General InformationCOURSE HIGHLIGHTSThe course will focus on advancing nursing knowledge for optimal patient care. A combination of lectures and Q&A sessions will feature a variety of topics including individualized medicine, diabetes, over the counter medications and the effects of sleep deprivation on healthcare professionals. There will be breakout sessions focusing on stroke, congestive heart failure, multiple myeloma and graft vs. host disease.
COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVESUpon completion of this course, participants should be able to:• Discuss new ways to tailor medical
and nursing care to meet the needs of individual patients
• Describe the effects of sleep deprivation on work performance
• Review best practices for diabetes prevention and treatment
• Evaluate the use of over the counter drug therapies
BREAK OUT SESSION LEARNING OBJECTIVES • Discuss advances in stroke detection
and secondary prevention• Identify the classifications and treatment
of heart failure• Explain the distinguishing features
and treatment options of multiple myeloma
• Discuss the clinical signs and symptoms of graft versus host disease and identify appropriate nursing actions

No refund will be granted unless a written notice of cancellation is received. If registration must be canceled, tuition less a $75 administrative fee, will be refunded when notification is received on or before Sept. 21, 2012. No refunds will be made after this date.
Although it is not Mayo Clinic’s policy to limit the number of registrants for a course, conference room facilities may necessitate closure of enrollment. Early registration is strongly recommended. Walk-in registrations cannot be guaranteed.
