2012 Yaris LE 5-doorTop Yaris LE 5-door Advantages Over Accent GS 5-door
AUDIO AND TELEMATICS ADVANTAGES The Accent GS audio system seems good until you look closely—and then Yaris LE wins.
Sophisticated features HD radio, auto sound leveling and MP3 enhancement are a few of the features Accent GS lacks.
Standard telematics Hands-free phone and phone- book access via Bluetooth® technology.
Standard music streaming Wireless access to iPods® 2 and compatible smart phones expands your music choices.
VALUE AND PERFORMANCE Value means different things to different people, so Toyota covers a range of customer needs and desires with Yaris.
Low starting price Not only is Yaris LE competitively priced, but the 3-door and 5-door L models are even more affordable.
Toyota Care®3 One way to help stay in budget is to have two years or 25,000 miles (whichever comes first) of worry-free maintenance—a standard Yaris feature the Accent doesn’t have.
Standard spare tire Hyundai cut cost in some unusual ways, such as eliminating the spare tire. Yaris has one. Accent doesn’t.
New SE model More than just an appearance package, Yaris SE has real performance-enhancing features. Accent doesn’t have a comparable performance upgrade.
OUTSTANDING MANEUVERABILITY One of the best features of a subcompact is maneuverability, and Yaris wins this category hands down.
Shorter overall length Parallel parking will be notably easier in the Yaris because it’s more than eight inches shorter bumper to bumper.
Much tighter turning circle Wiggling in and out of tight spaces will be simple in the Yaris because its turning circle is more than three feet smaller.
Lower curb weight Yaris weighs as much as 339 pounds less than Accent, and that means it may feel more nimble and lively.
Bigger standard tires Because Yaris comes with larger tires, it has a confidence-inspiring “footprint” on the road.
OUTSTANDING SAFETY FEATURES Subcompact buyers are becoming more discerning, and Yaris steps up with a full list of safety features—and some surprising advantages.
Driver’s knee airbag1 This is a reassuring supplemental safety feature you won’t find on the Hyundai Accent.
Driver and front-passenger seat-cushion airbags1 A unique new addition that is designed to help keep the driver and front passenger safe in their seats. These airbags aren’t offered on Accent.
Full suite of traction aids With its Star Safety System™, Yaris is fully competitive with any vehicle in the class.
The all-new Accent follows in the footsteps of Hyundai’s compact Elantra and midsize Sonata. Although Accent is an entry subcompact, it carries some of the swoopy styling of its larger siblings. And like all Hyundais, the new Accent will be sold on its high level of features and low starting price. Expect cross shoppers to know about Hyundai’s 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, 5-year/60,000-bumper-to-bumper warranty, and roadside assistance program. These are all selling points you can expect Hyundai to promote.
Yet the new Yaris has a long list of selling points too, and customers who like the Accent’s standard features will really like the Toyota, because the LE model highlighted in this Edge comes with features even the “high value” Hyundai GS can’t match —and then some.
So there is plenty to talk about with the 2012 Yaris, and when you look at the design, features and safety engineering, you’ll realize Toyota beats Hyundai at its own game.

Accent is offered in two body styles and three trim levels. The GLS sedan is the price leader, but it doesn’t come with standard air conditioning or an audio system—so the low starting price can be misleading. The GS and SE 5-door may be more popular because they have the features customers want. The GS and SE are separated by the upscale interior and exterior features on the SE. All three models share the same engine and two transmission choices.

Shorter overall length
City streets, tight garages and the coveted parallel parking space—in any urban environment, a car with compact dimensions is a real luxury. And when it comes to the key measure of bumper-to-bumper length, Yaris is more than eight inches shorter—a handy difference.

Sophisticated features
Accent has a good audio system, but it still can’t beat some of the features on the Yaris LE.
 AUDIO & TELEMATICS ADVANTAGES
Standard telematics
Yaris LE doesn’t just have a well-equipped audio system, it also offers comprehensive factory-installed telematics —and again, they are standard. Accent would have to add an accessory system.

 VALUE & PERFORMANCE
Standard spare tire
Yaris and Accent both have roadside assistance. Hyundai expects roadside assistance to tow the vehicle to a dealer if the Accent has a flat tire that can’t be fixed with a can of sealant. Toyota customers won’t have to deal with this inconvenience, because Yaris has a spare.

Low starting price
With Yaris, a low starting price doesn’t mean a bait-and-switch. Even the entry-level Yaris L comes with air conditioning and an audio system. The entry-level Accent GLS requires an expensive package for AC and audio.

Toyota Care®3
Lower cost of ownership is one of the benefits of an entry subcompact, and Toyota makes a good financial argument by including complimentary factory-scheduled maintenance for two years or 25,000 miles, which ever comes first.

1. All the airbag (AB) systems are Supplemental Restraint Systems. All ABs (if installed) are designed to inflate only under certain conditions and in certain types of severe collisions: frontal and knee ABs typically inflate in frontal collisions; side and side curtain ABs in side collisions; Roll-Sensing Curtain ABs at a severe tilt degree, roll or lateral G-force. In all other accidents, the ABs will not inflate. To decrease the risk of injury from an inflating AB, always wear seatbelts, sit upright in the middle of the seat as far back as possible and do not lean against the door. Do not put objects in front of an AB or around the seatback. Do not use a rearward-facing child seat in any front passenger seat. The force of an inflating AB may cause serious injury or death. See your Owner’s Manual for further information/warnings. 2. iPod® is a registered trademark of Apple, Inc. All rights reserved. 3. Covers normal factory scheduled service. Plan is 2 years or 25K miles, whichever comes first. The new Toyota vehicle cannot be part of a rental or commercial fleet, or a livery or taxi vehicle. See plan for complete coverage details. See participating Toyota dealer for details. Roadside assistance is for 2 years unlimited mileage and does not include parts and fluids. 4. MSRP includes delivery, processing and handling fee. Excludes taxes, license, title and available or regionally required equipment. Actual dealer price may vary. 5. Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) is an electronic system designed to help the driver maintain vehicle control under adverse conditions. It is not a substitute for safe driving practices. Factors including speed, road conditions and driver steering input can all affect whether VSC will be effective in preventing a loss of control. Please see your Owner’s Manual for further details. 6. Brake Assist is designed to help the driver take full advantage of the benefits of ABS. It is not a substitute for safe driving practices. Braking effectiveness also depends on proper brake-system maintenance and tire and road conditions. 7. Smart Stop Technology operates only in the event of certain simultaneous brake and gas pedal applications. When engaged, the system will reduce engine power to help the brakes bring the vehicle to a stop. Factors including speed, road conditions and driver input can all impact stopping distance. Smart Stop Technology is not a substitute for safe and attentive driving and does not guarantee instant stopping. Please see your Owner’s Manual for further details.
