Dear Members:

The 2011 holiday season brought more than 600 family and house guests to St. andrews Country Club each day as we celebrated Chanukah, Christmas and the new year together. Our children and grandchildren enjoyed all of the clinics and St. andrews Holiday Week activities – Kid’s Style. all appetites were satisfied after dining at the wide variety of buffet dinners, 13 in all!

The new year’s Eve Social was enjoyed by all members and guests who rang in the new year together while enjoying Las Vegas Gaming! My thanks to Craig Martin and his professional staff for once again making the holiday season at the Club something for all members, our families and guests to remember.

Over the past 60 days we have welcomed five new members and two new renters. The new strategic initiatives that have been established with your approval are proving successful in attracting a variety of families of all sizes to call St. andrews home. I encourage you to introduce yourself to the new members and renters and make them feel welcome, St. andrews Style.

as we enter 2012, I want to remind you to Save the Date for the annual Meet the Candidates for the Board of Governors Election on March 18 at 4:00PM in the St. andrews room and the annual Meeting on april 1 at 4:00PM in the St. andrews room.

Did You Know? Most grievances against Members, their families or guests involve the removal of Club property. The use of range balls for play and/or the removal of range balls from the driving range, complimentary food & beverages and towels are the most common items taken off premises. Other frequent types of grievances include improper conduct, using the golf course trails for exercise (such as jogging) and the destruction of Club property.

It is against Club Rules for any member to attempt to discipline any other member, any employee or any contractor of the Club. A grievance can be filed by any member or the professional staff by submitting a formal, written and signed complaint to the Grievance Committee. After review of a grievance, a member may receive immediate suspension up to one year, fines or any other remedy excluding expulsion as determined by the Board of Governors.

We hate to impose Grievances but they are necessary for the smooth and efficient operation of the Club.

You can read more about Grievances in the Bylaws, Article IX, Discipline.

Dear Members,

The New Year is upon us and we can truly say that 2011 finished

with a festive bang! The holiday season offered a whirlwind of

activity filled with a grand range of special events for all interests

and ages. In fact, we had more children and grandchildren

celebrating the holidays with us at the club than ever! We also had

a record turnout for golf, tennis, dining, spa and social activities,

with feedback being extremely positive for all.

The month of January continues to be an exciting month with lots

to offer. We are looking forward to the Morgan & Friends Fight Cancer Tournament and

appreciate her great contribution to our golf programs over the holidays with the

clinics. Be sure to see pages 7 and 10 for all of the golf events and programs

scheduled this month. Our tennis program is also in full swing and promises to be

another excellent year with participation continuing to grow. See page 11 for more

details.

Melissa Mattus has many great activities planned for this year, to include a dinner

show featuring Sarge on January 26th as well as three additional dinner shows in the

upcoming months. Back by popular demand, Ryan & the Rockers will be performing

smooth Rock n’ Roll favorites in the Gallery on January 13th, so be sure to mark your

calendar for great food and music. Turn to page 5 for a full plate of delicious theme

dinners and events in the Gallery and at Lakeside. The dining experience at

St. Andrews is absolutely top-notch, and your culinary staff has put together an

impressive menu of options for every taste.

Just around the corner is our President’s Day Street Fair & Carnival and this year will

be bigger than ever. Join us on Monday, February 20th for an afternoon filled with

games, rides and activities for all ages.

I wish all of you a happy and prosperous New Year, and look forward to a successful

2012 at the Club!

We have many things to look forward to with the New Year. We will soon be offering you a standard dessert menu that will offer you more options from our exceptionally talented Pastry Chef, Santiago Puga. This way we will be able to keep your favorites while piquing your interest with new decadent desserts. We will also be bringing Sake and Sushi on certain evenings to the Gallery Lounge just to add something exciting to an already great time during cocktail hour. Our beautiful St. Andrews Herb Garden will be the star of the show when we feature an Herb and Wine Dinner in the Gallery’s future. The new Spa menu is complete and will be rolling out in mid-January. The menu will have our NuYu Nutritionist’s input to make sure that your meals are not only delicious, but hearty and nutritious. In addition to the nutritious aspect of the spa, you may notice that lunch in the Gallery has some new tasty options. Chef Jose Garde Manger have once again brought another amazing feature to the Lunch Buffet by adding more grains and beans packed with the nutrients that will keep our membership healthy and energized.

I will be the first to say that I thoroughly welcome and appreciate any and all comments and feedback while making sure that you know that as your Director of Club Operations, I am here for you. All of these amazing

additions remind us that in this economy, it is increasingly important to always be constructively evolving to keep our club the “best of the best” and give you the St. Andrews Style that you deserve. It has been wonderful meeting and becoming acquainted with everyone as well as getting acclimated to this beautiful Club. My door is always open if you ever need me and I wish all of you an incredible year of health and happiness ahead.

I would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year and hope everyone

enjoyed the holidays here at St. Andrews. We are excited and look forward to 2012 in which we now are offering some amazing

wines on our “St. Andrews Gems” wine list. This list will offer many exclusive wines, such as Beringer Private Reserve, Caymus Special Selection, Nickel & Nickel, Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars, Jarvis Winery, just to name a few. Many of these wines received high ratings from the Wine Spectator and Robert Parker. These wines will only be marked up slightly over our cost, which will provide St. Andrews Members a great opportunity to enjoy these wines at an extreme value that you will not find at any other club or restaurant in the area. So on your next dining experience ask your server to see our “St. Andrews Gems” wine list and enjoy some of these great wines.

Cheers!

The first question concerning juniors: “What age should I start my Junior playing golf?”

The answer is when they can follow instructions. Safety in junior golf is a major concern, clubs and balls hurt, being able to follow directions is a must!

My junior needs clubs, “How do I get clubs that are right for them?”

Fitting a junior with clubs that are the correct length and weight is crucial to their success. Companies today make different sets based on a junior’s size, strength and gender. Here at St. andrews we have had great success with Callaway Jr. Clubs. They come with woods, hybrids, irons, putter and a bag.

What are the first steps in learning how to play?

The first steps in learning to play golf are the same for everyone. The initial goal is to develop sensitivity and awareness for the length and speed of a swing relative to the distance required to get to the target. Juniors should start a few inches from the cup, moving back in small increments that require an increasingly longer swing to strike the ball the proper distance.

Throughout this process, initial set-up routines are developed while learning a proper grip, posture, stance and aim. as a student becomes acquainted with the proper feel for rolling a ball, they become ready for the next phase, introducing a club with loft.

putting it all together!after learning the basic rudimentary parts of the swing, putting it all together into a full swing is next. The golf swing for a good player is a swing, not a contrived series of movements. It has a sequence of movement that is predicated on establishing certain muscles being in control from the start. This allows the swing to be instinctive rather than controlled with a lot of conscious thought!

Creating this sensitivity in a junior for a complete swing as soon as possible instills a confidence in a junior that this sport isn’t as tough as their parents seem to think it is!

What a great Couple of Holiday weeks to end the 2011 Golf season. Last month was filled with a lot of activities including Junior Golf Clinics, the Holiday Demo Day, and exciting adult and junior clinics with Morgan, proving to be one of the best Decembers ever here at the club.

We step into 2012 with a bang as the men begin their quest for the Prestigious Governor’s cup title on January 7 and 8. The 5th annual Morgan & Friends Fight Cancer Tournament is next up with the dinner and auction taking place on Sunday the 8th and golf and exhibition on Monday the 9th. This year proves to be another spectacular year as Morgan teams up with her LPGa friends and St. andrews members to fight breast cancer. Joining Morgan this year is Christie Kerr, Brittany Lincicome, Paula Creamer, and One Mystery Guest. In the events’ first four years the St. andrews membership has helped raise nearly 2 million dollars.

The Junior Golf Series begins on January 14 and will run on Saturdays from 2:30pm-3:30pm thru the month of april. Be sure to sign up your children and grandchildren for this fun and educational series.

The Men’s Member-Guest takes place on Friday, January 20. This is one of the clubs premier events and this year will be nothing short of spectacular.

The ladies of the St. andrews WGa close out the month with their Country Club Challenge versus Woodfield Country Club. The event will take place on Tuesday, January 24 and the final matches will be held on the 31. The St. andrews ladies are the defending 2010 champs and plan on holding on to the trophy for another season.

Please contact the Golf Shop or visit us on the golf website for more information or to sign-up for upcoming events.

The season is officially in full swing, with record attendance at our special events and tournaments, as well as our constantly growing Jr. Program and clinics. We are extremely pleased with the increased level of participation, enthusiasm and camaraderie amongst our members. Thanks to all of you for your awesome support. Many of you are improving your games with help via lessons and clinics and I commend each and every one of you on your commitment and desire to improve your game.

Our three ladies’ teams are performing well and enjoying the inter club competition. Our Ladies Division seven team has really taken off and we now have 22 members on board. Our three Men’s senior teams begin play in early January and are looking forward to another great season. Gordy Saul will once again captain two teams (our Grand Slam League team and our Division 4 Palm Beach County team). Joel Miller will take over the reigns from longtime captain Fred Greenberg to be our Division 7 Palm Beach County team captain. a big thanks to both for all their hard work and support!

Here are a few recent events to report on: The 11th annual SaCC / Broken Sound Challenge (held in early December) was a huge success. Fourteen teams competed from both clubs and each team won seven matches and 16 sets a piece. unfortunately, in the end Broken Sound won several more games than SaCC to

Court Action

claim the coveted cup. Hopefully next year we will get revenge! The Toys for Tots round robin was also a tremendous event with 28 players participating. On the Men’s side, Champion rick Ender sliced his way to victory over a vastly improving Finalist alan Halpert. The Women’s tournament was hard fought but newcomer Janyce Speier used her quick feet to run down countless balls and claim her first victory. Joan Hauser played extremely well and finished a close second. In the near future we are looking forward to three great events: The Men’s/Women’s Pro-am, The Ladies and Men’s Member-Guest Tournaments, and finally the Delray Beach Champions Tournament in late February. yours truly will be playing a match vs. Michael Chang (former world #2 and former French Open Champion). This match will take place on Monday evening, February 27 at 7pm. Hope to see you there and as always –

Most of us have experienced the joy of playing with a furry friend, but did you know that having a pet can also be good for your mental and physical health? Studies show that pets can protect us from depression, stress, and even heart disease. How? By helping us make healthy lifestyle changes to include providing companionship, helping us meet new people, and providing sensory stress relief (ie., petting a dog).

Studies show that going for a walk is great for your physical health, so let’s combine the two for a super fun morning by going on a Furry Friends Pet Walk! Our first walk in December was a little wet, but we still had a nice time. Join us at the 4-way stop for the next Furry Friends Pet Walk on Saturday, January 21st at 9am. you and your pet will be glad you did!

Our Toys for Tots Luncheon was a huge success thanks to

those who donated unwrapped toys for the Marine’s annual drive. A big Thank You to St. Andrews employee and proud Marine, Matteo Farazo, for his help with the collection and toy delivery.
