Changes in Office 2007 Deployment
ORK (Office Resource Kit) is no longer required to automate a custom install for any Office Product
CIS (Custom Installation Wizard) is included in setup.exe, referred to now as OCT (Office Customization Tool)
Updates are no longer applied through CustomSettings.ini; automatically chained when update MSP is placed in the Updates folder
LIS (Local Installation Source) is now mandatory
MST (Transforms) are replaced by MSPs that are created by the OCT
Preparing for Installation
Create installation point by copying contents to hard drive or network share
Run setup.exe /admin to create config.xml
• Requires Volume Media
Configure your installation options
Save MSP to updates folder if only one configuration
Test installation
Prepare the Environment
Office Migration Planning Manager (OMPM)• File Scanner (offscan.exe), a command-line tool that
scans files for conversion issues and reports them.
• The Office File Converter (OFC) that allows you to convert specific files to the new 2007 Office release file formats in bulk.
• The Version Extraction Tool (VET) that allows you to extract saved versions of a file in Word 2003 (or earlier) to different files.
