The Big Read Summer Reading is under way at Harrison Regional Library! Participants will be

keeping a log of what they read from June 1 until the end of August.

Our 2012 spotlight book is Harper Lee’s “To Kill a Mockingbird”.

We will have “To Kill a Mockingbird” speakers and tie-in activities on our regularly

scheduled visits to the senior centers all summer long. Reading logs will be turned in

September 4th

.

The top five readers will win a daytrip to Monroeville, AL, the setting of our spotlight book “To Kill a

Mockingbird”. You must have read “To Kill a Mockingbird” to be eligible for the trip.

The winners will be announced at our 2012 Block Party on September 6th!

Alabama National Cemetery

The Alabama National Cemetery was dedicated July 13, 2008. When it opened for burials on June 25, 2009, it

became the 129th national cemetery administered by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The cemetery is

situated on 479 acres of hills approximately three miles north of the center of historic Montevallo. The site is open for

visitation daily from sunrise to sunset. The office hours are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
