  • INTRODUCTIONMany changes since independence, especially in the eightiesBased on the Report of the Cabinet Education Review Committee in Implementing the Education Policy (1979), KBSR was implemented in 1983KBSM was implemented in 1989

  • KBSREmphasised the ability to master basic skills in 3M (reading, writing and counting) and the overall individual development It is hoped that the schools will be able to produce students with adequate knowledge, noble characters and ability to contribute positively to the progress, prosperity and harmony of the nation

  • The programmes of KBSR and KBSM were planned according to the Education Policy 1979, which subsequently became a basis to devise the National Education Philosophy (FPN)

  • PHILOSOPHY OF KBSR MATHS EDUCATIONStudents are required to obtain knowledge and master skills through direct experience.This experience must be suitable to the learning objective via interesting activities.All teaching and learning activities must involve every student actively.

  • Evaluation must be used in each stage of teaching and learning in order to assess comprehensively the weaknesses as well as to improve students level of achievementEvaluation also help teachers to analyse the weaknesses and to improve the effectiveness of T&L

  • Conducive atmosphere should be created in the classroom to encourage pupils to think, to question and to express their ideas through active participation.Allows children to exchange ideas, work together to achieve the learning objectives

  • Through T&L activities, every child is able to experience overall and balanced development of cognitive, psychomotor, emotion and social aspects
