n-Propyl Bromide, commonly referred to as nPB, is a solvent that is frequently found in industrial cleaners and degreasers. nPB has recently been called into question due to its potential harmful effects to workers.

WHAT IS N-PROPYL BROMIDE (nPB)?

The evaluation of nPB in industrial cleaners has prompted organizations and establishments, such as the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists, to adopt much lower workers’ exposure limits to the chemical. This lower exposure threshold means new investments will be needed to better ensure industrial workers’ safety – things like personal protective equipment and better ventilation.

Recognizing that implementing these modifications will be costly and time-intensive, a more immediate solution is to replace products containing nPB with nPB-free product solutions.
