Steve Bush as well as carrying out paid work as the manager of Trees for Canterbury – a not-for-profit native plant nursery and environmental and welfare project – he gives his time voluntarily to coordinate planting days and fundraise

Riki Welsh (Youth Award)
The majority of Riki’s volunteer work has been done with the Fanau’ola Canterbury Youth Sector (FOCYS) Youth Group at Pacific Trust Canterbury
Matthew Meek (Youth Award)
A member of the Affinity Trust (which works with children 0-11 years and their families), Matt supports Wharenui School with events and activities such gardening, discos, sports teams and school trips, as well as his paid work
Ian MacDiarmid undertakes rostered duties as a Citizens Advice Bureau interviewer, providing advice and support to the community
Connie Ashworth organises social events and entertainment for residents of the City Council’s housing complex in Fletcher Place, as well as organising the catering and raising funds for charity
Laureen Melville has given longstanding service to the Riccarton Voluntary Library, and is also active with the local garden club and Probus
Susan Rowlands has volunteered for numerous groups over the years ranging from residents associations, to Neighbourhood Support to those that support people learning to speak English
Deirdre Groube undertakes rostered duties as a Citizens Advice Bureau interviewer, providing advice and support to the community
Allan Fone As a member of Hope Presbyterian’s Firewood Ministry, Al heads up a team of volunteers who, throughout the year, source and chop up firewood and then deliver trailer loads to the needy in various Christchurch communities for free
Malcolm Darroch Malcolm has been involved in the organising and execution of the “Westside Party in the Park” since 2000
Francine Barnes undertakes rostered duties as a Citizens Advice Bureau interviewer, providing advice and support to the community
Ke Gao works as a voluntary librarian in the library of Rewi Alley School
Steve White has run Zebedees Youth Venue for over ten years, voluntarily opening the venue every Friday and Saturday night
Jim and Carmel Power provide foot massage and other practical support for the six-weekly nail care clinic held at the Riccarton Baptist Church under the auspices of the Oak Development Trust (Riccarton)
Eric Lewis has been involved (and is still) with Hornby Rugby League Club for nearly 50 years as coach, supporter, statistician, committee member, parent, and player
