JCI is an international Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) with active participation in the United Nations (UN) system. In this context, JCI has relations with the Office of the UN Secretary General (Secretariat) and a Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)Junior Chamber International (JCI) has partnered with the UN Global Compact since 2008 to educate small- and medium-sized enterprises about the benefits of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in a competitive global market. • 2013 APYACF: Social ResponsibilityIndividual Social Responsibility (ISR)The 2013 JCI Plan of Action includes this concept of using personal development to create positive change by having a sense of individual social responsibility. The spirit of OMOIYARI inspired this concept of ISR, meaning every JCI member is responsible for his or her family, friends, JCI organization, business, community, environment and future. It is very important to pay attention to your surroundings. We create better active citizens to create better societies.Just as businesses have focused on Corporate Social Responsibility to contribute to economic prosperity within the community, JCI members should focus on ISR to highlight the individual duties that contribute to development within the community. ISR could be a bridge between Eastern and Western cultures to create one global team.Preface (continue)2013 Asia-Pacific Young Active Citizen Forum

The Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy or simply known as SCORE, is one of the five regional development corridors being developed throughout the country. The core of the corridor is the energy resources, particularly hydropower (28,000 MW), coal (1.46 billion tonnes), and natural gas (40.9 trillion square cubic feet) found abundantly within the Central Region. This will allow Sarawak to price its energy competitively and encourage investments in power generation and energy-intensive industries that will act as triggers for the development of a vibrant industrial development in the corridor.2013 Asia-Pacific Young Active Citizen Forum
