The program will start at 9 am. Wayne Alexander Band will entertain as well as others. Reservations must be made. The reservations will be called into Middle Alabama Area Agency on Aging (M4A). Do not call in reservations at this time. More details will follow in the April and May newsletters. Job Fair RSVP, the AWARE (Aging Workers Are Reliable Employees) Program and ESGR (Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve are sponsoring a job fair in conjunction with the Department of Defense for veterans and their families. The job fair will be held April 24 at the Birmingham Crossplex (old state fairgrounds) from 1 pm to 4 pm. Seniors also are invited to attend this event. Spring Picnic

Job Fair

New Forms

RSVP has developed a new enrollment form. These new forms will be mailed to you in the near future. When you receive these new forms we will ask you to discard the old forms.

South Shelby County Community Health FairSouth Shelby Chamber of Commerce, the Health and Wellness Ministry of Liberty Baptist Church, and Shelby Medical Center are sponsoring a community health fair on March 31. The event held at the Liberty Baptist Church in Chelsea from 9 am to 12 pm. There will be many vendors at the event.

Ms. Senior Shelby CountyEdwina Chappell, Ms. Senior Alabama 2008, has announced the Ms. Shelby County Pageant for April 21. Ladies over the age of 60 years are encouraged to enter. Categories judged include interview, philosophy, talent and evening gown. Please direct inquires to Edwina Chappell at 205-365-6080

Volunteer OpportunitiesKarl C. Harrison Museum of George Washington - Be a museum ambassador!  The Museum is looking for volunteers to be trained to conduct tours, participate in programs and work in the office.  This is a great opportunity for the right person. Off-site help is also needed for promotion of the museum and fund raising. The volunteer must be bondable.

South Shelby Chamber of Commerce – The Chamber is seeking volunteers to be involved by volunteering as a receptionist, serving at chamber functions, helping with mailings and publications, the golf tournament and other community events.

AWARE (Aging Workers Are Reliable Employees) – AWARE is a jobs program assisting those who are 50+ with employment. AWARE is seeking assistance in the Columbiana office with client follow-up.

Yellow Dot Enrollment – seeking individuals who can help in the enrollment of Shelby County citizens in Yellow Dot program. We want to expand the program and increase the number of events.
