The last of. the three charges filedagainst George S. McComb, clerk of thejustices' court by the grand jury "onFebruary 14, 1910, in which he was

accused of absenting himself from his

office during business hours, was dis-missed yesterday by JudgeCa-banlss Inthe superior court on the request of

Assistant District Attorney Brennen,

who stated there was not sufficient evi-dence to sustain the accusation.X The Original , grand jury complaintcontained , two other charges, the firstalleging a," failure to turn in promptlyfines -collected and the second that his'private funds were intermingled withthose of the city and county, both ofwhich were dismissed on the demurrerof the defendant sustained by JudgeCabaniss on March 12 of this year.

When the charges were filed McCombclaimed that they were of politicalorigin, arising from the distribution ofpatronage connected with the offlce.
