ELLP students showed significant improvement in their English language proficiency.

Students who tested into the ELLP program at the beginner level (Level 1 of 4) and progressed to complete the

advanced level (Level 4 of 4) in four semesters and took the ESL exit test were found to have improved their

listening scores by 43%, their reading scores 67%, and their writing scores by 68%.

Students who studied one semester in the ELLP program, testing into high-intermediate/advanced levels (Level

3 and 4 of our 4 level program), and then took our ESL exit test were found to have improved their listening

scores by 10%, their reading scores by 7%, and their writing scores by 6% on average.

Lastly, the ELLP hosted a cohort of 30 Brazilian English high school teachers in the winter 2014 term. These participants

attended ESL classes and TESOL workshops, as well as visited schools and other sites in the Chicagoland area.
