Turbocharged.In the driver’s seat, performance and strength are perfectly controlled. An engineer would probably say that it is an intelligent way of making the engine more efficient.* We call it turbocharging. It simply means taking energy from the exhaust and using it to feed more air into the engine. The result is more power and more torque from a smaller and lighter engine. Our 2.3-liter four-cylinder turbo engine, for example, delivers 260 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque while getting 27 mpg on the highway.*

Side air bags.*High, two-part side air bags fitted in the front seat’s backrest help protect both the head and thorax.

CargoTracks.™Standard in the Saab 9-5 SportCombi. It allows you to secure different types of loads. Together with the sturdy backrest, you can count on improved load-shifting protection.**

Interacting safety systems.Crumple zones, air bags, safety belts and the Saab Active Head Restraints (SAHR) for front seat passengers are just some of the safety systems designed to help protect you and your passengers. They are designed to interact, absorb and help distribute impact energy efficiently.

Dual-stage front air bags.*Designed to register the crash force and monitor whether the safety belt is being used. The system adjusts air bag deployment to suit, either to the maximum or with lower pressure.

Passenger Sensing System.Designed to monitor the front passenger seat with regard to whether the occupant is heavy or light or if the seat is empty. The system is configured not to deploy the frontal air bag* if the seat is unoccupied or if the system registers a small occupant below a certain weight. Air bag* status “on/off” is displayed via the lamp in the instrument panel.

Broad front structure.Designed to protect in frontal crashes from a variety of angles and objects. Crash boxes and front beams are designed to deform in a controlled manner to help absorb the impact energy.

Reinforced doors.With protective beams and overlapping sills that are designed to help prevent door intrusion into the cabin.

Safety structure.Front and rear crumple zones are designed to help distribute collision forces over a wide area to help reduce the effects of a collision on you and your passengers.

Robust B-pillar.Designed to work as a pendulum and bend inwards at the bottom to help direct crash forces away from the occupants.

Even in vehicles equipped with a Passenger Sensing System, children are safer when properly secured in a rear seat in an appropriate infant, child or booster seat. Head curtain side air bags are designed to help reduce the risk of head and neck injuries to front-and rear-seat occupants on the near side of certain collisions. You have a commanding view of the instruments and the road ahead. We’ve also integrated innovative solutions like the ComSense concept and the unique Saab Night Panel — features designed to help you stay a more focused driver. And as a result, a safer driver.ComSense.Designed to reduce distraction by briefly delaying warning messages when the brakes or turn indicators are activated. This helps you stay focused when you turn, pass or brake.

Night Panel.Designed to facilitate night driving. Press a button and the entire instrument panel, except for the speedometer, fades out. When attention is needed, the relevant instrument lights up.

Driver Information Center.Integrated in the speedometer. Shows ambient temperature, fuel consumption and estimated distance on remaining fuel. You also get functions such as distance to destination, estimated time of arrival and speed warning.

Steering wheel controls.For the audio system and Driver Information Center. Gear shifting buttons for the Sentronic automatic transmission.

Dual-zone automatic climate control.Different temperatures for driver and front passenger. Electrostatic/carbon filter designed to help clean the incoming air from particles down to 0.004 mm in size. Designed to keep the passenger compartment free of dust, soot, pollen and certain bacteria.

Ventilated sport seats.Perforations in the seat and fans in the front seat backrest and seat bottom help keep your body cool. (Available)

Ultrasonic rear parking assist.Helps when parking in tight spots. Alerts you as you get close to a stationary object behind the car. (Included in the available Visibility Package)

Four-Year/50,000-Mile Limited Warranty. If any part of your Saab vehicle covered under this warranty is found to have a manufacturing defect in materials or workmanship occurring during normal use, the manufacturer will make the appropriate corrections free-of-charge (parts and labor) with no deductible, for four years or 50,000 miles.*
