Why will your daughter have a wonderful summer experience at Amity Acres Day Camp and Sacajawea Day Camp? Our staff is energetic. Campers find life-long friends and gain self-confidence and life skills.

We offer activities kids enjoy all summer long – swimming, horseback riding, boating, archery and sports. But, those you want to hear from are our campers and their parents. Their enthusiasm is our greatest advertisement and the best recommendation you can receive.

Dear Camp Staff, I have to work in the summer and camp has proven to be an ideal activity which provides my granddaughter,

Shaneen, a safe, enjoyable and constructive place for her to spend the summer days. She truly waits all

year, not just for summer, but for summer weeks at Girl Scout camp. Her enthusiasm is wonderful and so

reassuring to me. I have seen tremendous growth and maturity come from Shaneen’s time spent at camp. She knows she is

expected to be responsible and to abide by the Girl Scout Law. She has learned responsibility, citizenship and

independence. She makes friends and has learned how to be a friend. Her self-confidence has developed so

much, she now handles challenges she encounters with a calmer, more assured sense of “can-do” spirit instead

of tears. Each summer’s lessons have carried over and strengthened her confidence in the subsequent school

year.

Shaneen’s only complaint about Girl Scout camp is that it ends too soon. She would prefer your camp to

school anytime. She is impressed by the positive role models she meets and wants very much to become a CPA

then counselor. She wants to be a role model too. It is a pleasure to have Shaneen come home so happy and listen to her share her adventures each day. She

happily shows the crafts and sings the songs and tells us about of her delightful day. Then she usually

collapses for a brief nap because she has been active and is worn out from a stimulating, physical and totally

enjoyable day.

Thank you for the program you provide and for the outstanding job you all do as role models.

With Sincerest Gratitude,Helen

Why Amity Acres or Sacajawea?

“My daughter Julia is having a blast at camp again this year - I wish I could join her all summer. I’m

jealous. She truly blossoms being outdoors all summer, it brings out a whole

different side to her.”

“As a household with two working parents, camp has provided a safe and entertaining summer for our girls. It is comforting to know that when we put them on the bus in the morning, they will have a day full of adventure, fun and friends. Both of our girls have benefitted from attending camp in ways I’m not sure we could properly express.”

“Bridget has grown from being a camper to a counselor and her happiest days are

when she is going to camp. Erin can’t wait to follow in her sister’s footsteps

as a counselor. She begins to talk about camp early in the spring,

and would love to spend every waking, breathing moment of

the summer on the camp’s grounds. As a result of camp,

both girls are independent, respectful and unafraid

to try new things.”
