Redeemed: A Study of David”

portions of the “Deeper Still”

conference featuring Beth Moore,

Priscilla Shirer, and Kay Arthur. You’ll

laugh with them, cry with them,

and learn to love God with them.

These authors' messages are

lessons each. Each segment

focuses on the life of David at a

different stage of his life: as a

young man (by Priscilla Shirer), as a

middle-aged man (by Beth

Do you want to know God and really

believe Him? Do you want to find

satisfaction in God, experience His

peace, and enjoy His presence? Do

you want to make the freedom Christ

promised a reality in your daily life? In

Breaking Free, Beth Moore embarks on

a study of selected passages from the

Book of Isaiah, drawing several parallels

between the captive Israelites and

today's Christians, in order to show

how to make freedom in Christ a daily

reality. Moore teaches readers to

remove obstacles that hinder freedom

by identifying spiritual strongholds in

their lives and overcoming them

through the truth of God's Word-truth

Purpose Driven Life

Target Group: Co-Ed

Dates: Jan. 13 - May 19

Leader: Todd Hill

Contact #: 332-1652

E-Mail: [email protected]

Format: Discussion

Cost: $15

When: Wed. at 6:15 pm - 7:30 pm

Room: 217

The spiritual premise in The Purpose-

Driven Life is that there are no

accidents---God planned everything

and everyone. Therefore, every human

has a divine purpose, according to

God's master plan. Like a twist on John F.

Kennedy's famous inaugural address, this

book could be summed up like this: "So

my fellow Christians, ask not what God

can do for your life plan, ask what your

life can do for God's plan." Join Todd as

you take 40 days to explore Purpose

Driven Living.

The Reason for God (Tim Keller)

Target Group: Co-Ed

Dates: Jan. 13 - March 10

Leader: Scott Weeks

E-Mail: [email protected]

Format: Discussion

Cost: $15

When: Wed. at 6:15 pm - 7:30 pm

Room: A-172 (Annex I)

Keller mines material from literary

classics, philosophy, anthropology and

a multitude of other disciplines to make

an intellectually compelling case for

God. Written for skeptics and the

believers who love them, the book

draws on the author's encounters as

founding pastor of New York's booming

Redeemer Presbyterian Church. One of

Keller's most provocative arguments is

that all doubts are really a set of

alternate beliefs. The first, shorter part of

the book looks at popular arguments

against God's existence, while the

second builds on general arguments for

God to culminate in a sharp focus on

the redemptive work of God in Christ.

Keller's condensed summaries of

arguments for and against theism make

the scope of the book overwhelming at

times. Nonetheless, it should serve both

as testimony to the author's

encyclopedic learning and as a

compelling overview of the current

debate on faith for those who doubt

and for those who want to re-evaluate

what they believe, and why.

We are a rag-tag bunch of runner/

None of us are elite finishers, but all of us

at a scheduled event or on a fun run at

home.

We train alone and together, and keep

in touch by email. We plan 'long runs'

on the weekends together, when time

allows. We encourage walkers as well

as runners to join.

We register for an average of one race

per month, throughout the year. We

aim to find races with "causes" we can

stand behind.

I plan to begin weekly Saturday Morning

2010 GBC Prayer Ministry Team

Would you like to be a part of the GBC Prayer Ministry?

The Prayer Ministry Team exists to encourage individual and corporate prayer.

The Prayer Ministry Team will begin serving in 2010 in the following ways:

1. Sunday morning prayer teams

Prayer Ministry Teams will be on campus on Sundays from

8:30 am to 12:30 pm in the prayer room, worship center,

and other areas of the church campus. Team members will be

identified with Prayer Ministry Team name badges.

Prayer Ministry Team members will also gather during the

week to pray in the worship center for the worship services,

connect groups, pastors, members, and guests.

2. Prayer mail

Prayer Ministry Teams will meet on the church campus weekly

to write and send an “I have prayed for you” note to persons on

the prayer list or others who need prayer and encouragement.

3. Weekly prayer room ministry

Prayer Ministry Teams will staff the prayer room one evening

and one morning each week.

Anyone needing prayer or encouragement may drop by.

Contact Angie Bradley at 444-2612 (home) 973-7526 (cell), or

Our Mission:

In the Bible, we are told to “train a child

in the way he should go, and when he

is old he will not turn from it.”

(Proverbs 22:6) We support and

encourage parents in nurturing and

instructing their children in the Lord.

Our purpose is to reach preschoolers

and their families for Jesus Christ,

building a caring relationship with them,

and provide them with a strong spiritual

foundation so they can grow into

mature followers of Christ.

Preschool Ministry

Child Safety & Security:

Security for your child is a top priority at

GBC. Children especially need to feel

secure and loved in their environment.

We have a security system in place

anytime pre-schoolers are

participating in church activities.

Parents are also welcome to check in

on their little ones at any time during a

session. Silent pagers are also

available upon request.

Our Mission:

Children are precious to us, as they are

to Christ. As ministers of Christ’s love, our

prayer is that we may serve you and

your family.

Our children’s ministry at GBC exists to

share Christ with the children of our

community, team them with other

Christians, advance them in their

spiritual maturity, help them to

recognize their spiritual gifts and to

surrender their lives to God.

Children’s Ministry

Child Safety & Security:

Security for your child is a top priority at

GBC. Children especially need to feel

secure and loved in their environment.

We have a security system in place

anytime children are participating in

church activities. Parents are also

welcome to check in on their children

at any time during a session (we ask

you do so discreetly, however, so as not

to disrupt), and to volunteer to be a

part of their children’s activities.

The success of our Preschool and Children’s

Ministries is directly connected to the volunteers

that help us week in and week out,

month after month.

We thank them all for the time and

effort they give to building God’s Kingdom

one child at a time.

If you would like to participate in these ministries

there are several ways in which to help.

Ways to help include:

-teaching or assisting a Sunday School class

-helping with camps

-helping with Summer Nights for Kids

-Wednesday Night classes

-assisting or teaching Kidstuf (Children’s Worship)

-assisting or teaching (Preschool Worship)

-childcare during worship services.

Ministries please contact the following

staff members and they will gladly get you

plugged in.

Our Mission:

Today’s culture is force feeding a

message that is being easily

digested by teenagers and

preteens: Truth is relative. Students

today are ill equipped to look at the

messages bombarding them from

the media through the lens of a

Christian worldview. The result?

A belief that conflicting ideas can

be equally true. As Christians, we

know that to be false.

The student ministry at Gladeville

Baptist Church works diligently

against the “Truth is relative”

mantra. Our programs are

designed to equip students to sift

through the changing messages

of today’s pop culture. We

believe firmly that Truth is not

relative and that investing in

students will inspire them to

influence positive change in their

culture rather than conforming to

it.

Sunday Morning Groups

9:15 am Bible Studies

Where: The Premier Room

We dig into God’s Word and apply it

directly to ever-changing teen culture.

Students and caring adults discuss

parent relationships, peer pressure,

friends,values, and boundaries all within

the context of God’s perfect plan for

their lives.

We begin in The Premier Room and

break out into smaller Bible Studies

based on grade and gender.

Life Groups

These are small that groups are gender

specific and meet in 6-8 week intervals

4-6 times a year, typically on Sunday

nights. We find that the absence of the

opposite sex alleviates pressure and

discussion barriers for guys and girls

alike. We help them develop a deeper

relationship with Christ and each other.

Middle School Ministry

Wednesday Nights

6:15 pm - 7:15 pm Worship

Where: The Premier

This is a worship opportunity for

students, and usually where they walk

through our door for the first time. We

have a place for students to hang out

with their friends over a coke or coffee,

and there’s no pressure for them to do

anything when they walk through the

door. We play games, worship through

music and other arts, and students

hear a relevant message of Truth. The

bounce-off-the-wall outgoing, the shy,

quiet, and the more reserved teen, will

all find a comfortable fit at either of

these services.

7:15 pm - 7:45 pm Small Groups

Where: The Premier Room

These groups are gender & age

specific and meet weekly. The topics

will be based on the Worship service

and help them develop a deeper

relationship with Christ.

Missions

Middle School students are

encouraged to serve by participating

in local missions and mission trips.

Students who volunteer locally usually

perform some type of service for the

community or an individual. At least

two are planned each year.
