Mike,Often don't have map with me whenentering.. is a real pain to go by "areaon map" -suggestions???Was at border of green markers andchat area to see if I could determinean "area of influence of triclopyr" --notviewable. That is, as I swam an areaabout 100 yards by 50 yards fromDudley Pt-midway to Rocky Pt.-almost to Eastern tip of Filurin Cove, Icould see no real "curled over leaftips". This is in opposition to what Isaw at Allison's outlet area where thetips really do seem to be curling over.

It appears unrealistic to try to keep a count of big vssmall. As I swim, especially when the bag is gettingbig and unruly as it is filled with plants, I pick what isin my way. I suppose a reasonable way to do thiswith surface support is to have the surface recorderget this verbage from a diver:"I have 205 mf in the bag, and about 70 percent (tothe nearest ten percent) are over 10 stems." I don'tthink keeping any other count is reasonable, especially as divers get tired and lose countconcentration, etc. Also, in this database, I would like to see alongsidethe "area picked" at least some way to add wordsthat describe more exactly where picking occurred, and perhaps even whether it was "completed" sothat a marker surface putter would be able to knowto pick up the markers and move them.

Swam from my shore southwest to~30 ft off 3 Priscilla Path dock pickeda plant then moved towards thecentral lily pads where I came acrossa pod of 1-3 plants and then swambefore hitting the next pod.

1-3 ft vis continues. MF (6 days post tryclopyr tx)appears a more dull green, w/ tops not as red....thebig ones I pulled had healthy strong stems as I hadto fight a few to come out.of the 23 plants, 10 were true buffaloes of >20stems and taller than 4 ft, starting to tilt the topsover w/ the flow of water as too taller than watercolumn.Yes, my snapper hung out near but not too near (atthe lily pads). She let me work.Slowly restarting diving as my back mends.

On the eastern edge of 3B. swamfrom 1E (Bayfield road side) on anorthwest path then turned northtowards Priscilla Path public access.Worked more the middle of the tworoads

90 and sunny. Warm calm water w/ pollen coatingthe top. Particulates, esp algae in the water columnreducing vis to ~3 ft. Swam through curly leafforests w/ their budding turions (pine-cone like seedpods). The MF are clumped in this area w/ openareas or just curly leaf forests separating theclumps, so a fair amt of swimming necessary to getto the MF plants.Attempting to pull 5 stems or greater but definitelytaking out less stemmed plants if they're in the way

Continue to work the eastern line of3B and now toward the middle of 3B.

90 degrees and sunny...hot.vis 3-4 ft w/ algae and white particles shimmering inthe water column. Yellow pollen coating the surface.Big plants, so filling up bags quicker than usual.slows the process when have to dump and comeback. the plants are continuing if not degradingmore as they break up easily. I'm seeing tall 3 and 4stemmers so am picking those. We said nothingless than 5 stems but the 3 and 4 stemmers have abigger root ball than you would expect.

Started on the northeastern side of3B (off 1st Maiden Lane house) andthen out into the middle of 3B (middletoward eastern line).

65 air degrees and partly sunny to sunny. Lightwind.Vis 3ft w/ green algae and white shimmeringparticles in the water column. Some curly leafstarting to let go and float on the surface, catchingon the buoys.Fragile plants but still standing tall. Finding clumpsof milfoil here and there. Tall plants whether onestem or 20 stemmed. Grown up to the surface orjust below. Have to dig past the 1+foot of najas toget to root balls. Everywhere I turn there's anotherclump. Foot long large mouth bass stayed w/ mepart of the day and then ran into a medium, darkgray cat fish.

Outlet, then swam to the north side ofthe middle lily pads and west towardsthe western line of 1E just off PriscillaPath public access, then swam southbefore turning east for 50m then backnorth to 9 Priscilla Path shore line.

vis 1-2ft (poor), windy and 74 air degrees. Smokyhazy air from Quebec fires...yes, the wind blowingin the smoke all the way from Canada.cont to find pods of 3-6 plants, tall, multistemmed, with the leaf whorls dropping, turning a lighter greenand the stems becoming fragile at the top of thestocks. The stems ~4" or more above the roots arestill strong for multistemmed plants but not for many1 stemmed near by. The plants break up very easilyand difficult to bag w/out great fragmentations. Ihave to go back around after to get all thefragments I can. The curly leaf is starting to let gobut that may be due to the temp of water, which iswarm. The najas is thick on the bottom and stillfinding algae blooms.

poor vis in the top ft of water column but clears tomod vis at the bottom.75 air temp, windy, cloudy, humid. Large clump of big plants (>10 stemmed) droopingonto the najas. center of 3B swimming south ~50mbefore turning east bound and thendue north towards the 3B/2F line. Then swam due west ~30m beforeturning south back to the boat.Finished by pulling the boat due east-northeast and pulling plants I swamto the Priscilla Path Public Access.

75 air temp, windy, partly cloudy and humid. Viswas poor the 1st foot down and then cleared to modvis.Very, very fragile plants at this point. Most lying onthe najas w/ maybe one stem up. About 20 plantswere still fully standing and very large, goodrootballs. The rest were rather droopy w/ easier toremove rootballs. I am finding around the dyingplants, floaties that look unhealthy but have healthylooking roots. I picked them up. Not sure if theywould die vs regenerate. Don't trust them so Ibagged them!

still don't have a map to referencewhen I put this in so I guessed the #Xlocation...I was in the Chat cove, between thetwo Northernmost circulators, almostexactly halfway between. We hadmisidentified some mf from thesurface about 60 feet off the Chatdock (which works well to get to theChat by boat by the way). We swamin Z pattern toward NW Circulator. Icame across a patch of about 20 ft by30 ft with only two mf in my bag. Then I picked 52 more in that patch.Shawn picked 45 more in that patch.

Mf is extemely fragile. ...even in Chat cove. Much ofthe mf is denuded of leaflets. Most often we find bigplants of greater than ten stems where most of thestems are bent over back toward the sediment, appearing underwater much like a large forsythiabush that is re-rooting itself at the tips of itsbranches. When there are leaflets still left on theplant, the stems themselves are very very fragile, even more fragile than the most fragmentable Ihave ever seen at the end of a summer. Do notmisinterpret that former sentence. When thefragments break off, they break off easily, sometimes at the slightest touch at the end of asummer. However, the stems themselves arerelatively intact even if they are fragile. In no case inmy memory banks have the stems themselves beenas fragile as I saw and felt today. Merely gentlypicking the plant to put it in the bag, without glovestoday, caused it to break apart at the middle of thestem.

Swam 2/3 of 2E starting from thesouthwest corner to the Johnson'sdock. Covered all of 2E in that area.Have covered the other 1/2 of 2E inprevious 3B diving.

Poor vis ~1ft w/ lots of particles in the water column.Air 67 degrees, windy (nw wind ~13mph w/ gusts toin the 20s), partly sunny.Very difficult to find any MF plants. Both MF andcurly leaf dying down so many stems on the bottombut difficult at times to figure out if MF or curly leaf. The 6 I pulled w/ quite large plants but most stemslying on the the bottom and only a few standing.Root balls were intact but not holding onto too tightto the bottom. Divers worked in Mansion Beacharea 1A and partiallly in 4A. Thendivers also picked a cluster in 1F.Divers finished the day in 4E workingtoward a meeting with 2B.

Divers found mostly dying plants that had stemsnear the root ball that appeared viable. Rootsseemed intact. The dying part of the plant consistedmostly of denuded stems that were laying down onthe bottom with a few stubs sticking up at or nearthe root ball. Also, Shawn found a cluster of 20 bright green fullyviable plants under the southeasternmost circulator. These appeared not to be affected by the herbicide. Tonight I, Ted, am bringing to the SWQC a 20something stemmed example freshly picked hoursago of denuded stems but apparently viable big rootball.
