• 1st Cy Pres. program result of settlement from MS case• Ran from August 17, 2009 to June 30 2014. Distributed over $44 M• Focus implementation of Iowa Core • Not an entitlement, eligible to apply for funds

2nd Cy Pres program• Program will run from January 1, 2015 to June 30, 2017• Focus PK-3 literacy (you can select one or all the grades in this range)• Eligible schools impacted 74.2% determined highest in terms of F/R, % of students not proficient in

reading and SINA status. Based on 2013-2014 BEDS data• Funding unclaimed funds from first Cy Pres. approximately $?? M. Plus and additional $4.8 M• Split between General Purpose Voucher (GPV) and Software PV (SPV). $2.4 M in each of the

GPV/SPV category. Plus what remained in each category from 1st Cy Pres• Funds distributed on a per pupil basis. Note $?/ student for schools who successfully participated

in 1st Cy Pres survey• Supplement not supplant Can NOT be used to run programs or ordinary school expenses e.g pay

for summer school reading program. Can be use to buy resources for program (also used during regular school year)

Agenda Continued• Reimbursement• Product has to be listed on Eligibility list. Only LEAs and AEAs

can request product review for inclusion. Note if a product is ineligible, there is no appeal. Also make sure you note for which voucher type, if it is eligible for reimbursement. • Has to be specifically mentioned in your application e.g

application states “purchase interactive white boards” invoices submitted for 6 SmartBoards. Be specific in Application.• Subscriptions will only be reimbursed until June 30, 2017.

Thus a three year subscription starting January 1, 2015 and running until December 31, 2017 would only be approximately 83% covered.

draw down will be.
