GAC-GEO-DEPT ALUMNI ASSOCIATION NEWSLETTER(FOR PRIVATE CIRCULATION ONLY)

FIRST MEETING OF GEOLOGY ALUMNI OF GAC, SALEM
We the Alumnis introduced ourselves and shared our experience and interacted with present batch
of junior students. Almost all of them discussed about the wide opportunity in the field of Geology and
some guidance to grasp those golden opportunity lies ahead.
A request was made to the alumni present to spread information about the activities of the
Association and also to register in the site which was created very recently. Most of the batches hav
group mails circulating amongst themselves. It would be a good idea ifhttp://gacalumni.webs.com i
linked to the group mail and social network sites like Facebook and Orkut for easy facilitation of alumn
registration and for mutual interaction.
The focus is to get students to come out and
connect with alumni

GEOLOGY ALUMNI ASSOCIATIONGOVERNMENT ARTS COLLEGE, SALEM
The First GAC-GEO-DEPARTMENT Alumni Associatio
meeting was attended by about 10 alumni, present III B.Sc, I M.S
and II M.Sc Applied Geology Students and Teachers. The Alumn
had invited both alumni and present Teachers: Mr.V.Sridharan
Dr.V.Manivannan, Mr.M.Jayabalan, Mr.V.Thirukumaran, Mr.C
Boobalan, Mr.N.Vijayakumar, and Mr. P. Pragadeeshwaran.
Alumni from a cross section of batches, starting from as early a
1996 to as recent as 2007, attended the meeting. The meeting wa primarily conducted to have an interaction between Alumnis an
the present batch of UG and PG students.
Mr.V.Thirukumaran started the proceedings by elucidating th
agenda and purpose of the meet, followed by Mr.V.Sridharan an
Dr.V.Manivannan. Both of them appreciated all Alumni present fo
this first step and great initiative.

All alumni are requested to get registered
in our recently started website, to enablemore number of alumnis in our forum and to
initiate useful and helpful discussion.
In future a formal invitation/message was
also made and it will be sent to all the
alumnis to increase participation in future
meetings.
Finally, present PG Student delivered an
honoury vote of thanks to all those present tograce the occasion and for the valuable
guidance.
I request each and every alumnus of our
great department should get participate in
the forth coming meetings and share thei
views, ideas and guidance to our beloved
