MUSEUM REDESIGN
We have almost completed the redesign, begun in 1999.Along with the fresh paint, the walls were organized intothemes, photos resized and framed, and captions createdto tell the story of Ocean Township’s history. Soon we willbe acquiring cabinets, sorely needed to store documentsand artifacts in the limited space we have.
SCHOOL VISITS
The third grades are visiting the museum for a tour and alesson in the history of Ocean Township. Volunteers areneeded and welcome. Can you help? Call 531-2136.
QUILT NEWS
Marge Edelson has already been planning the Year 2000quilt with her team of dedicated volunteers. Thehandmade quilt, as always, will be raffled off in Decemberat the annual exhibit, and is the largest fundraiser for themuseum. Thanks to all members and friends for theircontinuing support. Dallas Grove, Wanamassa, won the1999 quilt.
EXHIBIT
Our 1999 exhibit, “Happy Birthday Oakhurst School”proved to be another successful event, In terms ofappreciation by those who viewed it, and in raising fundsfor our projects. Thanks to all who helped bring thisexhibit to life. Several former students and teachersgathered at the Museum last fall and lent their mementosand documents and shared remembrances of their schooldays here. Many come on the exhibit days to greetvisitors and meet with old friends. Peggy Dellinger, exhibitdesigner, did a wonderful job of recreating this era ofeducation and village life. Many thanks to the OceanTownship Garden Club for their beautiful decorations forthe playhouse and museum.
