Green plant use sunlight as an energy source , carbon dioxide and water as raw materials for photosynthesis.
The light energy trapped by green plant is converted into chemical energy and stored in the bond of organic molecules such as carbohydrates.

The primary function of leaf is photosynthesis. It adapted to receive energy from the sun, to allow the diffusion of gases and water vapors and to remove the product of photosynthesis.

SOURCES OF PHOTOSYNTHESIS
Carbon dioxide enters the leaves through the stomata (tiny holes) in the leaves.
The mesophyll cells have chloroplasts specifically using chlorophyll, the green pigment involved in photosynthesis.
The parts of a chloroplast include the outer and inner membranes, intermembrane space, stroma and thylakoids stacked in grana.

The chlorophyll is built into the membranes of the thylakoids.
Function of Chlorophyll- grab the sunlight and start the whole process of photosynthesis.
Water are absorbed from the root.

The carbohydrates formed are consumed by animals, digested, absorbed and used in respiration. The carbohydrate is oxidised to carbon dioxide, which is released into the air.
In cellular respiration, glucose is broken down to yield carbon dioxide and water, and the energy from this process is stored as ATP molecules.
