Based on Intel® Core™ vPro™ processors, 2 in 1 Ultrabooks™ allow sales reps to easily interact with customers rather than technologyValley Respiratory, located in Mesa and Sun City, Arizona, was only founded in 2006, yet the company has had an incredible growth trajectory. “We have created a comprehensive approach to the treatment of respiratory disorders by offering a range of respiratory equipment, as well as partnering with local specialists and physicians,” says president Ron Evans. “In addition, we have two other businesses that augment the services that Valley Respiratory can provide to its patients—a sleep lab and a durable medical equipment company.”

Evans’ sales team works directly with patients who have been referred to Valley Respiratory, in addition to also meeting with physicians and other medical providers. “My sales team is agile. When they’re in the office, they use laptop PCs; while in the field, they use their phones to access our product pages and show physicians what it is we can offer,” says Ron.

But the small screens and limited functionality of smart phones can leave Valley Respiratory reps frustrated. The company began to consider mobile devices that are powerful enough to manage a calendar and a presentation, as well as easily access the company’s VPN and servers.

The One Device That Businesses NeedCCNS Consulting, a leading managed IT services provider operating in Phoenix, Los Angeles, and Sacramento, manages the IT for Valley Respiratory. They recently introduced the company to the HP Revolve* 2 in 1 Ultrabook™ based on 4th generation Intel® Core™ vPro™ processors.1 “I see the shift from iOS in the business marketplace to the Windows* platform—and I think the critical device that is driving this change is the 2 in 1 or hybrid system like the HP Revolve Ultrabook,” says Karl Bickmore, president of CCNS Consulting.

“A 2 in 1 Ultrabook becomes the one device people carry, rather than a tablet and a laptop. In addition, I think the psychology behind essentially buying one device and getting two is a powerful motivator.”

A 2 in 1 Ultrabook gives users the flexibility of two devices in one and can save the organizations they work for up to $1,268 over three years in manageability and license fees required for a laptop and an iPad* or Android tablet.2

Touch Functionality Makes My Job EasierRobert Manderville, the sales manager for Valley Respiratory, loves the portability and the touch capabilities of his Ultrabook. “Not only do I manage a team of sales reps, but I’m also out in the field with them visiting clinics and calling on clinics by myself. I also work back in the office, helping out with customer service and managing expense reports. I have a high need for an efficient computer.”

Manderville is often on several screens at once. “I spend a lot of time navigating through our patient information programs. There are lots of tabs and cells. That means I’m using the mouse a lot, clicking back and forth between screens.”

But with the new HP Revolve Ultrabook, Manderville simply swipes between screens. “I absolutely love the touch capability. It makes my job so much easier. I can quickly jump between screens with just a swipe of my finger. It’s much faster than a mouse and lets me accomplish more.”

More Working, Less WaitingIn addition to breakthrough mobility, the HP Revolve 2 in 1 Ultrabook based on the Intel Core vPro processor also gives Valley Respiratory the numerous advantages of Intel vPro technology. This means that CCNS Consulting can deliver even more bottom line benefits to Valley Respiratory, day in and day out.

“Because of new technology, our clients today are much more mobile, which means we don’t often go to them when there is an issue. And with vPro, we don’t have to,” says CCNS’s Bickmore. “vPro saves us truck rolls and its capability lets us work on a frozen device anywhere in the world.3 It also integrates seamlessly into our standard tool set, making provisioning and management easier. We only sell devices with Intel vPro and it has been our standard for quite some time—it gives us an advantage over our competition.”

One light device. Manderville loves the portability of the HP Revolve Ultrabook. “I was using a heavy laptop with a 17-inch screen. It definitely wasn’t easy to carry around. But now, I often leave the office on sales calls with just the 2 in 1 and a few patient notes. It’s so light and durable, I don’t even put it in a briefcase,” says Manderville. “I can foresee that I really won’t need another device. The 2 in 1 has made my life a lot easier.”

Bickmore says, “When talking to my clients today, I ask them why they would want to buy three devices—a tablet, a laptop, and a desktop—when the new 2 in 1 Ultrabooks are all they need. The breakthrough in performance on these devices makes the difference.”

Getting closer to customers. Manderville likes that he can walk around with the Revolve in tablet mode. “It’s just more mobile. If I have to walk into a clinic, I can pull up information on the tablet a lot easier than I can on a laptop—and it doesn’t put a device between me and my customers. We’re looking at the information together, side-by-side. It’s this mobility part that is making my job easier,” he says. “If I had just a laptop, I’d leave it in the car, but I can carry this into the clinic with me.”

Valley Respiratory president Ron Evans believes the portability and the power of the HP Revolve Ultrabook is an advantage. “In the past, laptops really weren’t a solution for our sales reps because of the weight, and pure tablets have their limitations in processing power. That’s why we really started looking at the 2 in 1 device.”

The power of the 2 in 1 system impressed both men at Valley Respiratory. “This is definitely faster and more powerful than my old laptop,” says Manderville. President Ron Evans concurs. “The processor blows a regular tablet away. I think in most tablets the processors are almost three years behind compared to something like the HP Revolve.”

Evans and Manderville also both agree that the ability to run Microsoft Office* is a bonus for business. Manderville is using Microsoft Office 2013 in both tablet mode and laptop mode on his HP Revolve. “It worked really smoothly in Word*. Although I’m adjusting to using Office 2013,” laughs Manderville, “I like the functionality—there’s just a bit of a learning curve.”

“I absolutely love the touch capability. It makes my job so much easier. I can quickly jump between screens with just a swipe of my finger. It’s much faster than a mouse and lets me accomplish more.”

Robert Manderville, Sales Manager, Valley Respiratory

Mobile, Powerful, ProductiveFor Valley Respiratory, 2 in 1 Ultrabooks give the sales staff the mobility and power they need to be more productive in the office, with clients, and on the road, while at the same time lowering costs and providing Intel vPro technology to improve their security.

“The rest of the sales staff is itching to get their hands on a 2 in 1,” says Evans. “And I want to be able to give them the tools they need to help them grow their territory.”

Manderville agrees with his boss. “I think mobility is the wave of the future. I think we’ll see desktops and even traditional laptops go away as devices become more powerful, smaller, and more functional.”

Karl Bickmore, president of CCNS, has the same opinion—and, in fact, doesn’t just sell the 2 in 1 HP Revolve Ultrabook, but uses it for his own system, as well. “I actually have used the Revolve for six months now. It’s my tablet, my work computer, and my home computer—all those worlds are converging into one device for me. I love that it’s portable and just as powerful as any desktop computer I’ve ever used.”
