Thank you for taking the time to learn about James Cook University Motorsport (JCU

Motorsport)and

our

involvement

in

Formula

SAE

A

competition.

This

sponsorship

proposal

outlines thesponsorshippackagesavailable,aswellasthebenefitsthatyourorganisation

willreceive.Also included is informationabouttheJCUMotorsportandtheFormulaSAEA

JCU Motorsport was formed in late 2005 by mechanical engineering students with a

commoninterest

in

cars

and

motorsport.

Over

the

course

of

2006

the

team

progressed

and

expanded with the valuable help of fellow James Cook University students from the

electricalengineering,marketingandaccountingdisciplines.

Over the course of its existence, JCU Motorsport has had the benefit of having many

enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and talented students as members of the team.With each

year,moreandmoregroundworkhasbeen laidby thepreceding teammembers toboth

generateprocessesanddatabasesofinformationfortheuseoffutureteammembers,and

tocultivaterelationshipsbetweenJCUMotorsportandthecommunity.

Themain

goal

for

JCU

Motorsport

in

2009

is

to

design

and

build

acomplete

race

car

by

the

endoftheyear,beforebeginningatestinganddevelopmentprogramtopreparethecarfor

the2010FormulaSAEAcompetition.Othergoalsfortheprojectinclude:

EstablishaninfrastructureforfutureJamesCookUniversityEngineeringstudentstobuildon.

Promote James Cook University and demonstrate its facilities and its studentscapabilities.

Establishongoingsupportrelationshipswithlocalandnationalbusinesses.

PromotemotorsportinTownsvilleandsurroundingregionsinNorthQueensland.

Createexposureforoursponsorsandourselves.

JCU Motorsport is an organization that relies on the support of the local community to

achieve itsobjectives.Our team ismadeupofenthusiasticand resourcefulstudentswho

WhatisFormulaSAE?

FormulaSAE isacompetition foruniversitystudentstodesign,constructandraceasmall

openwheel style race car. It was originally developed in the USA by the Society of

AutomotiveEngineers(SAE),andhasnowbeenadoptedbymanycountries,withthe local

Australasiandivision(FSAEA)commencinginyear2000.

Today, Formula SAEA has become popular with engineering students from nearly all

Australianuniversities,

as

well

as

students

from

universities

from

New

Zealand,

Japan,

MalaysiaandIndia.ItisalsocommontoseeEuropeanteams especiallyfromDenmarkand

Germany comingtothecompetitionheldinMelbourneeveryDecember.

FormulaSAEA teams consistentirelyofengineering students, fromdesigners through to

management.Financially,theteamsrelyonthegeneroussupportofprivatebusinessesand

companies.
