Logic controls typically convert analog voltage or current inputs to signals that monitor for speed, direction, frequency or time. Some logic controls feature relay outputs that can be used to selectminimum and maximum values. These versatile modules can be used for level control, for poweringtransmitters, or for a multitude of general-purpose and intrinsically safe applications.

When combined with P+F N3 output sensors, the following switch isolators act as logic controlsand can be used to detect the direction of moving targets:

• KFD2-SR2-Ex2.W (see page 11)• KFD2-SR2-Ex2.2S (see page 12)• KFA5-SR2-Ex2.W (see page 15)• KFA6-SR2-Ex2.W (see page 16)• KFD2-SOT2-Ex2 (see page 21)• KFA5-SOT2-Ex2 (see page 24)• KFA6-SOT2-Ex2 (see page 25)• KFD2-ST2-Ex2 (see page 26)

To be used as direction detection, these logic controls must be connected to a bistable, N3 outputsensors found in the 2002 P+F Sensor Catalog. These sensors have outputs that latch when atarget passes through the ring and do not unlatch until the target passes in the opposite direction. For more information about these switch isolators, refer to the pages indicated above. For assistancewith direction detection applications, contact a GreenTeam representative at (330) 486-0002 or e-mail usat [email protected].

Universal FrequencyConverter withDisplay

KFU8-UFC-Ex1.D

This universal frequency converterconverts a digital input signal into ananalog output signal for connection tostandard current input devices. A passivetransistor output isolates and transfers thedigital signal. Two relay outputs can beprogrammed to actuate at desiredfrequencies. The unit is programmable byusing push buttons on the front panel, orwith a PC and the PACTware configurationsoftware. A debounce circuit eliminatesextraneous signals from relay bounce. Thesame unit can be powered from 24 VDC, 120VAC or 240 VAC.

Lead breakage and short circuits in thesensor are indicated by a red LED.

Latching RelaySwitch Isolator

This isolator is a galvanically isolatedintrinsic safety barrier with a latching relayfor level control, pump up/pump down, orother switch/logic applications. The leadbreakage feature of this barrier requires aconnection of a 10 kΩ resistor in parallelwith the contact when using a mechanicalswitch. NAMUR proximity sensors, however, are designed with the LBfunction and make external resistorsunnecessary. If an LB fault occurs, thesignal output relay reverts to the de-energized state. The output de-energizesif the unit loses power. When power isrestored, the output relay returns to thesame state it held before the interruption.

The KFD2-GU-Ex1 accepts a varietyof inputs and provides a relay tripwhenever it reaches a user-programmedset point. This unit is configuredwith a K-ADP1 adapter, PACTwaresoftware and a PC. Terminal K-CJC isavailable for thermocouples when internalcompensation is desired. K-ADP1,PACTware and K-CJC are sold separately.
