Afternoon: Enjoy a fabulous cruise and live jazz music aboard a majestic Mississippi paddle wheeler (optional), or free time in the French Quarter. Evening: Visit The Bombay Club, an upscale bar and restaurant, for early evening performance featuring Jules Boult with The New Orleans Redeemers. (B)DAY 9 Tuesday 28 April 2020 IndianolaDepart New Orleans and travel to Indianola, Mississippi, in the heart of the historic Delta Blues region. On arrival in Indianola, visit B.B. King’s burial site & the B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center. Evening: Take in some live blues music at Indianola’s historic Club Ebony (if available), where Ray Charles, Count Basie, B.B. King & other legendary acts have performed (optional). Overnight: Hampton Inn & Suites by Hilton, Indianola. (B)DAY 10 Wednesday 29 April 2020 Memphis Morning: Travel to Clarksdale, Mississippi. On arrival visit the Devil’s Cross-roads, at the intersection of highways 49 & 61… the place where bluesman Robert Johnson supposedly sold his soul in exchange for the guitar prowess that made him one of the most revered blues musicians ever. We then visit the outstanding Delta Blues Museum. Morning tea (or lunch) at the famous Ground Zero Blues Club, nearby. You will also have time to visit the excellent Cat Head Delta Blues record/CD/book store. Afternoon: Continue on to Memphis, Tennessee – home of the blues and the birthplace of rock ‘n’ roll. Late afternoon: Free time. Evening: Spend a fabulous evening in colourful Beale Street, famous for its live blues music venues, including B.B. King’s, the Rum Boogie Café, & the Blues City Band Box (all venues optional). Overnight: Holiday Inn Memphis – Downtown. (B)DAY 11 Thursday 30 April 2020 MemphisMorning: You can choose to enjoy a guided tour of Sun Studio (part museum/part recording studio), where Howlin’ Wolf, Elvis, Johnny Cash, & others recorded, or visit one of two other museums nearby – the Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum or the Stax Museum of American Soul Music. Afternoon: You can choose to visit either Graceland (Elvis Presley’s famous mansion & other Elvis-related displays), or the excellent National Civil Rights Museum (the motel – now museum – where Dr. Martin Luther King Jnr was assassinated). Afternoon: Travel to the city of Austin. The long-running Austin City Limits music TV show and the annual South by Southwest music/media conference/festival have helped Austin become widely known as the ‘Live Music Capital of the World’. Evening: Commencement of Tour Dinner. Jules Boult will sing a few songs! After dinner visit Austin’s Sixth Street/Red River precinct for live blues music at the fabulous Maggie Mae’s bar, overlooking Sixth Street. Overnight: Embassy Suites by Hilton Austin Central. (B,D) DAY 5 Friday 24 April 2020 New OrleansMorning: Travel to the town of Breaux Bridge, in the heart of western Louisiana’s swamp country. Enjoy a swamp tour, by boat. See amazing wildlife (alligators, turtles, birdlife) and distinctive swamp vegetation. Morning tea in Breaux Bridge. Then continue on to New Orleans, arriving mid-afternoon. Evening: Explore the Bourbon Street precinct near our hotel. Overnight: Wyndham Hotel French Quarter. (B) DAY 6 Saturday 25 April 2020 New OrleansToday we attend the first of our two days at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, where past performers have included The Rolling Stones, Diana Ross, Doctor John, Santana, Herbie Hancock, The Doobie Brothers, & Taj Mahal. Grab your festival program, camera and dancing shoes….this will be a wonderful experience! As far as music festivals go, there are none bigger than this! Evening: Visit the Frenchmen Street precinct, on the edge of the French Quarter. You’ll hear some excellent music in this area, at venues like The Blue Nile, The Spotted Cat, & Snug Harbor. (B)DAY 7 Sunday 26 April 2020 New OrleansToday is our second day at the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. DAY 12 Friday 1 May 2020 Chattanooga Today we travel from Memphis to Chattanooga, eastern Tennessee. Morning: In Muscle Shoals, Alabama, see (1) FAME Studios & (2) Muscle Shoals Sound Studio, where artists like Aretha Franklin, Wilson Pickett, & Otis Redding recorded. Afternoon: Enjoy guided tour of Jack Daniel’s Distillery, and have a memorable lunch at Miss Mary Bobo’s Boarding House restaurant, in Lynchburg, Tennessee. Then continue on to the city of Chattanooga, located on the Tennessee River & surrounded by the beautiful Appalachian Mountains. Overnight: DoubleTree by Hilton, Chattanooga. (B,L)DAY 13 Saturday 2 May 2020 AtlantaMorning: Visit the famous Chattanooga Choo Choo Hotel (formerly Chattanooga’s opulent railway station). See a magnificent 19th century American steam locomotive and the hotel’s renowned railway carriage accommodation. Also on the Chattanooga Choo Choo site you may like to visit Songbirds… a first-class rare & vintage guitar museum (optional). Then enjoy a coach tour of Chattanooga’s main sights, including the Bluff View Art District, Walnut Street Bridge and Tennessee River precinct. Mid-morning: Travel to Atlanta, Georgia. Afternoon: Enjoy sightseeing coach tour of Atlanta, with local guide. During the Civil War, Atlanta was an important Confederate stronghold, but it was reduced to rubble when captured by Union General William Sherman. These events became the setting for the famous novel, Gone with the Wind. Nowadays Atlanta is a major economic & cultural centre. During our tour visit the Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Site, World of Coca-Cola visitor centre, & The Tabernacle… a well-known blues venue. Evening: Visit one of Atlanta’s outstanding live blues music venues (optional). Overnight: Hampton Inn & Suites Atlanta – Downtown. (B) DAY 14 Sunday 3 May 2020 Savannah, GeorgiaToday we travel to the Atlantic coast city of Savannah, one of America’s most beautiful & historic cities (established 1733). With its many antebellum mansions & oak trees, dripping with Spanish moss, Savannah has a real ‘Gone with the Wind’ flavour. A special feature of the city is its 21 small squares (parks, with trees, fountains & statues). Mid-afternoon: On arrival, check into our hotel, then free time. Evening: Attend a fabulous live Broadway-type show at the outstanding Historic Savannah Theatre. Overnight: DoubleTree by Hilton Savannah Historic District. (B)DAY 15 Monday 4 May 2020 SavannahMorning: Sightseeing coach tour of Savannah with local guide. See the city’s many beautiful & historic antebellum type homes and walk through some of its famous squares. See the statue of local songwriter, the late Johnny Mercer, who wrote over 1000 songs, including the lyrics of Moon River. After the city tour travel through Georgia’s picturesque coastal region, including Tybee Island. See impressive Tybee Island Lighthouse. Returning to Savannah, visit the beautiful Bonaventure Cemetery, which featured in the 1994 novel, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. Mid-afternoon: Free time. Evening: Group dinner at an excellent Savannah restaurant. Jules Boult and ‘friends’ (local blues musicians) will provide the music! (B,D)

DAY 16 Tuesday 5 May 2020 Charleston, South CarolinaMorning: Travel to Charleston, South Carolina. Charleston is another of the South’s most beautiful and historic cities. Founded in 1670, it retains much of its early period architecture. Its historic district is often compared to the French Quarter in New Orleans. Afternoon: Free time for you to explore the colourful Charleston City Market, and the excellent shops nearby, in the historic district. Evening: 7pm – 8.15pm, attend Sound of Charleston performance, in the city’s Circular Congregational Church (founded in 1681). Performance includes gospel, Gershwin, music of the Civil War, light classics, and jazz. Later, with Jules, take in some local blues music at one of Charleston’s best blues nightspots (optional). Overnight: Hampton Inn Charleston – Historic District. (B)DAY 17 Wednesday 6 May 2020 CharlestonMorning: Sightseeing coach tour of Charleston, with local guide, including The Battery and White Point Garden, which offers spectacular views of Charleston Harbor & Fort Sumter (where the first shots in the Civil War were fired). Also see Charleston’s historic homes. Lunch/early afternoon: Visit Boone Hall Plantation & Gardens. One of America’s oldest working plantations , this antebellum era plantation was originally settled in 1681, and features an impressive Colonial Revival style mansion, 9 original slave cabins, elaborate flower gardens, & an historic ‘Avenue of Oaks’ (planted in 1743). Our tour will include: tour of the mansion; Gullah luncheon; talks on slavery, plantation life, & Gullah culture (including Gullah Geechee storytelling); Gullah musical performance. (The Gullah people are descendants of colonial era slaves who lived on the many islands, and on the coastal plains, of South Carolina’s and Georgia’s Low Country region. They have retained their African culture, language, & traditions to a greater extent than most other African American communities.) Late afternoon: Free time in Charleston, for further exploration of the historic district. Evening: End-of-Tour Dinner, including special Jules Boult blues performance, at one of Charleston’s fine restaurants. Jules Boult is the celebrity host of the 2020 Blues Music Tour of America’s Deep South. He is an award winning blues singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and recording artist. Jules’ musical career has taken him across Australia, the United States and Europe. Since 2011 he has released five albums to critical acclaim and been awarded a coveted Australian Blues Music Award. From 2015 to 2018 Jules toured the US annually, from New Orleans to New York, via the Mississippi delta, performing and recording with various musicians, including Kermit Ruffins, Mississippi John Horton, & The Oakridge Boys.

TOUR OPERATOR: Travelrite International Pty Ltd (ABN 64 005 817 078) is the tour organiser.TOUR COSTS: The tour’s costs are based on transport, accom -modation costs and entrance costs at 1 March 2019. Travelrite reserves the right to alter the costs if any of these factors change including currency changes, giving any passenger that has booked the right to withdraw with full refund of monies paid or modify arrangements. No alterations to costings will be made within 60 days prior to departure. DEPOSIT AND PAYMENT: A deposit of $500 per passenger is required at the time of booking. Full payment will be required 60 days prior to departure. A 1.5% administration charge will be added to payment by Visa, Mastercard and American Express cards. CANCELLATION CHARGES: Cancellations within 60 days of departure will result in the loss of all monies paid. Cancellation outside 60 days from departure will result in a cancellation fee of $500 per person.
