On a beautiul early August morning later that summer, my riends and I set out to run the10K which we had trained to run together. Our riends rom our disciple study group cameto cheer us along the streets o the KC Plaza. I was only able to complete that 10K becauseo the ongoing encouragement and unity o riends. Alice, 70 years young and longtimerunner o our community group jumped o the start line and ran beside me. In that mo-ment, I recognized the possibilities o riendship without personal gain, and I was grateulto share the love o running with Alice.
That December, our upliting and talented praise team surprised our amily by making apersonalized home visit to see us! They shared holiday-themed, warm-hearted songsand traditional holiday cheer simply to make us happy. I have been utterly changed by thecontinued love shared by our amily, riends like amily, and church amily, as well as all othe blessings that we have experienced through our aith in Christs mercy, grace and love.
Alex graduated high school, went to college and immediately became a ree agent undraising
advocate or MS. She worked with the campus organization known as RAMS, whichmeant Rocking Against Multiple Sclerosis. Everyone in the amily has worked as a reeagent, inspired by Alex to actively engage in und raising to fnd a cure or MS. The undraising took a leap two years ago while my husband and I were training or a triathlon. Thetriathlon was intended to be a private event between Scott, my husband, and I, but it endedup being a surprise community event that not only encouraged me in my quest or the fnishline, but was what propelled our oundations creation. The attendees that day, nearly 250people, presented a check to me at the fnish line to start our oundation. Our missionstatement was clear: Encouraging a world with MS, because I was encouraged that dayto seek and reach beyond what MS attempts to keep rom me.
Twelve years ago, MS moved into our house and occupied a small room tucked out o theway o our lives. Our lives continued on virtually unaected or quite awhile, but over thelast two years MS has begun to occupy our entire house. MS is messy, doesnt clean upater itsel, meets us at every turn and alters our daily lives on a daily basis... and it doesnteven pay rent!
Phpp 2:1-2:If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if anycomfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spiritand purpose.
