Your final

Option 1: a TED-style Ignite Presentation

An Ignite presentation is promoted under the slogan, “Enlighten us, but make it quick.” Ignite is a presentation where a presenter speaks while slides advance automatically to support him/her. An Ignite presentation is exactly 5 minutes, and contains 20 slides that automatically advance after each slide is displayed for 15 seconds. Want to see an example? https://youtu.be/8CtC_qbQ51U

Remember, you may include up to 1 minute of video in 15 second increments. Each 15 seconds of video=1 less slide. So, if you have 1 minute of video, you will have only 16 slides (your video must be imbedded into your presentation).

Option 1: a TED-style Ignite Presentation

Remember, you are speaking your content and the

presentation is adding to what you are saying! Your slides

should be pictures, not words!

Make sure your presentation is engaging!

Make sure all of the items on the rubric with an asterisk (*)

get at least 1 slide (if not more).

Option 2: 20 Time Fair

Your 20 Time Fair presentation will include a tri-fold poster with the

required information from the rubric and any additional information you want to include. You may also have a video on your iPad. Be

prepared to explain your project to 20 Time Fair attendees and

answer any questions they may have. Each attendee will be filling

out a questionnaire while they are listening to you present.

NOTE: You will ALL attend one of the three days – yes…for points!

about your topic, but also ready to answer questions.

Tips to make your

presentation great whether

you are doing the Ignite

presentation or the 20 Time Fair

TIP #1:

TELL YOUR

STORY IN 3

ACTS.

The world’s most captivating

communicators typically rely on

a three-act structure. By structuring

your presentation with a clear and

compelling beginning, middle, and

end, you’ll take your audience on

an exciting journey … the kind that

inspires action, sells products, and

funds businesses. This is true if you

are doing the Ignite Presentation or

the 20 Time Fair!

TIP #2:

A PICTURE IS WORTH

1000 WORDS.

Humans more easily learn and

recall information that is

presented as pictures than

when the same information is

presented in words.

Images are powerful. Use

them liberally.

TIP #3:

EMOTIONS

GET OUR

ATTENTION.

Make sure your presentation

content goes beyond pure

“facts.” Triggering audience

emotion is a guaranteed

way to increase retention

and impact of your core

message.

TIP #4:

USE PLAIN

ENGLISH.

If you want to improve your

ability to persuade an

audience, use simple language,

free of jargon. Make sure your

key messages are concrete and

consistent. And don’t forget to

use vivid metaphors or analogies

to provide context and clarity

around big numbers and

complex ideas.
