Beautiful Mind Sequel? Jason Padgett sees matheverywhere. Literally. When the 41 year old man from Tacoma Washington

looks around he immediately nds a mathematical formula for every

shape around him. And hes able to draw out a fractal of the formula by

hand. Im obsessed with numbers, geometry specically. I literally dream

about it. Theres not a moment that I cant see it, and it just doesnt turn

off. But it wasnt always like this for Padgett. One night in 2002 he was

leaving a karaoke club when he was attacked by a group of men who

wanted his leather jacket. They beat him, and hit his head repeatedly. All

I saw was a bright ash of light and the next thing I knew I was on mykeens on the ground and I thought, Im gonna get killed. But a few days

into his recovery he became obsessed with drawing intricate diagrams, not

knowing what they were. Scientists have been studying Padgetts brain,

trying to understand whats happened. Sometimes I would really like to

turn it off. But...I wouldnt give it up for anything.

Tabulous Dress Regan Kerr wore a special hand made dressto her prom in Aurora, Colorado this year. It was not your typical chiffon

or satin draped affair however. Kerrs dress was made entirely out of tabs

pulled from the tops of pop cans. It took her two years to put together the

5,114 pull tabs in the shape of a dress. Most of the work was done in the last

ve months, so it would be ready for the big night. The one of a kind piece

of clothing is pretty eye catching according to her sister Marlo. The way it

reects in the light, the way the colour stands out with the silver, its really

impressive. The aluminum tabs were heavier than she expected so she

had to add straps, or risk being exposed on her big night. There were a few

other problems which popped up, but the dress was ready in time.

Quitting Capitalism In 2001 Daniel Shellabarger left hisdrivers licence, passport and life savings of $30 in a phone booth near

the side of a road and walked into the Moab desert to start a new life.
