The centre impacts vocational training to our students. It provides training to 70 students in ourvarious types of training i.e.Music,Computer operating,Chair Canning,Door mats,office filles & folders,telephone operating etc.

The Centre has been recognized by Akhil Bhartiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal,Mumbai for Praveshika to Visharad Level This year,we have 75 students,Our student got 100% result for Praveshika, and Mahyama..We also teach Music to School Students.

This year we have, with the help of ASHA for education,USA, started computer Centre with Jawssoftware for the blind to give training to Blind and other disabled students.There are about 75students including 15 ATCB Students, taking Basic Computer Training .Sylabus for the ATCB

students will be equal to 8th and 9th std.students this year and next year upto 12th level.

The Fundamental principle of the Integerated Education is to educate the visually impaired & otherhandicapped with other normal students.This allowes the special students to gain a lot of self confidence and a feeling is developed within themselves that their abilities is no less than the other students.It grows awareness amongst the normal students and also amongst the other common people.

We are proud of getting involved immediately after the policy was implemented by the government of

India. We started Integerated Education Project in the year 1988 with 16 childeren and in 2005-06 , we reached to 300 students including 130 Boys & girls.staying in Hostels.

NEW CONCEPT

There are many Schemes for Rehabilation and Assistance are intrduced by the Government but reaching

to the beneficiaries were in a question.After due thoughts and involvement of NAB,Gujarat State Branch,introduced CBR Project called Ashtavakra Yojna.

This yojna is a Community Based Rehabilitation Programme covering disabled persons. MEET DISABLED PEOPLE & HELP THEM is the basic principle of this yojna. For success of this scheme it is important toreach beyond the mind of blind and disabled persons.CBR will have to reach to this level.

CBR involves measures taken at the community level to use and build on the resources of the

community,including the visually impaired,disabled and the handicapped persons themselves, their

families and their community as a whole.

OUR ROLE

In the year 2004,we were appointed to implement this scheme for Pardi Taluka and happy to report thatthis scheme is successfully completed on 30th Jun,2006

It was treamendous job to reach to such disabled at door level to towns, particularly to educate themabout Govt.Schemes,advising and providing Support Services in the area of helping them to obtainMedical Cerificates from Civil urgeon,Medical Treatments ,B.P.L.Card,Raiway Pass, Benefits of SaintSurdas Scheme,helping them to get Govt Aids and appliances ,and so many other helps,and we did it with the guidance our Nodel Agency-NAB Gujarat State Branch,and with the twelve field workers and one field

supervisor,successfully completed this project on 30th Jun,2006.

The Annual General Meeting for the year 2004-05 was held on 9th April,2006 and following work wasdone :

1.Approval of Annual Accounts for the year 2004-05.

2.Appointment of Auditors M/s Yatin Desai & Co.Valsad for

the year 2005-06.

3.The continuation of State Branch Administration.

During the year under review,Income by way of Donation,Govt.Grants and other Income is Rs.35.70 Lacs.The income includes Rs.12.00 Lacs from abroad,ASHA for Education,USA.As against

this income, spent amount is Rs.37.88 Lacs resuled into deficit of Rs.2.18 and after adding Depreciation,the total deficit resulted in to 13.91 Lacs.

The main reason of deficit is non receipt of Govermment grants for the year 2004-05 and 2005-06 around Rs18 lacs.We are struggling for obtaining Grant particularly of Integerated Education Project.Over and above regular expenditure,salary to approved IEP staff is also not receiving from govt. .As a guesture,NAB –is/will be paying on a/c payment as advance salary fromit’s own fund till our resources permits.

Further,major adjustments,mainly,accounting lapses amounting to Rs.11.38 Lacs pertaining to previous year/s has been made in appropriation in Income & expenditure.

The UNFORTUNATE on banker’s PART is Liquidation of Bulsar Peoples Bank where we have adeposit of Rs.16.65 Lacs, almost lost.We have tried with liquidator for obtaining full deposit but no result except sympathy. The loss will be charged in the Accounts in the year when loss isassessed....

It has been decided not to keep any major fund in Cooperative Sector unless cooperativeSector is sheltered by Gujarat Government for Trusts.

This year,with the assistance of ASHA for Education,USA , we have established Computer

Lab.In this Lab,SIX Computers are installed with Jaws for window Software for the blind along with Talking Typing Teacher which are very special to Blind students.With the help ofNAB,Mumbai and NAB, State Branch,Ahmedabad installed these software along with Sweeden make Braille Printer successfully,Dr.Vimlaben and her team remained presentduring implementation process..

The Braille Printer was demonsrated in June,2006 by Mr.Agrawal, a welknown SoftwareEngineer and expert for Blind.in presence of Mr.Babubhai Babwani of Amreli,Mr.PrakashbhaiMankodi of Jamnagar anf Rambhai Patel.

There were only such Fifteen computer centres in India last year as per Mr.Ram Agrawal,Wehave pleasure to join this Computer Club this year.

This facility is being used by 5th to 12th std.students and implementing training courses forATCB Students.

This Braille Printer and Braille Coputer Lab costs .around Rs.6.10 Lacs

It is important for the Blind Students to have Reader to update their knowledge.Theconcept of giving Reader is fine but technological support can also provide good help to

Blind Students.

In Recent past and also at present,we are using Casset Player for Blind Students but now a days use of CD is becoming more familiar amongst the sighted students.The concept ofuse of CDs by blind students is /will be more effective and therefore,we planned for Technological upgrade.

With the help of ASHA for Education,USA we have establisd AUDIO Lab Room with Six

Audio and twelve Head phones.and fuurnitures.In this room,at a time twelve Blind Students can sit and use this facilities.

The cost of AUDIO Lab is around Rs. 0.71 LacsLacsLacsLacs....

Our ground between boys & Girls Hostel was completely open and found unsafe for our

students for sports activities.To encourage sports activities,Dr.Vimlaben Lalbhai, fromKasturbhai Lalbhai Benevolent Fund,Atul ,donated Rs.1.13 lacs for full GroundDevelopment Cost.

The ground is developed with Brick Wall/wire Fencing along with Gate.

With the help of ASHA for Education USA,We have established Braille Library Room with furnitures..At present,250 Braille Books are supplied free by our Gujarat State Branch.

We are in process of purchasing other Braille Books to make this Library rich in providingknowledge.The Braille books are very costly ,almost 25 times more than sighted books and in such situation,our state brach has helped by giving Braille books free of cost

The cost of this Braille Library Room is Rs.0,90 Lcs

3.Our girls played first time in Girls Cricet at Surat and got 1st Prize.

Our students health is a top priority in our activity.Our students are mainiy from poor adivasiarea of Dharampur,Kaprada etc.Our focuss for these students is not just to maintain theirhealth but to provide the best of medical needs.

Our students get regular treatment from:

1. Dr.Gumansih for general treatment,

2 Dr.Vasavda for Orthopedic treatment,

3. Dr.Ushaben for Gynec treatment ,

4. Dr.Pullok Mukerji for eye treatment,

4 Civil Hospital,Valsad.

We keep First Aid Box with the medicines suggested by our doctors in our Both Hostel.

FURTHER,

We keep Health Check up periodically.During this year we arranged following Camps :

1.Blood Group Camp in association with Valsad Raktadan Kendra,Valsad

2.Eye check up in association with Rotary Eye Institute,Navsari.

3.General Health Check up in association with Local Specialists- Dr.Gumansinh and Dr.NimeshDesai,General Practisioners,Dr.Ashish Desai,Surgeon,Dr.Paras Kothari,Orthopedicsurgeon,Dr.Samixaben Shah Skin specialist,Dr.Rupaben Solanki Gynecologist.

Nab,Valsad is a Study Centre for conducting Foundation Course approved by Rehabiilitation Council of India,New Delhi.

This course is on Education of Childern with Disablities.The basic training is given to primary schoolteachers on understanding of early childhood of disabled,their development and intervention withdisabilities,development of adaptive skills,parents councilling etc.

This year,we have conducted third Batch of Foundation Courses of Madhya Pradesh Bhoj (Open) Unversity covering 33 students July & Sept,2005 .Our teachers mainly,Mr.Chaturbhai Patel,andMr.Ishvarbhai Patel took lead role in conducting this course.Result of our Centre is 91%..

The National Association for the Blind in working since five decades for the upliftment of Blind Adults

and children to give education,training in various fields and also provide them various opportunities foremployments to lead better life.

The NAB Valsad District branch is working in the area of:

Training thro various Training programme and about 50 students are taking training in the area ofmaking Office files,Book Binding training,Telephone operating training etc.

We have recently installed Computer centre with Jaws talking software for the Blind and BraillePress with the help of ASHA for Education USA & started educating Blind Students in this field also.

We have music centre recognized by Akhil Bhartiya Gandharva Vidyalaya,Miraj,Mumbai.We haveabout 75 students,mainly blind low vision studying from Prarambhik to Visharad level.
