Produce grown and harvested at the Urban Farm located at 12th and Brandywine streets in Wilmington is sold at a weekly seasonal market onsite. In 2012, produce was also sold at the Food Bank of Delaware’s Farmers Market at the Catholic Charities Thrift Store. The effort brings healthy, locally grown food to neighborhoods that most need it: the nearest grocery store for families in these neighborhoods is often more than two miles away. In 2013, the Urban Farm plans to expand the growing season into colder months by using low tunnel season-extenders.
