we could off er a solution. Th rough that investigation process,

we were able to identify technology that would allow us to bring

fl exible business process automation to not only HR and Payroll

in Microsoft Dynamics GP, but also to all areas of the Microsoft

Dynamics products, including any ISV add-on solutions.

Th at solution, U-LINC, was released in early 2012 and enables

workfl ow, alerts, and notifi cations on any data from any window

inside of Microsoft Dynamics. It is as simple as identifying

the information you want to approve or be notifi ed about,

determining who is involved, and classifying what you want

included in the email notifi cation. Approvals can even be made

right from the email off a smartphone. It works within Microsoft

Dynamics without changing the way Users do business and

without changing software confi gurations.

GPUG: What’s coming up next for your team?

PD: Besides going full steam ahead with U-LINC, we’ve just

released a new HR/Payroll enhancement which gives Users

the ability to adjust deductions. Th at functionality has been

requested for a long time, and we’re glad to provide a solution to

the problem. We will also continue to focus on U-LINC, helping

Users automate their business processes, leverage workfl ows,

and have real-time interaction with ERP data, regardless of if

they’re an ERP User or not.

Over the next few years we will continue to provide innovation on

tools that are self-service focused, with accessibility through mobile

at Convergence. I just received my Microsoft Surface™, and I’m excited

to see how it will be part of how we expand on the mobile platform.

GPUG: Sixteen years in, what do you like about the Microsoft

Dynamics GP community?

PD: We have had the privilege of meeting many great Partners and

Users over the years. I really enjoy learning about all of the unique

businesses and how they are using our products. One of the benefi ts

is that people are comfortable talking with each other about things

that are working well, not working well, and what they would like

to see. It is a very cordial marketplace. It’s also a mature product, so

the community brings specifi cs to you, not vague things. GPUG has

been a great addition in that Users are very interested in engaging

and sharing what they’re experiencing, what they’re looking for, and

providing feedback. Because of that, we are able to get a lot more

done in less time because the communication gap isn’t there.

We want to provide solutions for areas where information and

processes can be improved. Th at’s where we started 16 years ago, and

that is still our focus today.

GPUG: What excites you about the release of Microsoft Dynamics

GP 2013?

PD: Th ere are many good features, but the ability to run Microsoft

Dynamics GP in a browser is a very powerful feature. Our company

is very impressed at how well Microsoft has delivered on that, and

we anticipate many Users will be happy with these new capabilities.

When we look at the ever-changing marketplace, with

everything that has gone on with technology and the cloud,

Microsoft Dynamics GP has such maturity that people want to see

it progress, continuing to provide the value people are looking for,

and not be replaced. Th at’s a key focus for Partners, Users, ISVs,

and Microsoft. Microsoft Dynamics GP 2013 is a specifi c play for

the Microsoft team, proving how this particular product has been

around for so long but continues to evolve and be a very powerful

tool for Users.

Our focus as a company is to serve current Users. Th e User base for

Microsoft Dynamics GP is a big, strong, and very savvy group. Th ey

know what they need, what their pain is, and can articulate what they’re

looking for. If there is one thing we can do more, it’s to hear from Users

about what they’re looking for regarding workfl ow, interactions with

data, and such, so we can do a better job of providing them with tools

and features that aren’t being developed elsewhere. GPUG

When it comes

to getting

the most

out of the

technology

on behalf of her organization and the clients it serves, Cindi Todd

believes so strongly in sharing experiences that she launched a new

group for just that purpose. Todd is controller of the Susquehanna

Association for the Blind and Vision Impaired, or SABVI, which relies

on Microsoft Dynamics GP to manage areas critical to the Pennsylvania-

based organization’s ability to serve the more than 2,000 individuals

who rely on it each year. What culminated in the launch of her local

chapter began two years ago when she joined the national GPUG®

group. “The people in GPUG love to share information, and when

you’re working with an ERP system that’s so complex, it’s important to

connect with others who have encountered the same issues,” she says.

The central mission of SABVI is to help people who are blind or vision

impaired achieve the level of independence that’s best for them. This is

accomplished with education, rehabilitation services and programs, and

employment opportunities. SABVI employees manufacture products

such as pads and chin straps for military helmets; the organization also

employs people whose job is to close out government contracts.

In fact, the revenues generated from employment contribute 90

percent of the cost of services offered by SABVI – most of which

are offered free of charge – including such as home-based

assistance and a preschool attended by students both with

and without vision issues. Managing production costs, along

with the range of services, presents the challenge of diversity

within the infrastructure. “The key to GP is its complete

integration,” says Todd, who uses the system for inventory, AP,

AR, fixed assets and, in recent months, the module for MRP

(manufacturing/materials resource planning), which she plans

to use for total costing in the future. “We get everything into

the system and then get everything out with various reporting

tools, including Microsoft FRx.”

Todd says Microsoft Dynamics GP allows everyone to see important

information in a more complete and timely manner, liberating

employees from spreadsheets where inventory and other critical

information once resided and was sometimes current but often

was not. It integrates nicely with other software, such as Microsoft

Forecaster, which not only saves time in terms of data entry, but also

alerts people quickly when adjustments are necessary. The system also

helps with data mining. “We used to send one organization a copy of

each invoice, and then they manually entered it into a spreadsheet,” she

says. “The data was right there, and all I needed to do was send it to

them in a report and they can import it once.”

Getting the maximum value from the technology is central to her

experience with GPUG. “While it might be a bit overwhelming, it

is so incredibly helpful,” she says, recalling her trip to the group’s

summit in Las Vegas. “There’s so much to GP that you don’t know

what you don’t know until you hear about it.”

Based on that experience, Todd says she’s wanted to help get a group

together closer to home for more than a year now. And, with one

meeting behind her, Todd feels optimistic about the group’s future and

its ability to not only learn from the experiences of other Members, but

also to influence enhancements made to Microsoft Dynamics GP in

the future by speaking to Microsoft in a unified voice. The first meeting

of the South Central Pennsylvania Regional Chapter took place at

SABVI’s office and was attended by about 25 people. Based on input

at the new chapter’s initial meeting, the topic for its second gathering

will be SmartList Builder within Microsoft Dynamics GP, which will

be discussed and demonstrated. “We want to stay as informal as

possible while still doing some training but also being sure to have time

for networking and discussing issues,” says Todd. “We’re still getting

our legs.” GPUG
