2012
It has been my continued pleasure to serve as the principal at Sun Valley High School for the past two years. I am very excited to see the progress we have made as a school this past year. We have so much to build upon for the 2012-13 school year. The teachers and administrative team have dedicated themselves to improving all activities offered to our students, and to providing the support necessary for them to be successful. We have addressed the culture and climate for student life during the school day. Dress code, behavior, and safety are a top priority, and go hand-in-hand with academic achievement. The administration has worked with a faculty and student committee to implement a Positive Behavior Support (PBS) program at Sun Valley. Because of this increased safety and climate awareness, we have generated a sense of school community. By promoting spirit and safety, we have seen an increase in academic success through the implementation of new programs.
Our College Preparatory Math (CPM) has helped to improve our MAP scores. We adopted a school wide program for Literacy, developed by the University of Pennsylvania (PLN). We have begun the task of increasing our AP and SAT scores through improved instructional practices. Our scores have increased in the past school year in these areas. We know how important it is to educate the whole child. The Valley has improved the promotion of athletics and extracurricular activities. We have tightened the eligibility process, to ensure they mirrored those established programs. This annual report will highlight the many achievements we have made as a school community. We are proud of our students at Sun Valley and of their accomplishments. We look forward to continued growth in all areas in order to achieve our goal of being the best! Have A Great School Year!
