The complex forging processfrom raw steel sheets to

the final product - the trulyelegant Torsion Damascus.

WORLD PREMIER AT BOKER: EXCLUSIVE KITCHEN KNIVESMADE OF HANDFORGED TORSION DAMASCUS.

We asked ourselves how the knife of all knives could bemade. Which materials and techniques could be used? Then we found the answer, and developed a world premier.

For the new Boker Damascus Superior we use, for the firsttime, a four strand Torsion Damascus with a separatelyforged Damascus cutting edge, which is done by GermanDamascus forger Andreas Henrichs with fascinatingprecision, exclusively for Boker. In an extremely elaborateprocess, single Damascus layers are forged by hand to amassive square Damascus bar. This square bar is twisted

15 times, which creates the unique pattern of TorsionDamascus. Four of those strands, and a fifth non-twistedDamascus strand are forge-welded into the final shape.

The result is a blade blank with extraordinary structure, unbelievable stability, and the basis for excellent cuttingability. In the Boker Manufactory in Solingen, the bladeblank will then be processed by hand in more than 150steps to the complete knife.

    HISTORIC ART OF DAMASCUS FORGING.

This method of forging Damascus was used in the Middle Ages to forge extremely high class sword blades for the

gentry. Swords made of Torsion Damascus were extremely

rare and sought after, so much so that the Vikings raidedparts of Europe to obtain such swords.

ELEGANT HANDLE WITH DAMASCUS DETAILS.For the handle, we use African Grenadill hardwood.Grenadill wood offers a beautiful grain, which is a perfectaddition to the intricate blade, and provides an excellentbalance to the knife. Due to its high content of oil, it ishighly moisture resistant.

The impressive wooden handle is framed by two Damascus

bolsters and a Damascus butt cap, both made of stainlesspowder metallurgical Damascus with 300 layers. Thehandle pieces are individually hand-fitted to each blade, providing balance and beauty.

Each of these works of art boasts an individual serialnumber, making it possible to track the entire productionprocess in the Boker Manufactory. The knife will bedelivered in an exclusive wooden presentation case andincludes a certificate of authenticity and owners manual

Experience a knife which, when forged in this exclusivemanner, is like no other.

BOKER GORM.Today, the ikings are still a synonym for extraordinaryabilities. Not only were they brave and courageousseamen and warriors, but also very competent forgers.Contrary to the Japanese tradition, the high endNorthern blades were not given from generation to

generation as a heritage, but were lost for posterity dueto their destination as burial objects in the sea - or fireburials when the owner passed away.

Designed by the renowned knifemaker Jesper oxnaesfrom Denmark, the homeland of the ikings, andhandmade in the Boker Manufactory in Solingen,Germany, the home of high quality blades, the Gorm(named after the first Danish king) combines agelessvirtues which make this knife series a real masterpieceof kitchen cutlery.

The choice of materials is as extraordinary as thedesign. Equipped with stainless 440C steel with itshigh edge retention and a Rockwell hardness of 58-59HRC, Gorm is by far superior to any ordinary kitchenknife blades, and is as tough as the ikings.

The characteristically shaped hole in the blade makesthe Gorm especially unique. But this is not only adesign feature, it also provides a functional benefit - itworks as a tactile response point, which providesexcellent control while you choke forward on the

handle like the professionals chefs do.

From an ergonomic standpoint, the Gorm sets a newstandard. The specially shaped handle is perfect forlong and extended work, with a comfortable grip.Furthermore, it is impossible to slide forward and hurt yourself on the cutting edge. The handle scales aremade of milled canvas Micarta with the typical linentexture, which is not only very robust, but also gives avery secure grip. The grip gets even better when theknife or hands are wet.

Every Gorm knife is an expression of the finest kitchenculture. For that, you get your personal Gorm knifedelivered in an attractive gift box, with an individual

BOKER CERAMIC.Modern technology for the kitchen - said effortlessly. And sometimes, it also feels effortless, like workingwith the Boker Ceramic knives.

The Boker Ceramic Series: ultra-sharp, corrosion-free

and dishwasher-safe knives made of ceramic - anextremely hard and durable material, comparableto a diamond. Blades made out of this ceramic are(and stay) super sharp for a very long time. This wasproven by a study of the "ersuchs-und PrfanstaltRemscheid" (see diagram). As shown here, ceramicblades stay sharp about ten times longer than normalsteel knives.

The handle is made of fiber reinforced syntheticmaterial and offers a very comfortable, secure grip

and ergonomic shape. Boker Ceramic knives are

very low maintenance, for they are 100% corrosionresistant and dishwasher-safe. Furthermore, they arelightweight, non-magnetic and chemically neutral, which makes them perfect for cutting delicate food.

We often are asked what happens if a Ceramic bladeis dropped on the floor. It does not shatter into manypieces like a porcelain cup.

BOKER STRAIGHT RAZORS.Demanding craftsmanship is one of our traditions in theBoker knife manufactory, where a maximum of dexterity isnecessary - like when shaving by hand. A perfect shaveneeds, before anything else, one thing - a perfect razor.

Since the beginnings of the Boker Manufactory in 1869, highquality straight razors were made in Solingen. Even in theseearly days, the focus was set on high end materials and perfecthandmade quality and craftsmanship. Soon this strategy gainedsuccess, and Boker straight razors became well known. After thesecond World War, the production of straight razors was endedinternationally, due to destruction of the plant by allied bombing.

Today, an original Boker catalog from 1906 is the oldest documentin the company's archives about the lineup of straight razors ofthat time. More than 100 years later, a new series of straightrazors is handmade in the Solingen Manufactory and revives theold tradition.

A quality check for every straight razor is the so called "thumbnail test." Only perfectly ground razor edges can be bent on

the back of your thumb nail and return to their normal shapeafterwards.

Start the day with a true masterpiece - a straight razor from Boker.

DAMASCUS BUFFALO HORN.Exclusive straight razor made of 300 layers of handforgedDamascus. The long tradition of high quality Boker Damascusknives continues with the release of the straight razors. At thesame time, a new technical standard is set. Normally, theproduction of Damascus razors stopped at 180 layers of steel. There were inherent dangers when using the normal forgingprocess, that the thin blade would reveal different layers ofsteel on the cutting edge, thus causing a "micro saw." Our

Damascus forger solved this problem and forges the blades forBoker Damascus razors out of more than 300 layers of highquality carbon steel (high edge retention, non-stainless). Thecenter layers of the blade get paralleled, thereby creating aneven, smooth edge for a perfect shave result. The blade, withits high hardness, is extremely sharp, without the danger ofchipping. The handle scales are made of hand picked blackbuffalo horn from France, and show a beautiful contrast to thehandforged blade with more than 300 layers of Damascus steel. The Boker Damascus razor is made by hand in 170 steps in theBoker Manfactory in Solingen, Germany. Delivered in a woodenpresentation case with a certificate of authenticity. Blade: 5/8".Item No. 140506DAM $1,299.00

STAINLESS OLIE.An elegant piece, with a stainless steel blade - practical andappealing. This handsome razor is perfect for the afficionado ofthe Mediterranean lifestyle. The grind ofthe mighty blade with Spanish round head is a real challenge forevery knifemaker.
