14 20/04/2017 Students are supervised between the hours of 8.50 am and 3.45 pm Principals report What a fantastic school we have here at Nyora with so many great opportunities for all our students. A BIG thank you to the parents, who over the school holidays gave our school garden and play areas a big tidy up. What a great way to welcome students back to term 2. Our final weeks of Term 1 saw a very well attended GrandparentsDay. Our students loved having Grandparents and friends arrive and share with them some great activities. Have a look in our photo gallery. Thank you everyone for making our Book Fair such a great success. A special thanks to Mrs Hunter and our Book Fairy Mel Cromie. Thank you to all those families who donated books to our school. Our students have already started enjoying them. We now have money and vouchers to spend on books and resources for the grades. All our students will benefit from your generosity. Our Athletics Sporting Day was a great success. The Spiderbacks certainly looked great in their new T-shirts. What a pleasure it was to watch our students give their best effort and show great sportsmanship. Our cheer squad were busy all day cheering the Redbacks on. The Nyora spirit was great to see. Congratulations to Hayley Styles for winning the medal in her age group and the Redbacks for winning the Team Cup. A big thank you to Caroline Maynard for organising the shirts and all our fantastic parents who worked in the canteen on the day. A big thank you to our parents who organised and set out the sand and cleared it away after the sports. Term 2 looks to be shaping up to be another great term with lots of learning tasks, activities and excursions to engage our students, to further their learning. Nyora is a great school. Karen Farbus ~ Principal Monday 24th April,2017 Parents, Family members, War Veterans and the community are welcome to attend a special Nyora Primary School service at the War memorial, starting at 9.15am. You are all welcome to come back to school for morning tea. Poowong Fun Day Our school is running a stall at the Poowong fun day on Sunday 23rd April, we are going to be selling Lemonade and lucky jars. Donations of lucky jars will be gladly appreciated! Just find any clean jar and lid at home, and add items such as erasers, pencils, stationery, lollies, chocolates, plastic animals, little cars etc. a great place to find stuff is at the $2 shop or Kmart! A box will be placed in office area for donations. If you can help on the day ( Sunday 23rd April) we have put a sheet in the office, please fill in which time suits you! Auskick Our Auskick starts this Monday 24th April after school at 3:45pm - 5pm. Our Coordinator is Nathan Broadmore. A fruit platter will be provided for your Childs after school snack. You can register your child online at http://www.aflauskick.com.au and then your child will be ready to play Auskick! Principal’s report

Uniforms

Nyora has a compulsory school uniform policy. Our students wear a gold or navy polo shirt, navy shorts or track pants (no leggings), a royal blue windcheater, and broad-brimmed navy blue hat. Girls may wear a blue and white check school dress. All items are available for sale at the office. Hats Nyora Primary has a Sun Smart Policy and all students must wear a broad-brimmed hat when involved in out-door activities or playing during break times during Term 1 and Term 4. These are part of our uniform and are available at the office for $10.00. Swimming Nyora Primary School Swimming program is held in term 4.

Playgroup Nyora Primary Play Group meet on Wednesdays from 9.00 to 11.00 at the school. Cost is $2 per family for

each session. Tea, Coffee and hot chocolate provided as well as making a new craft each week! It is a great

way for kids to play with new friends and mums to meet for a chat. All are very welcome.

Community catch-up

On Friday mornings 9am - 11am, Nyora Primary School will be holding a Commu-

nity Catch-up. The

morning will be held in the playgroup room. The morning will give all members of our community a chance to

come together and have a coffee and a chat. Feel free to bring your neighbours even if they haven’t children at

our school.

Lunch Orders

Lunch orders are available at Nyora Primary on Fridays. These are prepared by the Nyora General Store and

menus have been sent home. If you need another price list they are available from the office.

The Nyora General Store is following government guidelines to promote healthy eating. To support the store in

following these guidelines, please order what is on the lunch order list, so that your child/children are not

disappointed.

Parent payments for essential items

Parent payments are now due, you can make payment via Credit card, cash or cheque. Payment plans are also

available, please see Karen or Kerry in the office.

Cadbury Chocolate drive

Our Chocolate drive has now finished, thank you to all the families who have handed the money in for the box-

es! Please go to office and make payment if you haven't done so yet, it will be greatly appreciated as this helps

with our essential items at our little school.

Easter Raffle

Thank you to all those who bought raffle tickets and donated Easter items! We raised an amazing $335.50!!!!!!

Congratulations to our winners, the Dowel family, the Ermolov family, Adele Murray, Clay Hance and friends

of Alanah & Jazmyn.

Funky Hair Day

Students had a blast trying out new and interesting hair styles! Our winners of the day were Kaedan, Tyson and

Adele! We raised $48.35 for this very special cause, the money will go towards the Leukaemia Foundation.

Monthly Calendar

Each month a new calendar will be sent home with all the important dates and activities that are happening at

Nyora Primary School. While we try to include all upcoming events, at times some events are offered at late

notice. I will send out information and dates if this occurs, also they are highlighted in our newslet-

ter so you can add these to your calendar.

School Sports Day

What a fantastic day and a fantastic effort from all our kids at Nyora Primary School. The Red-backs were very successful on the day in both individual and team sports. Hayley Styles won the under 10 girls individual award, well done Hayley! Thank you to our wonderful Parents and Friends for running our sports day canteen which was a great success.

~A BIG Thank-you~ Mark for maintenance around the school. Chris, Mark & Shane for organising and setting up the sand for sports day. Canteen helpers: Carolyn, Eleanor, Kelly, Jaimee, Mel, Blair, Shona, Dodie & Katie. Chris and Jessie for setting up gazebos and helping out throughout the day!
