In December of 2010, Operation New Birmingham distrib-uted paper and pencil surveys to several multi -tenantbuildings in the Birmingham Loft District and also postedthe survey on the web.

The Loft District is generally described as the area from1st Avenue North to 8th Avenue North from 22nd to 25thStreets. The estimated residential population in this areais about 2,000. The total residential population of the Bir-mingham City Center is about 4,000.

ONB received over 200 responses, representing the resi-dents of at least 25 multi-tenant buildings (see map onpage 4). The vast majority of respondents completed theweb based version.

While these results are not scientific, they are helpful inunderstanding trends and demographics in the study area.ONB provides this data to developers, business ownersand others who may find it useful.

Operation New Birmingham is a non-profit, public privatepartnership between the City of Birmingham and the pri-vate business community. Since 1957, ONB has pursuedits primary mission of economic development in the Bir-mingham City Center. It also works to promote racial har-mony throughout the entire community. For more informa-
