The sacrifice: Second probation

granted . . . Never can we understand the value of the human

soul until we realize the great sacrifice made for theredemption of the soul upon Calvary. Adams sin in

Eden plunged the human race into hopeless misery.But in the scheme of salvation a way has been

provided for all to escape if they comply with therequirements. A second probation has been granted

by the sacrifice of the Son of God. We have a battleto fight, but we can come off victor through themerits of Christs blood. {CTr 215.2}

Vindication of Gods people

From age to age the Lord has made known themanner of His working. When a crisis hascome, He has revealed Himself, and has

interposed to hinder the working out of Satan'splans. With nations, with families, and withindividuals, He has often permitted matters tocome to a crisis, that His interference might

become marked. Then He has made manifestthat there is a God in Israel who will maintainHis law and vindicate His people. {COL178.2}

The Meaning of the Steps of

Salvation Justification: forgiveness and the exchange of life,

the sprouting of the seed, entrance to the trial offaith.

Sanctification: growing the character of Christ; thegrowing into maturity, going through the trial offaith.

Perfection: the fruition of Sanctification, the fruit ofChrists righteousness; the fruit, the victory in thetrial of faith.

Glorification: the completion of Salvation, thevindication of Gods character ; the harvest, thecrowning of righteousness and life.

Vindication of Gods character

Just before us is the closing struggle of the

great controversy when, with "all power and

signs and lying wonders, and with alldeceivableness of unrighteousness," Satan

is to work to misrepresent the character of

God, that he may "seduce, if it werepossible, even the elect.

But not so when the great controversy shall beended. Then, the plan of redemption havingbeen completed, the character of God isrevealed to all created intelligences. The

precepts of His law are seen to be perfect andimmutable. Then sin has made manifest itsnature, Satan his character. Then theextermination of sin will vindicate God's love

and establish His honor before a universe ofbeings who delight to do His will, and inwhose heart is His law. {DA 764.3}

If there was ever a people in need ofconstantly increasing light from heaven, it isthe people that, in this time of peril, God has

called to be the depositaries of His holy lawand to vindicate His character before theworld. Those to whom has been committed atrust so sacred must be spiritualized, elevated,

The Glorification of Christ

The Father gave all honor to His Son, seatingHim at His right hand, far above allprincipalities and powers. He expressed His

great joy and delight in receiving the CrucifiedOne, and crowning Him with glory and honor.And all the favors He has shown to His Son inHis acceptance of the great atonement, are

shown to His people. Those who have unitedtheir interests in love with Christ are acceptedin the Beloved

The Glorification of Christ

They suffered with Christ in His deepesthumiliation, and His glorification is of great

interest to them, because they are accepted inHim. God loves them as He loves His Son.Christ, Emmanuel, stands between God and thebeliever, revealing the glory of God to His

chosen ones, and covering their defects andtransgressions with the garments of His ownspotless righteousness. {OHC 53.2}

Sanctuary for repentance The purity and holiness of Christ, the spotless

righteousness of Him who did no sin, was a

perpetual reproach upon all sin in a world ofsensuality and sin Now in Christ he saw God

revealed in His true character--a compassionate,

merciful Father, not willing that any should perish,

but that all should come to Him in repentance, andhave eternal life. {LHU 28.4}

The True Repentance

No man can originate the repentance whichis essential for the saving of the soul. He

can no more bring himself to repentancethan he can bring about his own conversion.Repentance is born in the heart bybeholding the love of Christ, who gave His

life to save the sinner. It is the love of Godthat softens the hardest hearts. {RH,September 3, 1901 par. 7}

Justification

The Lord Jesus is the Maker of the mind which

man has debased and enfeebled by sin. The

central power of the earth's fallen subjects is a

demon. He has set up his throne in the world.Christ proposes the means of recovery through

the great work of redemption. "God so loved

the world, that He gave His only begotten Son,that whosoever believeth in Him should not

perish, but have everlasting life.

The Lord Jesus, through sacrificing Hislife upon the cross, purposed by the agencyof the Holy Spirit to bring man to see hisposition as a sinner and surrender his will to

God's will. He will sanctify every soul thatwill receive the gracious gift, and [will]give him power to become a son of God. Hetakes away the destructive tendencies of the

sinful nature and brings the human agencyinto His service. {18MR 208.2}
