COMMODORES REPORT
Hi fellow members,
First of all there has been a change of AGM as the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting has been assigned as the Public holiday on Friday 28th October. So with this in mind as a long weekend we have changed the AGM to 29th October being a Saturday, the time of 3.30pm. Followed by the Wind up and presentations, I will keep the report short. So once again thanks to all who helped make this year a success.
Also to the sponsors who make a job so much easier. Please keep the membership coming in and if you can sponsor please let the committee know.

Rear Commodore Report
Well, as we are working on last seasons results in time for trophy night, we are also working on our next fishing calendar.
As you will be aware there is again a closed period so we will again start the season early and the first and second comp will be on Saturday 10th and Saturday 24th September. Both these comps will follow the usual format with bay and deep sea components.
We will also try something different this year as the Ledge to Wedge Comp last year was not popular so we will dump it and try a bream comp at Moore River on one comp day. We will also run a couple of comps which will probably mean bay comps during the closed period. All points will count towards end of year trophies.
I hope that the weather is kinder to us this year as last season, even though it was a long hot summer we had more cancelled comps than ever before.
We look forward to seeing you all at the club and at future comp days.
Tight lines and catch you soon.

Australian Anglers Association Report

My last report before the AAAWA and LAAC AGM.
Anyway!
Just to keep you up to date with what is happening
1. Recreational fishing rules for demersal (bottom‐dwelling) scalefish on the West Coast (Kalbarri to Augusta) will remain unchanged until the next catch survey is analysed in 2012. This includes the seasonal demersal fishing closure that runs from 15 October to 15 December, so make sure you are all aware of this and let your mates know, who don’t keep up on the latest Goss, hate to see anyone get a fine!
2. The fishing rules for the West Coast remain unchanged, as of last December however always check on the latest on the fisheries website www.fish.wa.gov.au or at the LAAC club, who will keep you informed if there are any changes.
3. The AGM is coming up for Recfishwest and will be held at the Fremantle Sailing Club in October, so if you are a member I suggest you go and have your vote and say, a lot of good information comes from these meetings and there are a lot of good like minded people who attend, to make a difference.
4. Guys I had not been fishing since Easter, so I went out on Sunday the 7th August, with a couple of mates (Yes Don and Tricky Trev, I do have a couple), and let me tell you, regardless what the “experts” tell you, there is a lot of fish around, everywhere I went we caught Dhufish, Snapper and a great variety, of other species, all went back bar a couple, and all were very healthy, nothing wrong with our system, nature takes care of that, in the weather, not letting us get out, and that dirty word, WORK!
Hope I have provided enough info for you all, over the time I have done the reports, if there is anything you need or need any tips just give myself or your hard working committee members a call. Cheers Good Fishing to all

Lancelin Sea Rescue Safety Officers Report 01-08-11
Thank you all for your support, over the last 12 months.
Most understand that the Sea Rescue would not survive if it was not for the few band of dedicated volunteers who are always there, I feel as though we cannot thank you enough, but please be assured that you are all invaluable to the community at large. I truly also thank all those past and present, on the committee that certainly made my roles easier, your support was unrelentless, thank you.
As some of you would know, we had been working hard trying to get some assistance from the shire, for the refurbishment of the shed to house our NAIAD, but we fully understand that the shire has some financial issues, and had to rescind some money that was allocated to LSSR, it was a little disappointing that the media, and a local FESA person from Gingin, indicated that the money should come out of the purse, from LSSR via FESA, using similarities between Two Rocks, and Lancelin, it appears as though they were not aware, how we eventually got the NAIAD, in indicating to FESA that if we got a dedicated rescue craft that the shire CEO of the time indicated that the shire would help with trying to get funding for our new building to house the boat, from groups like FESA, Royalties for Regions etc, hopefully the door has not fully closed.
Still we need to move forward, and try another tack, I know as far as assistance goes, the shire does try to do all it can for the volunteers, in the community, has a lot of groups that are on their heels, and I know that people like our representatives on the shire in Ashley and Val, get a bit of flack, (First time I think I actually had a bit of a whinge at Ashley, sorry mate, but I felt that we did not matter anymore).
We have some training courses being prepared for the October to December period.
Reason that period is picked, is that there is a total Demersal Scalefish Fishing ban from 15th October to the 15 December, so hopefully I can use those fidgeting fingers and put them to good use, by having you all help us get the NAIAD training, PLAKA training, Search and Rescue Training (SAR) and some other courses like the obligatory Marine Radio operators courses, that have to be done for the use of the VHF radios on the boats, seeing as they are phasing out the older 27Mhz marine radios (I truly believe that will be a while off though).
Will also do a few courses on maintenance of boats and trailers.
Give us some feedback guys on what you would like us to do?
Now to the AGM for Sea Rescue, maybe put your name forward to help? hope you can make it, to give us some feedback and support, on the 29th of October 2011, we will have it approx 1.5hrs before the LAAC AGM so we can clean our one up, then head across to the LAAC meeting, please as a reminder we need a few to come to make up the Quorum.Cheers
Please if you are able to support us in any way, contact us on 08 9655 1289, the phone does divert to the Radio person on the day, who will be able to point you in the right direction, if you can assist with anything it would be appreciative.
