STEP 1. Select external hypervisor
Multi-PC configuration
STEP 2. Import the additional IOS Image
The hypervisor can control the IOS image and GNS3 application via console program.
(ex. Secure CRT…)

Main PC
Sub PCCheck the IOS Image both of the local and
remote pc IOS image file location.

STEP 5. Create IOS image directory on the remote pc

You must create same IOS image and Working directory between Main and Sub PC.
When you create the directory, check the exact name and path both of the main and sub pc.

STEP 6. Create Dynamips new process

STEP 7. Edit new Dynamips start file
You should copy and edit previous dynamips-start.file for your own external-processor.
You should change the process id For your new Dynamips
If necessary, you should create several process for your configuration.

STEP 8. Double check the default image check box.

However, if you select the IOS image file you can see the actual configuration. Make sure it

Install the new platform.

STEP 10. Start the external processor on the remote pc
Upper case is the negative … example !
When you use multi-pc configuration, you should
use the specific ip address for the IOS image path.

STEP 11. Select and run the remote router

When you check the running status of the remote router. It will be helpful for you that
if you check the remote router CPU resource via remote desktop function.

STEP 12. [Option] Trouble shooting procedure.

When you meet the error of the remote HyperVisor, you should check below check lists.
1). GNS3 external hypervisors port number -->make sure !!! the exact number of the remote pc Dynamips process id !!!ex 7201 <--> 7211 , 7200 <-->7210 don't confuse !
2). In an IOS IMAGE - unclick the Default image for thisplatform when you double click "the each IOS Image location"
3). Run the remote PC hypervisor - exact process number .4). Do not use “localhost” name for Hypervisor
because localhost ip address is 127.0.0.1 you should specify the ip address of your Main PC.
5). Make sure the difference between local and remote Hypervisor of the Base UDP port and console port
6). Check the task manager for the GNS3 and reboot the pc 7). Create same IOS image and Working directory between Main and Sub PC

1. Setup the multi hypervisor for the Main server
