Mothers

An exciting and industrious start to Term 2 in 1S. We have been discussing all of the wonderful things that our mothers do for us and why we appreciate them so much. 1S listed the many things their mothers and special carers do for them to help them everyday such as helping them prepare healthy lunches for school, listening to them read their home readers and sight words, talking to them about their day and giving them cuddles. The highlight of our week was surprising our mums with the special gifts that we had made for them. 1S would like to thank all of our amazing mothers. Mrs Rachael Scott.

Dear parents, carers and community members, we hope everyone had a lovely Mother’s Day on Sunday and all mothers enjoyed their presents! Our Mother’s Day Morning Tea was very successful I met many family members and enjoyed the delicious morning tea supplied by our canteen. Thank you to Mrs Campbell, Aunty Sue, Donna and canteen team for your organisation.Congratulations to our winning netball team! The first game of the day the girls won 10-1. The second game they won again 16-0 against Casino Public. We are now in week 3 and NAPLAN is underway for students in Years 3 and 5. This is a point in time assessment of student learning and families will receive the results in the mail in a few months’ time. This year we are doing NAPLAN online which is a little different but still measuring student learning outcomes in literacy and numeracy. All classes are working well in class and our school values of being safe, respectful and responsible learners have been discussed with students and are displayed in all classrooms as a reminder to all. Our new Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) signage was erected last week and looks great across the school. We have been focussing on speaking respectfully, hands off others and getting to class on time after breaks. Congratulations to all students who consistently follow our school values. There are many exciting events coming up for Casino West Public School so keep an eye on the calendar!

WORD UP!

bingings means turtle

From the Book ‘Animals from the

Bundjalung Nation’

‘‘The Casino Way” value we are focusing on this week is patience. Having patience means you can remain calm, even when you’ve been waiting for a long time or trying to teach someone how to do something and they just don’t get it. It is wonderful to see our students waiting while someone is speaking and not interrupting. It is a joy to watch our students carefully explaining the rules to a game in different ways so their friends understand. We all love witnessing everyone lining up at the canteen calmly and patiently.Patience is important in overcoming frustration. It allows us time to think and make good choices. Patience creates confidence, decisiveness, and a thoughtful outlook on life. Patience leads to wisdom and success.

This weeks PBL focus is leaving the classroom and walking promptly to the appropriate area before going home. Students need to leave classrooms respectfully to follow their teachers instructions in bus waiting areas and patiently waiting at road crossings to be supervised by staff.

Teachers will be handing out Platty tickets to students that they see following these expectations for Monday’s raffle tickets draw on assembly.Mrs Tami ChaddertonStage 3 Assistant Principal.Ms George SpeckAssistant Principal Instructional Leader.
