Beginning Teachers must be rated at least “Proficient” on all five NC Professional Teaching Standards on the most recent Teacher Sum-mary Rating Form in order to be eligible for the SP II license. Only Principals may complete the summary on Beginning Teachers.
A Principal must rate a Probationary Teacher or a Career 1 of 1 / 4 of 4 teacher at least “Proficient” on all five NC Profess ional Teaching Standards on the most recent Teacher Summary Rating Form before recommending the teacher for career status

Career Teachers - License Renewal Year
CAREER (TENURED) TEACHERS - LICENSE RENEWAL YEAR
Career (Tenured) teachers will have intensive observations and their summary during their RENEWAL year only. However, if problems arise before their fifth year, the full intensive model shall be implemented. Observations/Summaries may be com-pleted by Principals and/or Assistant Principals.
