Our INPRO Member States Drive Where INPRO Project Tasks Go

Page 9: 19th INPRO Dialogue Forum on Enhancing Public Acceptance

INPRO Task 1:Global Scenarios➢ Develop global and regional nuclear energy scenarios

➢ Use developed scientific-technical analysis tools

➢ Provide a global vision of sustainable nuclear energy

development in the current century and beyond

➢ Forge innovative new partnerships

➢ Analysis Support for Enhanced Nuclear Energy

Sustainability - ASENES SMR – Key New Task

Integrated Energy System Analysis: FRAMES

➢ Growing interest in integrated energy

systems (Member States and IAEA)

with nuclear and renewable power

systems

➢ IAEA developed an in-house capability

(FRAMES)

➢ Can quantify the value that nuclear

brings to low-carbon systems, and

inform policy

➢ FRAMES can highlight the value of

nuclear in decarbonization and

analyze options

FRAMES (FRAmework for Modelling Electricity Systems)Joint Task with INPRO+PESS+NPTDS

Page 14: 19th INPRO Dialogue Forum on Enhancing Public Acceptance

FRAMES GOALS

➢ FRAMES calculates the optimal (in economic terms) dispatch

of existing generating units (Unit commitment) subject to all

the relevant constraints

➢ It can also determine the best investments in new generating

technologies for greenfield or brownfield cases (Capacity

expansion)

➢ Provided message for DG Grossi to Deliver at COP26 (Joint

URENCO-IAEA TASK)

Nuclear Development and

Deployment – May 2021

• 19th DF – Enhancing Public

Acceptance of Nuclear Energy

through Institutional Innovations–
