greg KAMANSKYHead Coach | 12th Season

Greg Kamansky, who begins his 12th year as the Broncos head coach in 2011-12, has led CPP to winning records in 10 seasons and a record six trips to the NCAA Division II postseason. It’s worth noting that prior to Kamansky’s appoint-ment, the Broncos experienced postseason play in just three seasons in the first 52 years of CPP basketball.

During the 2010-11 campaign, the Broncos post-ed an overall record of 17-11 and a conference mark of 13-9. CPP finished with the third-best de-fense at the Division II level, holding opponents to just 58.9 points per game.

He has guided the Broncos into the NCAA Divi-sion II Elite Eight four times and three times has won the California Collegiate Athletic Associa-tion title. Cal Poly Pomona reached the playoffs in three straight seasons for the first time ever from 2003-05 while also recording three straight 20-win seasons for the first time in the program’s history.

Simply said, the Broncos have experienced more success under Kamansky than at any other time in the history of the program.

Kamansky owns a 223-99 record – a winning per-centage of .693. His winning percentage is even better against California Collegiate Athletic Asso-ciation competition (163-71 -- .697).

The Broncos’ success is due to the fact that Ka-mansky’s teams buy-in to the team concept. They defend and rebound; characteristics of well-disci-plined teams.

In 2009-10, Cal Poly Pomona established 20 school records that included: most wins (28), best overall record (28-6), winning streak (15), con-secutive road victories (10) and FG percentage (50.4). The Broncos finished the season as the top defensive scoring unit in the country, allowing 56.2 points a game.

CPP played at its best during the NCAA run. It shot more than 50 percent from the field in each of its six NCAA games and capped that run with a 65-53 victory over No. 2 Indiana, Pa. in the title game played in Springfield, Mass. -- the birthplace of the game. CPP became the first unranked team in 31 years to win the title crown and only the seventh program in history to win a national title the year after finishing second.

danelle BISHOPHead Coach | 2nd Season

After guiding the Cal Poly Pomona women’s bas-ketball team to its first appearance in the Elite Eight since 2002 during the 2010-11 campaign, Danelle Bishop enters her second season with the Broncos during the 2011-12 school year.

As the fifth coach in program history for women’s basketball, Bishop served as interim head coach during the 2010-11 season and led the Broncos to a 28-5 overall record en route to California Col-legiate Athletic Association (CCAA) and West Re-gion titles. CPP finished with the lowest turnover rate in the nation at the Division II level, commit-ting just 12.4 per game.

Following a close loss to Division I Nevada in the squad’s season opener on Nov. 12, 82-71, the Broncos went 20-1 over their next 21 contests, including a 14-game winning streak in the heart of the CCAA schedule.

Prior to joining the CPP program, Bishop had two head coaching stints. In her eight seasons as a head coach, four at Azusa Pacific (2003-07), three at Cal Baptist (2007-10) and now the cur-rent one with the Broncos, the Manteca, Calif., native owns an overall record of 166-89. In 2007, she took over a CBU program that that had five

head coaches in a 10-year period and immediate-ly produced. Bishop became the first CBU coach to post consecutive winning seasons in 17 years and she also earned the most wins in a two-year period in that span. In her first season (2007-08), the Lancers were just one win away from mak-ing their first trip to the national tournament since 1982.

Under Bishop’s direction, CBU earned its first women’s basketball All-American first-team se-lection (Nicole Davis) in 2008 and Davis was again honored first-team in 2009.

At the age of 26, Bishop was granted her first head coaching position and that decision paid off handsomely for APU. She led the Cougars to unprecedented heights with four straight 20-win seasons and four consecutive NAIA National Tournament berths. APU went 92-41 (a .692 win-ning percentage) during Bishop’s run and finished with two “Sweet Sixteen’’ finishes at the national tourney – a first for APU.

In her initial season, Bishop inherited a team that went 11-21 and led virtually that same team to a 20-12 finish, a final NAIA ranking of No. 24 and an NAIA Tourney berth.

Ciara Carl enters her second season at Cal Poly Pomona. Carl, along with head coach Danelle Bishop and fellow assistant coach Kevin Adams, helped the Broncos to a 28-5 overall record this sea-son en route to CCAA and West Region titles.

Carl also has a background in strength and conditioning, which stems from her education experience. She graduated from Point Loma Nazarene in 2005 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Exercise Science. While pursuing her degree at PLNU, Carl put together a prolific college career on the basketball court. Kevin Adams begins his second season at Cal Poly Pomona. Ad-ams played an immense role in CPP’s magical 2010-11 season, helping the Broncos put together a 28-5 overall record while cap-turing California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) and West Region titles along the way.

Adams spent the 2009-10 campaign as an assistant coach at Cal Baptist, under the direction of head coach Danelle Bishop. He spent a total of four seasons assisting within the Lancers’ program and earned a full-time position in Fall 2009. A Yucaipa native, Ad-ams graduated from CBU in 2008 with a bachelor’s degree in Ki-nesiology.
