Annual ConferenceAnnual ConferenceRule Sets

• ANY– Multiple rules that have something in common; such as:

• Each rule in the set applies to same client or timekeeper; or• Each rule in the set enforces a specific firm policy and applies to all time entries

– Each rule is independent of the other rules in the set– Typically used for organizational purposes and/or scope enforcement

• ALL– Multiple rules that depend on each other– Each rule condition in the set must occur on the entry to cause a (failure) task– Typically used for creation of complex error criteria

Annual ConferenceAnnual ConferenceExamples: Rule Set/ANY

• Set of rules that prevent any timekeeper from recording an entry under another user’s timekeeper I.D

• One rule for each timekeeper will be needed• Use of Rule Set keeps these rules together (organizational purposes)

• A specific client has the following general firm policy items• Several rules will be needed for this client:

• Time entry narrative cannot be blank• Time entry narratives should be less than 255 characters in length• Block billing is not permitted• All time must be entered in 6 minute increments (.1, .2, .3, etc.)• Only approved timekeepers may bill time

• Use of Rule Set keeps these rules together (for scope management)

• Task Code = B100; B200; C100; L100; L200; L400• Personnel Type = Partner or Associate• Text Rule: Narrative must include “Approved by:”

• All 3 of the above conditions must be met for the entry to be in violation.
