PROGRESS REPORT

Dear LLA Members and Friends,

Reflecting on past accomplishments is enlightening. It’s instructive to look carefully atwhat you’ve done well — and not so well — to help you choose the right path for thefuture. Looking back is what most annual reports do.

However, 2008 was not an average year at LLA and we had plenty of reasons to feelproud. LLA continued to build leadership capacity for our community with successfulongoing programs such as Opportunity Indianapolis, Get on Board and LEAD.

We served as Indianapolis’s premier leadership network for hundreds of members. Thanks in part to the steady support of our Lacy Society members and our generouspartners, we continue to weather the storm of difficult economic times and keep ourorganization and community strong.

Also in 2008, one of our most significant accomplishments was to thoughtfully plan forthe future of our organization. We completed a strategic plan that now serves as acornerstone for our future actions, accomplishments and success. Through thisplanning process we identified four key areas of focus: advancement, communications, membership and programming. These areas will direct our work as we maintain andgrow our position as the premier leadership organization in central Indiana. We’veorganized this report into these focus areas so you can see how where we’ve beenaligns perfectly with where we’re going.

Our past and our future are entwined. Who we were becomes who we are and who wewill be. Thank you for helping us achieve our past successes. Our legacy is strong. Ourfuture is bright.

Advancement

No organization is immune from financial worrieswhen the economy slows down. LLA is noexception. As we look ahead, we’ll continue toface the challenges that come with a strugglingeconomy. But, as we saw in 2008, LLA canweather the storm with purposeful planning andhard work. Going forward, our strategy isn’t to becomplacent; rather, we are committed to takingdecisive steps to increase our financial viabilityand stability while advancing the cause of strongbusiness and civic leadership in Indianapolis. We’lloffer our partners enhanced benefits designed tomaximize their LLA support. We’ll develop a moremission-centric collaboration with LeadershipVentures for Get on Board 2009, and we’llcontinue to partner with Indy Hub to offer thetype of quality programming our members haveasked for.

Highlights from 2008

Partners and Sponsors. We were fortunate toform key partnerships with 52 sponsors andsupporters. These sponsors represent a widerange of local and regional businesses from thelegal, energy, medical, civic, educational, financialand cultural sectors. Their support at thePlatinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze partnershiplevels provided LLA with over $150,000 to helpmake our programming possible in 2008.

The Lacy Society. We enjoyed continuedsuccess with our efforts to further develop theLacy Society as a donor organization dedicatedto creating a legacy of leadership within ourmembership ranks. By making a $1,000contribution, 80 members helped LLA expandprogramming, serve more up-and-comingleaders and add value to crucial initiatives inour community.

Collaborations. LLA’s alignment with ourstrategic partners enhanced the tangibleleadership opportunities we presented to ourmembers and expanded our involvement andimpact throughout the community. LeadershipVentures, Indy Hub, MusicCrossroads and TheMind Trust all worked with us on key events andinitiatives in 2008.
